    RESEARCH OBJECTIVE: The article presents the way in which the narration concerning the identity of the town of Sanok is created. The aim of the article is to show who and how “tells the town’s story.” The subjects of the study are narrations functioning in the social space of Sanok. THE RESEARCH PROBLEM AND METHODS: The research proceeded to establish the “content” of the place’s identity, the entities that construct it, and the ways of maintaining and manifesting them. It was based on the existing data i.e. Sanok photo albums, guide books or websites. The first stage of the research depended on the quantitative analysis whereas in the second stage the data was processed using the qualitative analysis to discover and reveal individual perspectives of perceiving the city adopted by the authors of the texts. THE PROCESS OF ARGUMENTATION: The article describes the process of building a narration on the identity of the place, which is a response to the crisis caused by the process of systemic transformation. It shows how different narrations on the identity of the town are constructed and how they are changed when the socio-economic situation of Sanok is changing. RESEARCH RESULTS: The data analysis shows that the identity of Sanok is a social construct influenced by many factors. It is not stable and it is being constructed all the time. CONCLUSION, INNOVATIONS, AND RECOMMENDATIONS: Each decade brings changes in the perception of the town’s identity. The changing socio-political and economic situation will change the existing narration, which is worth investigating.

    Der Artikel beschreibt das Schaffen der Künstlerinnen der visuellen Künste, die in polnischer Kunst um 2000 debütierten und deren Arbeiten zu der als "Kunst der Frauen" bezeichneten Strömung gehören. Der Schlüssel zu ihrer Welt ist der Alltag, der im Kontext der traditionellen sozialen Rollenbilder der Frau als Hausfrau, Ehefrau und Mutter erfahren wird. Die Künstlerinnen rebellieren gegen die Schwierigkeiten mit dem Berufsaufstieg, gegen die Geringschätzung ihrer Tätigkeit als weniger wertvoll sowie gegen die persönlich gemünzten Anspielungen auf die natürliche Berufung der Frauen, indem sie auf ironische Weise die Bestandteile ihrer beruflichen Lage und ihrer Frauenrolle künstlerisch verarbeiten. Sie laden den an erweiterte Metaphern und versteckte Symbole gewöhnten Zuschauer zum Miterleben des Alltags, zur Konfrontation mit Stereotypen, aber auch zum Nachdenken über die Werte ein.
    Artykuł opisuje twórczość artystek sztuk wizualnych, które debiutowały w polskiej sztuce około 2000 roku, a prace ich zaliczane są do nurtu nazwanego „sztuką kobiet”. Kluczem do ich świata jest codzienność, doświadczana w kontekście ról społecznych tradycyjnie przypisanych kobietom, takich jak gospodyni domowa, żona i matka. Artystki buntując się przeciwko trudnościom jakie napotykają w budowaniu kariery, lekceważeniu ich twórczości jako mniej wartościowej czy kierowanym pod ich adresem aluzjom dotyczącym naturalnego powołania kobiet, zaczęły w sposób ironiczny artystycznie przepracowywać składowe swojej sytuacji zawodowej i położenia wynikającego z bycia kobietą. Przyzwyczajonego do rozbudowanych metafor i ukrytych symboli widza, artystki zapraszają do współprzeżywania codzienności, do konfrontacji ze stereotypami, ale również refleksji nad wartościami.
    Described is the creativity of women in visual arts following their debut about the year 2000. Women artists representing this Polish feminist art movement are drawing inspiration from their everyday life experienced in their social roles traditionally attributed to women as housewives, wives and mothers. Revolting in face of consequent impediments to building their career, berating hints by some as to maintaining the traditional role of women in society and taking issue with critics derogating the feminist art movement, the artists set out to portray aspects of their vocational life and consequences of being a woman in an artistically paradoxical way. Viewers long used to extended metaphors and hidden symbols are invited by the artists to intuit women’s everyday life experiences, challenge gender stereotypes and reflect on values.

    Opis:
    The subject of the article is two art worlds in the field of visual arts which currently exist side by side in Poland. These worlds operate as part of two different paradigms of art, which is why two different definitions of the art and artist apply to them, and, in consequence, also different models of operation. What is important in the case of both communities is the process of constructing the difference and separating out their own communities of meanings, being a strategy to lend credence to their own concept of the art and artist, as well as their position in the art world. The aim of the article is to describe the process of constructing internal boundaries in the Polish art world and its division into two separate worlds, what means have been used in that process, as well as what are the consequences of belonging to the two separate art worlds for their participants.
    Przedmiotem artykułu są dwa światy artystyczne w obszarze sztuk wizualnych, które obecnie działają obok siebie w Polsce. Światy te funkcjonują w ramach dwóch różnych paradygmatów sztuki, przez co obowiązują w nich dwie różne definicje sztuki i artysty, a co za tym idzie, również różne modele działań. W przypadku obydwu wspólnot istotny jest proces konstruowania różnicy i wyodrębnienia własnej wspólnoty znaczeń, jako strategii uprawomocnienia własnej koncepcji sztuki i artysty oraz własnej, zajmowanej w świecie artystycznym (ang. art world) pozycji. Celem artykułu jest pokazanie, jak przebiega proces konstruowania wewnętrznych granic w polskim art world, a także jego podział na dwa odrębne światy oraz to, jakich środków użyto w owym procesie i jakie konsekwencje niesie przynależność do odrębnych światów artystycznych dla ich uczestników.
