Opis:
Metal network compounds have primary properties. The use of lightweight and low vitality is a testament to the growing interest in the automotive industry. Aluminum alloys, due to their advanced physical, mechanical and tribological properties, have become a highly emerging material for a variety of industrial applications and the importance of efficient material selection is explained. In this paper, an Al8011 hybrid metal matrix composite is developed through the stir casting process. The different weight proportions of B4C (3%, 6%, 9% & 12%) and fixed proportions of 2% MoS2 have been used. Composite developed are subjected to mechanical properties evaluation and seawater corrosion studies following standard procedures. To study the porosity of the composite samples, theoretical density and actual density are calculated. An acoustic emission system-assisted tensile test is carried out to report the strength of the composite. From this experimental method, adding reinforcement can increase the tensile strength and hardness of the composites. Under sea water, the increase in reinforcement found an increase in corrosion resistance. Fractured surfaces were perused using SEM and EDS analysis.

Nonlinear optical single crystals of L-cysteine hydrochloride monohydrate (LCB) were grown by slow evaporation technique. Single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis revealed the crystal system and helped to determine lattice parameter values. Powder X-ray diffraction analyses were carried out and the diffraction patterns were indexed. The optical properties of the crystals were determined using UV-visible spectroscopy. Optical constants such as refractive index, extinction coefficient and electric susceptibility were determined from UV-visible spectroscopy. The Fourier transform infrared studies confirmed the various functional groups present in the grown crystal. The mechanical behaviour of the grown crystals was studied using Vicker's microhardness tester. The thermal analysis confirmed that the crystal was stable up to 108.7°C. The dielectric constant and the dielectric loss measurements were carried out for different temperatures and frequencies. Second harmonic generation of LCB crystal was investigated by the Kurtz powder technique.

Opis:
In this work, a comparative study on the ballistic behaviour of friction stir processed AL6061 targets had been made. Base Metal AL6061 (BM) plates with 25 mm thickness were friction stir processed by adding Multi Walled Carbon Nano Tubes (MWCNT) and Graphene (G), producing AL6061-MWCNT and AL6061-G surface composites. Optical microscopy and microhardness test on BM, AL6061-MWCNT and AL6061-G samples were performed as per the standard procedure. It was noticed that uniform dispersion of ceramic particles and refined grains were obtained for the friction stir processed surface composites. From the microhardness test, it was perceived that friction stir processing had induced strengthening of surface composites, hence increasing the microhardness of AL6061-MWCNT and AL6061-G by ~60.3% and ~73.6% respectively. Also, ballistic experiments were conducted at 680±10 m/s by impacting Ø7.62×51 mm projectiles. AL6063 backing plates were placed to compare the ballistic behaviours AL6061-MWCNT and AL6061-G targets by depth of penetration. It was noted that the depth of penetration of AL6061-MWCNT and AL6061-G targets were 37.81% and 65.84% lesser than the BM target. Further, from the results of Post ballistic microscopy it was observed that the microstructure near and away from the penetration channel edge looks unchanged in BM target. However, the AL6061-MWCNT and AL6061-G targets showed considerable change in their morphology, by forming Adiabatic Shear Bands.

Carbon fiber reinforced polymeric (CFRP) composite materials are widely used in aerospace, automobile and biomedical industries due to their high strength to weight ratio, corrosion resistance and durability. High speed machining (HSM) of CFRP material is needed to study the impact of cutting parameters on cutting forces and chip microstructure which offer vital inputs to the machinability and deformation characteristics of the material. In this work, the orthogonal machining of CFRP was conducted by varying the cutting parameters such as cutting speed and feed rate at high cutting speed/feed rate ranges up to 346 m/min/ 0.446 mm/rev. The impact of the cutting parameters on cutting forces (principal cutting, feed and thrust forces) and chip microstructure were analyzed. A significant impact on thrust forces and chip segmentation pattern was seen at higher feed rates and low cutting speeds.

Opis:
In this paper a novel non-linear optimization problem is formulated to maximize the social welfare in restructured environment with generalized unified power flow controller (GUPFC). This paper presents a methodology to optimally allocate the reactive power by minimizing voltage deviation at load buses and total transmission power losses so as to maximize the social welfare. The conventional active power generation cost function is modified by combining costs of reactive power generated by the generators, shunt capacitors and total power losses to it. The formulated objectives are optimized individually and simultaneously as multi-objective optimization problem, while satisfying equality, in-equality, practical and device operational constraints. A new optimization method, based on two stage initialization and random distribution processes is proposed to test the effectiveness of the proposed approach on IEEE-30 bus system, and the detailed analysis is carried out.

Opis:
Hybridization of meta-heuristic algorithms plays a major role in the optimization problem. In this paper, a new hybrid meta-heuristic algorithm called hybrid pathfinder algorithm (HPFA) is proposed to solve the optimal reactive power dispatch (ORPD) problem. The superiority of the Differential Evolution (DE) algorithm is the fast convergence speed, a mutation operator in the DE algorithm incorporates into the pathfinder algorithm (PFA). The main objective of this research is to minimize the real power losses and subject to equality and inequality constraints. The HPFA is used to find optimal control variables such as generator voltage magnitude, transformer tap settings and capacitor banks. The proposed HPFA is implemented through several simulation cases on the IEEE 118-bus system and IEEE 300-bus power system. Results show the superiority of the proposed algorithm with good quality of optimal solutions over existing optimization techniques, and hence confirm its potential to solve the ORPD problem.

The investigation of thermal modulation on double-diffusive stationary convection in the presence of an applied magnetic field and internal heating is carried out. A weakly nonlinear stability analysis has been performed using the finite-amplitude Ginzburg-Landau model. This finite amplitude of convection is obtained at the third order of the system. The study considers three different forms of temperature modulations. OPM-out of phase modulation, LBMO-lower boundary modulation, IPM-in phase modulation. The finite-amplitude is a function of amplitude ,Tδ frequency ω and the phase differenceθ . The effects of Tδ and ω on heat/mass transports have been analyzed and depicted graphically. The study shows that heat/mass transports can be controlled effectively by thermal modulation. Further, it is found that the internal Rayleigh number iR enhances heat transfer and reduces the mass transfer in the system.

Opis:
Activated carbon is a solid carbon compound that is composed of carbon in the form of charcoal. It plays a major role in some industrial applications such as water and air purification because of the strong adsorption of its surfaces and its tendency to remove some volatile organic compounds (VOC) and most of contaminants from the water, air or some other material. Various base materials are used in the manufacturing of activated carbon, including different woods and certain synthetic materials. According to the scope of new research, it is possible to produce activated carbon economically using coconut shell waste products. In our work, the coconut shells were burnt using a muffle furnace and at a range of temperatures in 300 ºC - 390 ºC. The elemental compositions of manufactured activated carbon were analyzed using X-ray fluorescence (XRF) spectrophotometer, while the surfaces of manufactured activated carbon were microscopically analyzed using an optical microscope. Thus, the range of 330 ºC - 350 ºC was considered as the most adequate temperatures for the manufacturing process of activated carbon from these coconut shells. Beyond the non-metal carbon, 68.85% Fe and 31.15% K are generated.

Opis:
In 1966, Cummins introduced the “tree graph”: the tree graph \( \textbf{T} (G) \) of a graph \( G \) (possibly infinite) has all its spanning trees as vertices, and distinct such trees correspond to adjacent vertices if they differ in just one edge, i.e., two spanning trees \( T_1 \) and \( T_2 \) are adjacent if \( T_2 = T_1 − e + f \) for some edges \( e \in T_1 \) and \( f \notin T_1 \). The tree graph of a connected graph need not be connected. To obviate this difficulty we define the “forest graph”: let \( G \) be a labeled graph of order \( \alpha \), finite or infinite, and let \( \mathfrak{N}(G) \) be the set of all labeled maximal forests of \( G \). The forest graph of \( G \), denoted by \( \textbf{F} (G) \), is the graph with vertex set \( \mathfrak{N}(G) \) in which two maximal forests \( F_1 \), \( F_2 \) of \( G \) form an edge if and only if they differ exactly by one edge, i.e., \( F_2 = F_1 − e + f \) for some edges \( e \in F_1 \) and \( f \notin F_1 \). Using the theory of cardinal numbers, Zorn’s lemma, transfinite induction, the axiom of choice and the well-ordering principle, we determine the F-convergence, F-divergence, F-depth and F-stability of any graph \( G \). In particular it is shown that a graph \( G \) (finite or infinite) is F-convergent if and only if \( G \) has at most one cycle of length 3. The F-stable graphs are precisely \( K_3 \) and \( K_1 \). The F-depth of any graph \( G \) different from \( K_3 \) and \( K_1 \) is finite. We also determine various parameters of \( \mathbf{F} (G) \) for an infinite graph \( G \), including the number, order, size, and degree of its components.

Opis:
A natural fiber reinforced polymer matrix composites (FRCs) was prepared by the compression molding method. The natural fiber named Coccinia indica (CI) was employed to fabricate FRCs. The impact of fiber length on storage modulus, loss modulus and loss of weight in the FRCs were determined using dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The results revealed that a fiber length of 40 mm shows better storage modulus and nominal loss modulus owing to the higher interfacial bonding between fiber and matrix. In other investigated fiber lengths, the storage modulus is poor and loss modulus is high, which is due to inefficient stress transfer.
Metodą wytłaczania przygotowano próbki kompozytów (FRC) na osnowie polimerowej wzmocnionej włóknami naturalnymi Coccinia indica (CI). Wpływ długości zastosowanych włókien na moduł zachowawczy, moduł stratności i ubytek masy badanych FRC oceniano za pomocą dynamicznej analizy mechanicznej (DMA) i analizy termograwimetrycznej (TGA). Stwierdzono, że kompozyty z udziałem włókien o długości 40 mm wykazują korzystniejszy moduł zachowawczy i nominalny moduł stratności, dzięki lepszemu wiązaniu międzyfazowemu włókna z osnową. W wypadku kompozytów z zawartością włókien o innych długościach moduł zachowawczy jest mały, a moduł stratności duży, co wynika z nieefektywnego przenoszenia naprężeń.
