    This article is devoted to the theoretical legacy of Oskar Hansen - Theory of Open Form and Linear Continuous System. Oskar Hansen was a Polish architect who began his activities during the Modernism. The impulse to write this article was given by the publication of Zaczyn. O Zofii i Oskarze Hansenach by Filip Springer. The author of that book has recalled Hansen’s architectural achievements. The article oscillates around the figure of Oskar Hansen, his concepts and accomplishments. From the point of this publication it was important to define the objectives of the concepts of the Theory of Open Form and Linear Continuous System. The purpose of the article was to point out architectural fulfilment of Hansen’s theoretical assumptions in already existing contemporary Poznań’s spatial reality and present new ones that are planned.

    Artykuł traktuje o możliwych przejawach postępującego procesu celebrytyzacji polityki z uwzględnieniem języka komentarzy, jakie pojawiają się na plotkarskich portalach internetowych. Te ostatnie także stają się bowiem miejscem specyficznie rozumianej kreacji wizerunkowej osób/podmiotów związanych z polityką. Sam sposób tej kreacji sprowadza się do publikowania treści związanych raczej ze sferą prywatną lub półprywatną, a na pewno niemającą związku z aktywnością tych osób/podmiotów na arenie politycznej. Dodatkowo obserwować daje się także daleko posunięty proces wulgaryzacji i brutalizacji języka tych komentarzy, co również jest zjawiskiem specyficznym.
    This article deals with the possible manifestations of the ongoing process of the celebritization of politics in the view of the language of comments that occur on gossip websites which, in fact, have become the places of the deliberate image-creation of people related to politics. The means of creation comes down to publishing content associated with the private or semi-private lives of people who are engaged in politics. In addition, we can also observe a far-reaching process of the vulgarization and brutalization of the language of comments and entries which is also a specific phenomenon.

    The purpose of this paper is to describe the musical concept of angel singing and the iconography of angel horns in the culture of Russian Old Believers in the 19th century. From the mid-17th century, the Old Believers rejected the new customs of the Muscovite official Church, including musical traditions, and accepted only vocal music. Musical instruments in Old Russian and Old Believer art depicted on icons and miniatures were based primarily on Byzantine models. Further examples can be given from the Book of the Apocalypse and on eschatological icons, which show angels playing the horn. The article discusses items from a 19th century Apocalypse from the collection of the National Library in Warsaw and icons from the National Museum in Warsaw. Angels with horns announce the approaching of the Last Judgement. These images are symbolic in meaning and do not refer to musical practices.

    This paper pertains to the relationship between the veneration of icons and the acts of their insult in nineteenth-century Imperial Russia, the starting point of which are fragments of the polemical writings of Fyodor Dostoevsky (about The Sealed Angel by Nikolai Leskov) and his novel Demons. Dostoevsky often touches on the subject of popular beliefs, reactions to inappropriate behaviour towards icons. He also deals with the issue of the material value of icons. The works of the writer (and other authors) contained descriptions of the feelings evoked by icons and the ways of handling with them among Russians. Therefore, these texts should be taken into account in future studies of nineteenth-century icons.

    This paper concerns depiction of saint children in Russian iconography of 19th century. Starting point is an icon of Hexaemeron from the beginning of the 19th century, from the collection of National Museum in Warsaw. The center of its iconopraphic program is a theological story of the creation of the world with representations relating to the history of universal and Russian Orthodox Church. At the bottom of the border of the icon there is a scene of murder of tsarevitch Dmitry, the youngest son of Ivan the Terrible, killed in Uglich in 1591. The death of the boy marked the beginning of many dark events in the Russian history. This article attempts to answer the question regarding the meaning of the depictions of Dmitry’s death in iconography, in the context of childern’s iconography in the late Russian icons.

    The article discusses the role of Alexander Nevsky – a Russian prince and a saint of Orthodox Church. Russian writing sources describe him primarily as a winner of the battles against the Swedes in 1240 (the battle of Neva) and the forces of the Livonian Order and Bishopric of Dorpat in 1242 (the Battle on the Ice) and prince who became a monk before his death in 1263. The cult of Alexander began shortly after his death however, its enormous development came only later. The popularity of saint prince increased during the times of Ivan Terrible – after the mid-16th century and in the age of Peter the Great – in the 18th century. The oldest preserved icons of Alexander come from the second half of 16th century and show him as a holy monk. In the 18th-20th centuries the art of official church is dominated by images of Alexander as a ruler and victorious warrior.

    Opis:
    The effect of carotenoids on stability of model photosynthetic pigment-protein complexes subjected to chemical oxidation with hydrogen peroxide or potassium ferricyanide was investigated. The oxidation of carotenoid-less and carotenoid-containing complexes was conducted in the presence or absence of ascorbic acid. The progress of the reactions was monitored by use of absorption and fluorescence spectroscopy. Our results show that carotenoids may significantly enhance the stability of photosynthetic complexes against oxidation and their protective (antioxidant) effect depends on the type of the oxidant.
