Opis:
VINΦ$\text{}_{2}$(TCNQ)$\text{}_{2}$ is a salt with two different, non-parallel TCNQ stacks. The polarized reflectance spectra from single crystals in the IR region 660-5200 cm$\text{}^{-1}$, the powder absorption spectra 400-45000 cm$\text{}^{-1}$ and FT-NIR Raman spectra of VINΦ$\text{}_{2}$(TCNQ)$\text{}_{2}$ are measured at room temperature. Moreover, the temperature dependence of powder absorption spectra in the frequency range 400-7900 cm$\text{}^{-1}$ are studied. The nature of electronic bands, the anisotropy of optical conductivity, the temperature dependence of some vibrational bands and the charge distribution on different TCNQ stacks are discussed.

Opis:
Swine dysentery (SD) is a common disease among pigs worldwide, which contributes to major production losses. Antimicrobial susceptibility testing of B. hyodysenteriae, the etiological agent of SD, is mainly performed by the agar dilution method. This method has certain limitations due to difficulties in interpretation of results. The aim of this study was the analysis of antimicrobial susceptibility of Brachyspira hyodysenteriae (B. hyodysenteriae) Polish field isolates by broth microdilution procedure. The study was performed on 21 isolates of B. hyodysenteriae, collected between January 2006 to December 2010 from cases of swine dysentery. VetMIC™ Brachyspira panels with antimicrobial agents (tiamulin, valnemulin, doxycycline, lincomycin, tylosin and ampicillin) were used for susceptibility testing of B. hyodysenteriae. The minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) was determined by the broth dilution procedure. The lowest antimicrobial activity was demonstrated for tylosin and lincomycin, with inhibition of bacterial growth using concentrations >128 μg/ml and 32 μg/ml, respectively. In the case of doxycycline, the MIC values were ≤ 2.0 μg/ml. No decreased susceptibility to tiamulin was found among the Polish isolates and MIC values for this antibiotic did not exceed 1.0 μg/ml. The results of the present study confirmed that Polish B. hyodysenteriae isolates were susceptible to the main antibiotics (tiamulin and valnemulin) used in treatment of swine dysentery. Further studies are necessary to evaluate a possible slow decrease in susceptibility to tiamulin and valnemulin of B. hyodysenteriae strains in Poland.

Opis:
Purpose:To present the results of research and evaluation study of the legal regulations and rules directly linked and connected to midwives' scope of practice and provide a response on how the professional population of midwives can act as adequate and independent medical providers in the threat of a mass terrorist attack and/or a life-threatening mass disaster event. Materials and methods: The data derives from the Supreme Chamber of Nurses and Midwives in Poland; National Council of Nurses and Midwives in Poland; Gazette of the Republic of Poland, Journal of Laws; curriculum outlines for professional midwifery higher education in Poland; scientific literature, scientific recommendations. The qualitative research method to the data sources in 2018 were used. Results: In the event of a mass terrorist attack and/or a life-threatening mass disaster, the possibility of a pregnant, birthing or postpartum woman and her newborn obtaining proper medical attention from a midwife is questionable. Conclusions:The threat of terrorism in the European Union has grown. A new implications are necessary for policy and practice to keep midwives in their profession to provide adequate quality and quantity of health care in event of a mass terrorist attack and/or a life-threatening mass disaster. In our study we found: a terrorist threat as a gap in the teaching of obstetrics and midwifery; restricted availability of pharmacological agents for use by non-military midwives in event of a terrorist attack and/or a life-threatening mass disaster; lack of authorizations under a midwife license to perform PCD and /or PMCD.
