Vibronic spectra of Gd$\text{}^{3+}$ in Cs$\text{}_{2}$NaGdCl$\text{}_{6}$ were measured under one- and two-photon excitations. Following the vibrational analysis of the Cs$\text{}_{2}$NaGdCl$\text{}_{6}$ crystal an assignment of vibronic transitions was proposed. It was found that the vibronic transitions in one- and two-photon spectra are combined with the odd parity modes.

The oscillator strengths of f-f transitions and the Judd-Ofelt parameters were evaluated. The assignment of vibronic transitions is given and mechanism of emission decay is discussed.

In this work we report both experimental and theoretical studies regarding the Cs$\text{}_{2}$NaTmCl$\text{}_{6}$ elpasolite-type system, for which we have an updated database from linear and nonlinear optics. Both the absorption and the emission spectra for this system are rather complicated and a generalized vibronic crystal field-closure-ligand polarization calculation model has been employed to rationalize the observed spectral intensities. The calculation has been carried out by neglecting the interaction among the internal and the external vibrations and theoretical calculations have been performed with reference to both the emissions $\text{}^{3}$H$\text{}_{4}$(Γ$\text{}_{i}$)>$\text{}^{3}$F$\text{}_{4}$(Γ$\text{}_{j}$) and the absorptions $\text{}^{3}$H$\text{}_{6}$(A$\text{}_{1}$)> $\text{}^{3}$F$\text{}_{4}$(Γ$\text{}_{i}$), $\text{}^{1}$G$\text{}_{4}$(Γ$\text{}_{i}$), $\text{}^{3}$H$\text{}_{5}$(Γ$\text{}_{l}$) withΓ$\text{}_{k}$ (k=i,j)=A$\text{}_{1}$,E,T$\text{}_{1}$,T$\text{}_{2}$ andΓ$\text{}_{l}$=E, $\text{}^{a}$T$\text{}_{1}$, $\text{}^{b}$T$\text{}_{1}$,T$\text{}_{2}$. The advantages and disadvantages of our model calculation are discussed in the text, and despite the simplicity of the model it is shown that it has got some utility and flexibility to gain understanding in these complex phenomena.

The optical excitation and emission spectra of Eu(III) in [Eu$\text{}_{x}$La$\text{}_{1-x}$(AP)$\text{}_{6}$](ClO$\text{}_{4}$)$\text{}_{3}$ centrosymmetric complex were measured. The vibronic transitions were observed in excitation and emission spectra. Following the vibrational analysis' of the infrared and Raman spectra of [Pr$\text{}_{x}$La$\text{}_{1-x}$(AP)$\text{}_{6}$](ClO$\text{}_{4}$)$\text{}_{3}$, the assignment of [Eu$\text{}_{x}$La$\text{}_{1-x}$(AP)$\text{}_{6}$](ClO$\text{}_{4}$)$\text{}_{3}$ vibronics was given The concentration effect on excitation and emission spectra was investigated. It was found that the vibronic intensities were changed upon the concentration effect. The intensive charge transfer bands were observed in blue region. Their intensities decreased with increasing concentration.

Opis:
The effect of stereoselectivity on energy transfer between Tb(III) and Eu(III) in crystals with glutamic acid and alanine was investigated. It was found that the stereoselectivity significantly changes the energy transfer in these systems. The theoretical model for the selective dependent energy transfer processes in lanthanide systems is developed and the nature of processes occurring in both systems under investigation briefly discussed.

Opis:
Silica sol-gel glasses doped with Eu$\text{}^{3+}$ ions were obtained by different preparation techniques. The absorption, emission and excitation spectra of the obtained glasses were measured in the range of 77-300 K. The energy level diagrams of Eu$\text{}^{3+}$ ions were derived. An intensity analysis of f-f transitions was performed. In particular, polymeric structure behaviour of europium compounds entrapped in silica gels glasses was temperature controlled during the preparation of glasses. Their optical properties were investigated.

We report explicit vibronic intensity calculations for the |$\text{}^{4}$S$\text{}_{3}\text{}_{/}\text{}_{2}$ Γ$\text{}_{8}$> → |$\text{}^{4}$I$\text{}_{15}\text{}_{/}\text{}_{2}$ Γ>excitations in the Cs$\text{}_{2}$NaErCl$\text{}_{6}$ elpasolite-type systems, based upon new and updated experimental data, obtained from optical absorption measurements made at 10 K, in the energy range from 6,000 up to 26,000 cm$\text{}^{-1}$. Our calculation model is a generalization of the vibronic crystal field-ligand polarization method and the calculation is performed using a minimum set of adjustable parameters - all and each of them have a clear physical meaning. Our strategy was chosen so as to make a significant distinction with previous calculations, performed by other authors, who have worked out a model originated from a supra-parameterized scheme, within the framework of the superposition model of Newman. Throughout the course of the current work, it is shown that our model is suitable to handle this kind of calculations and also that the numerical results obtained are in fairly good agreement with experiment.

Opis:
The sol-gel derived silica spheres with surfaces modified by silver nanoparticles were used to enhance the photodynamic effect. The silica nanoparticles were prepared by modified Stöber synthesis. The diameter of obtained silica spheres was ca. 100 nm. These silica spheres we used as a carrier for noble nanoparticles. It was shown that Ag-Au nanoparticles have an antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli. This effect depends on the nanoparticles concentration and it is stronger for higher concentrations. Laser irradiation enhances this effect, and starting from certain concentration it is possible to kill Escherichia coli, totally, when using laser light.

The sol-gel derived silica spheres with surfaces modified by silver nanoparticles were used to enhance the emission efficiency of PDTphotosensitizer Photolon. Two various materials with different Ag concentrations were prepared by exploiting the Tollen's method. The silica nanoparticles were prepared by modified Stöber synthesis. The diameter of obtained silica spheres was ca. 100nm. These silica spheres we used as a carrier for noble nanoparticles, since they can be easily doped by various substances that can change their physical and chemical properties. The colloidal water solutions of Ag-doped SiO2 particles have been prepared. It was demonstrated that the fluorescence intensity of Photolon is influenced by silver nanoparticles concentration, however it is not proportional to the silver concentration. The fluorescence intensity of Photolon with silver doped silica nanoparticles is much higher then fluorescence intensity of Photolon in water solution. This result is very promising and may be used to enhance the photodynamic effect.
