    The subject of the paper is linguistic humour examined from the point of view of its functioning in intralinguistic literary communication (monolingual) as well as from a much broader point of view which comprises the problem of crosslinguistic and crosscultural transfer of facetious elements. The analysis has as its subject different forms of verbal humour which can be observed in linguistic communication that is understood as any manifestation of linguistic activity. Having assumed such a broad perspective of communication allowed to analyse humour from the point of view of its functioning, not only within one cultural-linguistic community, but also to analyse this phenomenon in the crosslinguistic and crosscultural context.

    Various factors influence the contemporary reception of Polish literature in France. Economic criteria have succeeded ideological constraints, but new developments in the memory process in Poland and France also play a major role, all the more so as they are not synchronised, especially when it comes to the history of WW2 and Jewish -Polish relations. An analysis reveals the combination of at least four factors: the role of literary translations (re-editions and new translations), the results of his- toriographical research, the evolution of collective memory in both countries, as well as the interaction with foreign – mostly Anglo-Saxon – publications on the sub- ject. Through a cursory presentation of the reception of Polish literature for youth and adults in the early 2000s, we intend to show that WW2 and Jewish-Polish rela- tions, among other themes, occupy a central position. The two “re-enactments” of the figure of Jan Karski published in 2009 in French novels by Yannick Haenel and Bruno Tessarech and the ensuing polemic, as well as the re-edition of the testimony by the great Polish freedom fighter Jan Karski are a telling illustration of what is at stake in the contemporary reception of Polish literature in France and, more generally, of all the issues regarding that country.

    La dualité notionnelle entre substance et qualité a toujours occupé une place très importante dans la pensée philosophique et linguistique. L’attribution à un objet ou à un être semble une nécessité ontologique constituant une catégorie universelle. Celle-ci se réalise et se manifeste bien différemment dans chaque langue. Le problème de la catégorie adjectivale est lié à la distribution des parties du discours, à leurs fonctions respectives, et aussi à l’arrangement syntaxique dont l’adjectif fait partie. Ce qui nous semble très important pour la présente étude, c’est la nécessité de souligner le rôle décisif de l’arrangement syntagmatique interprétation adjectivale. Cette problématique pose beaucoup de questions d’ordre théorique et pragmatique auxquelles les linguistes et les grammairiens essaient de donner des réponses satisfaisantes. Nous croyons que ce problème mérite d’être traité encore une fois dans la perspective contrastive qui, nous en sommes persuadés, peut se montrer décisive pour mettre en relief la spécificité de chacune des langues analysées : le français, l’espagnol et le polonais.
    Monografia poświęcona jest analizie kategorii gramatycznej przymiotnika w perspektywie kontrastywnej francusko-hiszpańsko-polskiej. Atrybucja cechy, która jawi się jako główna funkcja przymiotnika jest realizowana w różny sposób w zależności od cech semantycznych i morfologicznych danego języka. Analiza porównawcza kategorii przymiotnika w trzech zestawionych języka wykazała znaczną heterogeniczność na poziomie ww. cech oraz znaczne zróżnicowanie zasięgu wspomnianej kategorii w każdym z systemów językowych. Jednym z zasadniczych celów pracy jest zestawienie wyznaczników definicyjnych przymiotnika z cechami typologicznymi na poziomie składniowym poszczególnych języków. Funkcja przydawki przymiotnej, na której w znacznym stopniu skupia się prowadzona analiza, w zestawieniu z cechami semantycznymi i morfologicznymi przymiotników, daje możliwości wyodrębnienia i kategoryzacji pewnych funkcji pragmatycznych realizowanych przez ww. kategorię gramatyczną w obrębie grupy nominalnej. Mimo że omawiane języki romańskie (francuski i hiszpański) wykazują duże zróżnicowanie typologiczne w stosunku do języka polskiego na poziomie szeroko rozumianego zagadnienia szyku wyrazów w zdaniu, które obejmuje również pozycję przydawki przymiotnej w stosunku do określanego rzeczownika w obrębie syntagmy nominalnej, prepozycja i postpozycja przymiotnika ujawniają wiele wspólnych cech znaczeniowych i funkcjonalnych. W świetle prowadzonej analizy wydaje się uzasadnione twierdzenie, iż to właśnie prepozycja przydawki przymiotnej względem rzeczownika realizuje w pełni zasadniczą, ontologiczną funkcję przydawki przymiotnej, jaką jest charakterystyka elementu nominalnego, przypisanie mu cechy przygodnej. Szyk elementu w obrębie grupy nominalnej, zasadniczo zdeterminowany przez wzajemną relację rzeczownika i przydawki przymiotnej, daje, w obrębie analizowanych języków, znaczną swobodę (oczywiście większą w przypadku języka polskiego) wyboru pre- lub postpozycji przymiotnika w stosunku do rzeczownika, ale prawie nigdy nie są to wybory dowolne, ponieważ pociągają one za sobą konkretne funkcje semantyczne i pragmatyczne. Wybór, natomiast, pozycji przymiotnika innej niż ta, która dominuje z punktu widzenia typologicznego w danym języku, jest wykładnikiem użycia nacechowanego stylistycznie lub emocjonalnie i wynika z subiektywnych decyzji nadawcy komunikatu językowego.
    La presente monografía está dedicada al análisis contrastivo « francés-español-polaco» de la categoría gramatical de adjetivo. La atribución del rasgo que se presenta como función primordial del adjetivo se lleva a cabo de modos distintos, dependiendo de las peculiaridades semánticas y morfológicas de cada idioma. El análisis contrastivo de las tres lenguas sujetas a estudio ha permitido detectar una diferenciación considerable del alcance de la categoría de adjetivo en cada uno de los sistemas lingüísticos. Uno de los objetivos fundamentales del estudio ha sido también la confrontación de los rasgos definitorios de la categoría de adjetivo con los rasgos tipológicos de índole sintáctica que caracterizan los idiomas analizados. La función de atributo adjetival, la cual constituía el foco principal del análisis, junto con los rasgos semánticos y morfológicos de los adjetivos, hace posible la delimitación y la categorización de determinadas funciones pragmáticas que la categoría de adjetivo desempeña dentro del grupo nominal. Aunque las lenguas románicas analizadas (el francés y el español) demuestran unas diferencias tipológicas considerables con respecto al polaco en lo que se refiere a la cuestión del orden de la frase, la cual abarca también el problema de la posición del atributo adjetival dentro del sintagma nominal, la anteposición y la posposición del adjetivo comparten numerosos rasgos semánticos y funcionales. Parece legítimo sostener que es la anteposición del adjetivo la que realiza plenamente la función ontológica y primordial de atributo adjetival. Dicha función se traduce básicamente en el hecho de caracterizar el elemento nominal dotándolo de una característica accidental. El orden del elemento dentro del grupo nominal, determinado fundamentalmente por una relación mutua que se establece entre el nombre y el atributo adjetival, deja una gran libertad en cuanto a la anteposición o la posposición del adjetivo (dicha libertad se presenta, obviamente, como más grande en el caso de la lengua polaca). La libertad de elección no equivale, no obstante, a unas elecciones puramente casuales, puesto que detrás de cada opción (anteposición o posposición) se esconden unas funciones semánticas y pragmáticas muy concretas. La elección de la posición del adjetivo, que, en términos tipológicos, difiere de la posición dominante, conlleva una marcación de índole estilística o expresivo-emotiva y es fruto de las elecciones subjetivas efectuadas por los hablantes.

    The article focuses on the multisemiotic functioning of Internet memes in communication through the web, focused, among other things, on a humorous effect. The role of the image, first of all, in the creation of the Internet meme and also in its re-application in a multicultural and interlingual environment seems fundamental. This iconic element is part of the large and varied number of relationships with other types of signs (linguistic, cultural, discursive). It seems that the question of the typological diversity of image-text relations (in the very broad sense of it) can be addressed from a variety of perspectives that involve not only a philosophy of translation, but also an approach to humorous communication on the Internet. The article aims to analyse the nature of the relationship that unites an iconic element with a linguistic element that constitutes the essence of the message conveyed by internet memes.
