    Opis:
    This article covers the works of the Croatian director Oliver Frljić from the perspective of the political influence of his performances. The frame for this research is Walter Benjamin’s historiosophical concept of „angel of history” and Chantal Mouffe’s theory of agonism concentrated on positive aspects of political conflicts. The author situates the director’s theatrical activities and his biography (especially his personal experience of the Yugoslav Wars) as a tool for understanding inexorable nationalistic tendencies in contemporary Europe. Frljić’s strategy of creating “radical fiction” and strong, shocking images is analysed as a vehicle for breaking the postdemocratic and postpolitical order. It means that theatre can be treated as a new form of protest and political subjectivity. For this reason Frljić’s performances are concerned with social debates about refreshing democracy

    This article covers the work of Hungarian director Árpád Schilling in the perspective of his direct political activities against Viktor Orbán’s manipulations of democracy. The author situates the theatrical activities of this director as a vehicle for understanding contemporary populism. Using the political and sociological categories (like “stubborn structures” or “deep history”), he describes how Schilling generates the vision of politically engaged theatre based on very simple gestures and texts with “deep histories” and how his activities try to transcend the division between “artistic” and “political”.

    From a practice-as-research perspective, the author analyses his dramaturgical work on the performance How to Save the World on the Small Stage? directed by Paweł Łysak (Teatr Powszechny in Warszawa, 2018). This particular case is the starting point for complex research of methods and tools for ecological theatre. Una Chaudhuri’s idea of “Fifth Wall Dramaturgy” becomes the inspiration to exceed only human perspective and involve inhuman actors to the theatrical structure.

    Opis:
    In this article, the author describes the work of the Argentinian artist, Lola Arias, from the perspective of her interest in individual and collective memory. The frame for this research is the notion of „time machine” compared with Maria Janion’s notion of „archive of existence”. The author situates the work and biography of Lola Arias the director, filmmaker and visual artist within the „archeontology in action”. Also, he describes Arias’ strategy of overlapping reality and fiction to project the new vision of the future. Her performances are juxtaposed with Donna Haraway’s notion of „speculative fabulation” according to whichsmall, individual stories help us to understand complex reality and new modes of perception.

    Paweł Sztarbowski rozmawia z Árpádem Schillingiem w dniu przerwania prób do "Dobrobytu" (Teatr Powszechny): "Jeszcze nie wiem, co zrobimy po tym wszystkim. Mam nadzieję, że ludzie na nowo ogarną swoje życie, ale myślę, że bardzo długo będą się bali siebie nawzajem. Może być trudno zaprosić ich ponownie do teatru, żeby usiedli obok siebie. To dotyczy również aktorów. Kiedy będą musieli się objąć albo pocałować na scenie, może się zdarzyć, że nie będą na to gotowi. Więc być może również aktorzy będą chcieli unikać dotyku, być minimum metr od siebie, a widzowie siedzieć lub stać dwa metry od siebie. Jaki to będzie rodzaj teatru? Teatr dystansu, teatr strachu. A przecież przez wiele lat teatr próbował przełamywać ten dystans."
