In power systems commonly appear various disturbances such as voltage unbalance, voltage deviations, frequency deviations (in autonomous power systems) and voltage waveform distortions. Voltage waveform distortions are usually associated with presence of higher harmonics. Also, in some power systems are appeared voltage components, which have frequency components higher than the fundamental frequency and are not an integer multiple of the fundamental one - called interharmonics. Sometimes interharmonics occur together with subharmonics, i.e. voltage components with frequency less than the fundamental one. Both interharmonics and subharmonics are the most seldom investigated power quality disturbances, and their impact on an induction machine is still not satisfactorily explained. This paper is devoted to the effect interharmonic and subharmonic voltage components on currents in windings of an induction machine. The results of experimental investigations are presented for two low-power induction cage machines.

Opis:
One of most important energy receivers is an induction cage machine. It can work properly provided that it is supplied with balanced, sinusoidal voltage of appropriate frequency and rms value. Presence of any power quality disturbances leads to additional power losses and to an increase in windings temperature. Higher temperature of windings means faster aging of insulation system. Consequently, power disturbances may cause premature destruction of a machine. One of power quality disturbances that may result in machine overheating, are subharmonics. Their thermal impact on an induction cage machine was usually investigated with simulation method that has been not verified in the previous works. In this paper results of thermal calculations were compared with results of measurements. It was pointed out that the method used in previous works for calculations of thermal impact of subharmonics, causes underestimation of windings temperature.

This paper deals with influence of voltage interharmonics on currents in an induction cage machine. The results of investigations are presented for 5,5 kW four-pole induction cage machine under supply with voltage containing positive-sequence and negative sequence interharmonic injections of various frequencies. The phenomena that have been known from computer simulations only, are confirmed by experimental method. It is proved in this paper that positive-sequence voltage interharmonics have result in current subharmonics flowing in machine windings. The significant dependency between the frequency of voltage interharmonics and the amplitude of current subharmonics, which has been known so far from theoretical calculations, is confirmed experimentally as well.

W artykule przedstawiono elementarną metodę generowania równości i tożsamości trygonometrycznych. Między innymi wyprowadzono równości związane z pierwiastkami wielomianu Perrina oraz otrzymano uogólnienia znanych równości Ramanujana.
In this paper a completely elementary method of generating the trigonometric equalities and identities is presented. Among them, the equalities connected with roots of Perrin’s polynomial and the generalizations of known Ramanujan’s equalities are proven.

We recall the ancient notion of arbelos and introduce a number of concepts generalizing it. We follow the ideas presented by J. Sondow in his article on parbelos, the parabolic analogue of the classic arbelos. Our concepts concern the curves constructed of arcs which resemble each other and surfaces obtained in a similar way. We pay special attention to ellarbelos, the curves built of semi-ellipses, because of their possible application in engineering, e.g. in determining the static moments of arc rod constructions or in problems of structural stability and durability of constructions.

The present experiment evaluated the quality of macroscopic images and the mean time of capsule passage through different sections of the gastrointestinal tract in dogs subjected to different preparation protocols before capsule endoscopy. In the first examination, the colonoscopy preparation protocol was applied, and in the second examination, the animals were administered macrogol. The study revealed that macrogol administration before capsule endoscopy significantly improved the quality of macroscopic images. The colonoscopy preparation protocol may not support accurate visualization of the large bowel mucosa and, in selected patients, also the small bowel mucosa. Macrogol administration had no effect on capsule transit time through the alimentary canal. Capsules used in endoscopic evaluations of the small bowel in humans may have limited applications in macroscopic examinations of large bowel mucosa in dogs.

This study evaluates the efficacy of budesonide in the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) in dogs based on the results of clinical, endoscopic and histopathological examinations. The severity of clinical symptoms was assessed based on CIBDAI scores, and macroscopic and histopathological changes were described in accordance with the recommendations of the WSAVA Gastrointestinal Standardization Group for 2008. The results of the experiment revealed that budesonide does not offer effective treatment for canine IBD. The tested drug failed to alleviate the clinical symptoms of disease, lower CIBDAI scores, or improve the macroscopic appearance of intestinal mucosa. The effectiveness of budesonide was most highly evaluated in the histopathological picture of duodenal, jejunal and colonic mucosa.

W pracy przedstawiono wybrane wyniki badań eksperymentalnych rozbudowanego, uniwersalnego estymatora/analizatora jakości energii elektrycznej w wersji 2.0. Artykuł dotyczy zagadnień związanych z oceną i poprawą jakości energii elektrycznej, zwłaszcza w izolowanych systemach okrętowych. W artykule krótko przedstawiono strukturę uniwersalnego estymatora/analizatora jakości energii elektrycznej w wersji 2.0, z podkreśleniem zmian konstrukcyjnych i funkcjonalnych w stosunku do wcześniej istniejącego rozwiązania, tj. estymatora/analizatora energii elektrycznej w wersji 1.0. Najważniejszą częścią przedstawionego artykułu jest syntetyczne omówienie trybów i wyników weryfikacji eksperymentalnej wykonanego urządzenia, podzielone na dwie części, dotyczące odpowiednio: badań laboratoryjnych wykonanych w Akademii Morskiej w Gdyni oraz prób środowiskowych wykonanych przez instytucję posiadającą właściwe uprawnienia akredytacyjne, tj. Centrum Techniki Morskiej.
In the paper some experimental research results of developed version 2.0 of the universal estimator/analyzer of electric power quality are presented. A subject matter of the paper concerns the issues connected with assessment and improvement of electrical power quality, in particular for applications in isolated ship power systems. In the article a structure of universal estimator/analyzer of electrical power quality in the version 2.0, taking into account the constructional and functional changes in relation to previously existing solution, i.e. the estimator/analyzer of electrical power quality in version 1.0 is shortly described. The most important part of the presented paper is synthetic discussion of the ways and results of the experimental verification of the elaborated device. This discussion is divided into two parts, concerning respectively laboratory tests carried out in the Gdynia Maritime University and environmental tests on marine equipment carried out by the appropriate accreditating institution it means Research & Development Marine Technology Centre - R&DMTC, Laboratory of Electromagnetic Compatibility.

Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are commonly used in animals, especially in dogs, to manage pain due to inflammatory disease. This study investigated whether plant drugs can prevent mucosal injury induced by robenacoxib. We used fifteen healthy beagle dogs (7 male and 8 female) aged 4 months, weighing 4.2-5.1 kg at the beginning of the study. Endoscopy and biopsy of the colon were performed before and on the 21 day treatment with robenacoxib (1), robenacoxib, herbal solution with liquorice extract (2), placebo – an empty capsule (3). There were 5 animals in each group. The greatest microscopic damage in the colon was observed in animals which received robenacoxib. Plant drug administration reduced the severity of lesions in the colon when administered with robenacoxib (ARI = – 0.15). Conclusion: concurrent administration of liquorice extract and plant solution with robenacoxib was associated with significant decreased severity of the robenacoxib-induced colonic mucosal lesions.

The objective of this study was to examine the independent effect of helminths infection on biochemical blood parameters in Beagles intended for laboratory use which may contribute to a change of experimental results. As a result of research, the authors confirmed the negative effect of helminth invasion on the metabolism of the liver and kidney in laboratory dogs. Stool samples from thirty Beagle puppies were examined for parasites before the puppies were moved to the animal facility, and all were dewormed with Vetminth paste on the day they were moved. Stool examination was performed three more times and animals were given Drontal Plus flavor (Bayer) and Baycox 5% (Bayer). A fourth parasitological examination revealed no intestinal parasites in the feces. Three blood biochemical tests were performed. Experimental results clearly indicate the significant impact of intestinal parasites in dogs used in experiments.
