Opis:
The paper presents social problems discussed in the weekly Der Spiegel with respect to the image-formation of the four neighbouring countries: Poland, France, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia. The author carries out a review of positive and negative social phenomena in the societies in question as they are presented in some selected issues of the weekly from the years 1989-1997. Basing herself on the quantitative and qualitative method of content analysis the authoress builds a tool as her key of categorisation. It follows from the analyses that the journalists of Der Spiegel concentrate on the presentation of negative phenomena in German neighbours. The image of Poland emerges as the most negative; the image of France is somewhat more positive, but still negative. In relation to Poland and France the Czech and Slovakian societies do much better. The principal feature of the presented negative phenomena is the fact that the social similarities here are loose, accidental, asocial, and their members are deprived of common values, ideals, and tendencies. The negative attitude visible in the formation of wrong images of the French and Polish societies is connected, according to the authoress, with historical prejudices and stereotypical views of the inhabitants of Germany's neighbouring countries.

Opis:
Artykuł skupiony jest na tematyce memów internetowych z memetycznej perspektywy. Głównym jego celem jest próba odtworzenia narracji wizualno-tekstowej zbrojnego konfliktu ukraińsko‑rosyjskiego w memach na portalach Facebook i Vkontakte. Podjęte refleksje ukazały, że aktywność transmiterów pozwala na wyodrębnienie dwóch sposobów przekazywania i multiplikowania memów. Pierwszy sposób to pojedyncza ekspresja bez rozwijania wątków,  drugi zaś to tworzenie rozbudowanej sekwencji memów. Przeprowadzona analiza zawartości memów pozwoliła na ustalenie dwóch podstawowych mechanizmów kształtowania określonych wizerunków stron globalnego konfliktu. Pierwszy polega na wzmacnianiu pozytywnego wizerunku Rosji (rola akredytacyjna inspiratora w aktywnościach propagandowych), drugi zaś to strategia wzmacniania negatywnego wizerunku Ukrainy (rola dyskredytacyjna oponenta, przeciwnika).
Article is focused on the theme of Internet memes from the perspective of memetics. The main purpose of the article is an attempt to recreating the visual-textual narrative of the Ukraine–Russian conflict in social media: Facebook and Vkontakte. The reflections showed that the activity of transmitters allows for the definition two ways of transmitting and multiplying memes. The first method is a single meme expression without developing threads, and the second one consists in creating an extensive sequence of memes. The analysis of the content of the memes made it possible to determine two basic mechanisms for the strengthening images of the parties of the global conflict. The first — strengthening the positive image of Russia (the accreditation role of the inspector in propaganda activities) and the second – a strategy to strengthen the negative image of Ukraine (the role of the opponent's discrediting opponent).

Zasadniczym celem podjętym w artykule jest przedstawienie koncepcji tożsamości religijnej Leona Dyczewskiego w dobie mediatyzacji religii i pokazanie dynamiki procesu mediatyzacji w kontekście pandemii COVID-19. Tematyka wpisuje się w nurt współczesnego dyskursu o tożsamości religijnej w dobie pandemii, otwierając nowe interesujące pola problemowe. Artykuł ma trójdzielną strukturę – w pierwszej części jest omówiona koncepcja tożsamości religijnej w ujęciu Leona Dyczewskiego, następnie przybliżone zagadnienie mediatyzacji religii wraz z odniesieniami do najważniejszych konsekwencji dla tożsamości religijnej. W części trzeciej dokonano empirycznej analizy dyskursów religijnych w Internecie w okresie pandemii COVID-19. Przekazy są traktowane jako produkty medialne konstruujące elementy treściowe tożsamości religijnej.
The main goal of the article is to present Leon Dyczewski’s concept of religious identity in the era of the mediatization of religion, and to describe the dynamics of this process in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. The subject is an important part of the contemporary discourse on religious identity in the age of a pandemic and opens up new interesting problem issues.The article is divided into three parts. The first part discusses Dyczewski’s concept of religious identity. Then I present the issue of the mediatization of religion and how it affects religious identity. Finally, I carry out an empirical analysis of religious discourses on the Internet during the COVID-19 pandemic. Messages are treated as media products that construct the content elements of religious identity.

Opis:
The article takes up problems connected with the fashionable sub-discipline of sociology – visual sociology, slowly gaining an independent status in the theoretical and methodological field. Four models of visual sociology and their characteristics are described. The problems are also shown that are connected with the notions used in the discipline. Also basic definitions, as well as the sociological, semiotic and interpretative research techniques of the visual material (photography and film) are discussed.

Opis:
The article attempts to identify and characterise the selected social determinants of media literacy in a family. First of these is the generational diversity that conditions different competences and ways of media use. The constant presence of media in a family unit and its integral connection with daily life within that family provoke the statement that the media has become an important participant in the process of communication. Therefore, the second determinant is constituted by the models of communication in the family: whether these are one-way, two-way or non-directional communication models. On the basis of the variety of communication types, this paper concentrates on the negotiation model of communication – this being considered to be the most adequate in the active use of media. The discussion takes the perspective of “soft” media determinism by Paul Levinson.
W artykule podjęto próbę określenia i scharakteryzowania wybranych społecznych determinant edukacji medialnej w rodzinie. Pierwszą z nich jest zróżnicowanie pokoleniowe warunkujące odmienne kompetencje i sposoby korzystania z mediów. Stała obecność mediów w rodzinie i ich integralne zespolenie z porządkiem codziennego życia rodzinnego skłaniają do stwierdzenia, że media stają się znaczącymi podmiotami uczestniczącymi w procesie komunikowania. Drugą determinantą są zatem wzory komunikacji w rodzinie: jednokierunkowa, dwukierunkowa oraz bezkierunkowa. Na kanwie wielości typów komunikacji refleksji poddano negocjacyjny model komunikacji, uznany za najbardziej właściwy w aktywnym korzystaniu z mediów. W rozważaniach przyjęto perspektywę „miękkiego” determinizmu medialnego Paula Levinsona.

Tematem artykułu jest odtworzenie semantycznych i wizualnych modeli „nowego ojcostwa” na podstawie publikacji tygodników opiniotwórczych „Przekroju” i „Polityki” z lat 1979-1989 oraz 1999-2009. Modele semantyczne „nowego ojcostwa” zostały scharakteryzowane z uwzględnieniem następujących wymiarów: wymiar aksjologiczny, wymiar cech osobowości, wymiar poczucia identyfikacji zbiorowych, wymiar umiejętności i nabytych cech oraz wymiar aktywności. Modele wizualne to wzory i odniesienia wizualne, działające kreująco na jednostki i całe zbiorowości. W analizach własnych wykorzystano następujące techniki badawcze: analizę pól semantycznych przekazów tekstowych oraz analizę zawartości i analizę semiotyczną fotografii prasowych. Zaprezentowane modele wpisują się w nurt przemian modelu ojcostwa we współczesnych społeczeństwach.
The subject of this article is the re-creation of semantic and visual models of “new fatherhood” on the basis of publications in the opinion-forming weekly magazines “Przekrój” and “Polityka” from the years 1979-1989 and 1999-2009. The semantic models of “new fatherhood” were characterised taking into account the following dimensions: the axiological dimension, the personal-characteristics dimension, the collective-identity dimension, the skills and acquired-features dimension and the activity dimension. Visual models are visual patterns and references which shape individuals and entire communities. In his analysis the author used the following research techniques: the analysis of semantic fields of texts and the content analysis and semiotic analysis of press photographs. The presented models are part of the trend in which we can observe how the model of fatherhood is changing in contemporary societies.

This paper comprises part of the current research on the phenomenon of new spirituality, conducted within the sociology of religion and social communication and media sciences. It aims to analyze selected manifestations of the new spirituality entering into the religious sphere of a religiously homogeneous society based on the example of Poland. A complementary application of quantitative and qualitative methods was proposed. The subject of the analysis is the results of a representative survey in which Poles define themselves in terms of religiosity and spirituality, with examples of their search for content on a new spirituality through online resources using the assumptions of the theory of social representations. The above concept resulted in the bipartite structure of the main part of the article. It was preceded by a theoretical introduction synthetically presenting phenomena identified as key features of new spirituality and ended with a discussion of the results and conclusions. The analyses indicate that, in Polish society, the category of phenomena and processes classified as new spirituality is distinguishable but complex and diverse. In the subsequent stages of the analysis, their socio-demographic determinants were shown, and then the media representations of the new spirituality were identified, categorized, and put into typologies.

Zasadniczym celem artykułu jest charakterystyka metafor wizualnych o pandemii COVID-19 w memach internetowych. Struktura artykułu jest następująca: w pierwszej części omawiam zagadnienia teoretyczne dotyczące memów i metafor wizualnych, które są istotne dla dalszych analiz własnych; druga część jest poświęcona metodologii i analizom szczegółowym wybranych przykładów memowych metafor wizualnych pandemii. Poruszone zostały cztery zagadnienia: jakie są dwa terminy metafory — domena źródłowa i docelowa; który termin jest domeną docelową metafory, a który domeną źródłową; jakie cechy domeny źródłowej są mapowane do domeny docelowej; jakie elementy metafor pierwotnych (primary metaphor) można odszukać w wizualizacjach. Ostatnia część zawiera kilka uwag końcowych o charakterze podsumowującym.
The main goal of the article is to description of visual metaphors about the pandemic COVID-19 in Internet memes. The structure of the paper is a follows: in the first section, I consider the two basic theoretic components of this paper, i.e memes and visual metaphors which are relevant for further own analysis, then in the second section I present the methodology and detailed analyzes of ten selected examples of visual metaphors of a pandemic. Four issues are addressed: What are the two terms of the metaphor — source and target domain; Which term is the target domain of the metaphor, which is the source domain; What characters of the source domain are mapped to the target domain; What elements of primary mataphors can be found in the visualizations. The last part contains some concluding remarks.

Tematem artykułu jest ekspertyzacja macierzyństwa w mediach. Omówiono zagadnienie wzrostu znaczenia ekspertów w społeczeństwach ponowoczesnych zastępujących tradycyjnych liderów opinii, intelektualistów, naukowców. Wymienione zostały wymiary ekspertyzacji macierzństwa, m.in. asymetria w relacji matki i dziecka, asymetria w relacji matki i eksperta, asymetria w relacji wiedzy osobistej i wiedzy eksperckiej, instrukcje eksperckie, brak kwalifikacji i umiejętności matek w pełnieniu roli matki. Poszczególne wymiary omówiono w oparciu o dyskurs ekspercki o macierzyństwie w programie „I Ty możesz mieć superdziecko”.
The theme of the article are expertisation of the motherhood in the media. It is a study about the issue of the growing importance of experts in the postmodern societies, which replaces the traditional opinion leaders, intellectuals and scientists. The author refers to the dimensions of expertisation of the motherhood including the asymmetry in the relationship of a mother and a child, the asymmetry in relations between a mother and an expert, the asymmetry in the relationship between personal knowledge and expertise knowledge, instructions of experts, the lack of qualifications and skills of mothers in their role of a mother. The dimensions are discussed on the basis of the discourse of experts about motherhood in TV-programm ”I Ty możesz mieć superdziecko”.

Artykuł jest próbą krytycznej interpretacji tekstów autorstwa Leona Dyczewskiego podejmujących zagadnienie relacji między kulturą narodową, kulturą europejską, tożsamością kulturową i wielokulturowością. Artykuł rozpoczyna charakterystyka koncepcji kultury europejskiej Leona Dyczewskiego wraz z kanonem wartości europejskich. Następnie zaprezentowana została analiza zjawiska wielokulturowości w nowoczesnych społeczeństwach. Wielokulturowość jest rozumiana jako cecha środowiska społeczno-kulturowego, które odzwierciedla jego wewnętrzną złożoność i zróżnicowanie (dzięki czynnikom kulturowym, antropologicznym, psychologicznym i socjologicznym). Artykuł kończy charakterystyka pojęcia domowej wielokulturowości medialnej.
The article presents an attempt to critical interpret texts written by Leon Dyczewski discusing issues of the relationships between the national culture, European culture, national identity and multiculturalism. The article begins with the descriptions of the Dyczewski’s concept of the European culture with the canon of the European values. Subsequently was presented the review of the phenomenon of multiculturalism in the modern societies. Multiculturalism is understood as a feature of the socio-cultural environment, which mirrors its internal complexity and diversity (due to the cultural, anthropological, psychological and sociological factors). The article ends the characteristic the notion of the multiculturalism from the media in home.
