    Wbrew dawnym koncepcjom o dominacji lewej półkuli w regulacji czynności językowych, prawa półkula pełni istotną rolę w przetwarzaniu informacji lingwistycznych. Jej uszkodzenie doprowadza do specyficznych zaburzeń mowy, które w literaturze przedmiotu określa się mianem pragnozji. Objawy pragnozji dotyczą m.in. trudności w rozumieniu dowcipów językowych, zakłóceń w rozpoznawania relacji semantycznych, zaburzeń w percepcji i realizacji prozodycznych aspektów mowy. Zaburzenia językowe i towarzyszące im inne deficyty poznawcze ograniczają komunikacyjne sprawności osób z uszkodzeniami prawej półkuli. W artykule zaprezentowano objawy pragnozji na przykładzie opisu pięciu pacjentów z uszkodzeniami prawej półkuli mózgu.
    Contrary to earlier conceptions of the dominance of the left hemisphere in the regulation of language functions, the right hemisphere performs a significant role in processing language information. Damage to this hemisphere results in specific speech disorders termed as pragnosia in literature. Pragnosia symptoms include inter alia difficulties in understanding language jokes, dysfunctions in the perception and realization of prosodic aspects of speech. Language disorders and other concurrent cognitive deficits limit the communication skills of persons with right hemisphere damage. The article presents the symptoms of pragnosia exemplified by five patients with right hemisphere damage.

    The aim of the article is to show the degree of speech development of a 6-year-old boy diagnosed with autism.     Music is able to stimulate the human brain at different levels, resulting in greater durability of treatment results, as well as the overall health of patients is improved. The aim of the article is to present the use of cognitive neurological music therapy techniques in the treatment of acousticmnestic aphasia patients. In the theoretical part of the article, the language and communication deficits occurring in the acoustic-mnestic aphasia are described. The basic assumptions and mechanisms of neurological music therapy were also presented, as well as the neuromuscular therapeutic techniques were briefly characterized and divided into three groups due to the area of influence (sensomotor, speech therapy and cognitive). Next, a case study of a patient with acoustic-mnestic aphasia was presented. Based on the characteristics and description of linguistic and communication disorders of the patient, appropriate cognitive techniques of neurological musicotherapy were selected and their use in the therapy of the described patient was described.

    Voice in Teacher’s Work. Significance, Issues, Prophylaxis and Proposal of Speech Therapy ExercisesCare for the vocal apparatus and ability to use it are prerequisites for maintaining its good condition for a long time. The article discusses issues related to the correct voice emission in the educator’s work and draws attention to the threats the voice is exposed to in this profession.     Ankyloglossia – Its Influence on the Pronunciation in Six‑year‑oldsThe authoress’s main objective was to observe the relationship between the structure of frenulum in 6‑year‑olds and the children’s pronunciation based on the carried‑out research. The article discusses the influence of shortened lingual frenulum on the examined children’s pronunciation, depending on the degree of shortening. What follows, the pronunciation of all the basic variants of Polish language phonemes as well as of consonant groups has been evaluated; moreover, the motility of speech organs has been studied as well as the phonemic hearing of the examined children. The results of own research have been presented against the background of various researchers’ views on the influence of ankyloglossia on pronunciation.     Right hemisphere brain damage manifests itself in the language at the level of not only expression but also reception. Utterances of people with right hemisphere dysfunctions are often disorderly and illogical. As recipients, patients with right hemisphere brain damage, for instance, interrupt their interlocutor’s utterance, cannot understand jokes, mockeries, or ambiguous messages. The paper describes language and communication defi cits arising from right hemisphere brain damage and cases of patients suffering from right hemisphere disorder. The data obtained in the course of examining people with right hemisphere damage show that the most disturbed aspects of language include: lexical and semantic processing, processing complex language information, discourse, and prosody.

    Techniki Muzykoterapii Neurologicznej (Neurologic Music Therapy – NMT) są to strategie postępowania terapeutycznego polegające między innymi na słuchaniu muzyki znanej i lubianej przez pacjenta, wspólnym śpiewaniu, dodawaniu melodii do wybranych słów, czy też na wspólnym graniu na instrumentach muzycznych. Dzięki nim trwałość efektów terapii jest większa, a także ogólny stan zdrowia pacjentów ulega poprawie. Muzykoterapia neurologiczna stosowana jest często w afazji, zaburzeniach dementywnych, w chorobie Parkinsona, Alzheimera, jak też w innych zaburzeniach neurologicznych, które mają wpływ na procesy poznawcze. W artykule przedstawiono wszystkie techniki muzykoterapii neurologicznej, podzielono je na trzy grupy (sensomotoryczną, logopedyczną i kognitywną) oraz krótko scharakteryzowano. Opisano również przypadki pacjentów, z którymi prowadzono terapię za pomocą wybranych technik muzykoterapii neurologicznej oraz opisano własne refleksje na temat przebiegu i efektów terapii.
    Techniques of Neurologic Music Therapy (NMT) are therapeutic strategies that include listening to music known and liked by the patient, singing together, adding melodies to selected words, or playing musical instruments together. Thanks to them, the stability of the treatment effects is greater, and the overall health of patients is improved. Neurologic Music Therapy is often used in aphasia, dementive disorders, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease as well as in other neurological disorders that affect cognitive processes. The article presents all the techniques of Neurological Music Therapy. They were divided into three groups (sensomotor, speech therapy and cognitive) and compactly characterized. The cases of patients with whom therapy was carried out using selected neurological music therapy techniques were also described and their own reflections on the course and effects of therapy were described.

    The aim of this article is to capture the influence of shortened tongue frenulum (ankyloglosia) on primary functions such as breathing, sucking, swallowing, as well as on food activities – biting and chewing. The publication is a review and is an attempt to combine the available professional literature (national and world) on the above topic, as well as to discuss the conclusions from the cited studies. One of the paragraphs is devoted to several cases of children with ankyloglossia and its impact on primary activities in these children. The article also includes own reflections and considerations from the literature and case description discussed in the publication, children with shortened sublingual frenulum.
