Opis:
W ostatnich latach jednym z ważniejszych kierunków postępu techniczno-technologicznego w przemyśle włókienniczym jest dążenie do zmniejszenia wodochłonności energochłonności poszczególnych operacji produkcyjnych, szczególnie zaś operacji wykończalniczych.
A new technology of water and energy recovery was implemented in one of Polish textile company, where textile wastewater was treated by coagulation and precipitation. The crude, hot wastewater leaving the dye-house was contacted counter-currently with fresh cold water in a tubular heat exchanger, and after physicalchemical treatment was turn back to the process in 1:1 ratio with fresh water. Due to closing the water circuit and heat recovery form hot crude dying wastewater the energy saving was in the range of 2500 MWh/y.

Opis:
This paper introduces a new method for an adaptive synthesis of a wavelet transform using a fast neural network with a topology based on the lattice structure. The lattice structure and the orthogonal lattice structure are presented and their properties are discussed. A novel method for unsupervised training of the neural network is introduced. The proposed approach is tested by synthesizing new wavelets with an expected energy distribution between low- and high-pass filters. Energy compaction of the proposed method and Daubechies wavelets is compared. Tests are performed using sound and image signals.

Opis:
In this paper a new method for adaptive synthesis of a smooth orthogonal wavelet, using fast neural network and genetic algorithm, is introduced. Orthogonal lattice structure is presented. A new method of supervised training of fast neural network is introduced to synthesize a wavelet with desired energy distribution between output signals from low–pass and high–pass filters on subsequent levels of a Discrete Wavelet Transform. Genetic algorithm is proposed as a global optimization method for defined objective function, while neural network is used as a local optimization method to further improve the result. Proposed approach is tested by synthesizing wavelets with expected energy distribution between low– and high–pass filters. Energy compaction of proposed method and Daubechies wavelets is compared. Tests are performed using image signals.

Opis:
The study concerned changing status of water retention within an unique nature complex of the Białowieża Primeval Forest. The retention was evaluated based on an analysis of research results on water outflow from the lowland catchment of the river Łutownia – representative for physiographic conditions as well as those of habitats and tree stands in Poland’s part of the Forest. The catchment in the lowland hydrometric dissection at the Pogorzelce village – Old Białowieża Wilderness, covers the area of 120.1 km2 with natural flow conditions preserved. A unified sequence of measurements carried out since 1966 using unchanged methodology with respect to precipitation, air temperature and forest management status allowed to separate different phases of changes occurring in water resources of this protected forest complex. There were appraised periodical runoff changes and cycles including a decrease in water resources which occurred at the turn of the century. The retention capacity of the catchment was determined based on periodical changes in rainfall-runoff relations and the ongoing process of deteriorating water conditions of forest ecosystem was interpreted.

Opis:
The influence of water conditions on the condition and growth of tree stands has been analysed in the context of the climatic and hydrological functions forest plays. Long observational series obtained for precipitation, outflow and depths below the surface of the water table have been put together with measured increases in the breast-height diameters of Scots pines and the severity of crown defoliation observable in selected tree species growing on the Polish Lowland, in order to determine the overall scope to the reaction stand condition manifests in the face of ongoing variability of water conditions within forest. An overall improvement in the condition of stands over the last 20 years does not disguise several-year cyclicity to changes capable of shaping the situation, i.a. departures from long-term mean values for precipitation totals and groundwater levels. The condition of stands is seen to worsen in both dry and wet years. Analysis of the degree to which pine, spruce and broadleaved stands experience defoliation points to spruce stands responding most to extreme hydro-climatic conditions. Extreme situations as regards water resources were seen to involve a response over two-year time intervals in the case of coniferous stands. Unsurprisingly, optimal growing-season (June-September) precipitation totals correspond with long-term average figures, while being slightly higher for spruce (at 384 mm), than for Scots pine or broadleaved species (375 mm). The relationships reported gain confirmation in analysis of periodic change in breast-height diameter increments characterising Scots pines, whose growth is seen to depend closely, not only on precipitation, but also above all on the depth of the water table in the summer half-year. Optimal depths of the water table proved to be different, being around 20 cm below ground in the case of marshy coniferous forest, 80 cm in wet habitats, and 135 cm in fresh habitats. Depending on the possibilities for water to soak into the rooting zone of trees there were even twofold differences in measured growth increments in Scots pine (as the dominant species in Poland’s lowland habitats). The maintenance of stable water conditions (as the most variable environmental factor in forest) should be an overriding aim of management activity in this habitat. When account is taken of the influence of the state of water resources on biomass production, and then on the intensity of evapotranspiration and the absorption of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, it is seen how important it is to achieve improvements in water conditions in forests, as such an important factor in combating climate change.
