Opis:
Mobility management aims to change preferences related to the way people travel. Many European documents point this direction to congested cities and solving the problem of transport congestion is considered as a challenge. In order to be effective in this area, it is essential to change the approach to sustainable development in cities. One of the tools to change this approach is to develop mobility plans for workplaces. They are attractive since are relatively inexpensive and can contribute significantly to dealing with the problem of traffic congestion and air pollution. The article presents the different components of the mobility plan (analytical, design, binding, evaluative) and examples of activities planned for workplaces. Also examples of indicators for monitoring the level of implementation of planned measures (product indicators) and the basics set of the mobility plan assessment indicators are presented.

Opis:
The article presents results of research aimed at construction of the model for evaluation of potential impact of mobility management instruments implemented in areas of high volume of work related trips. The model helps forecast the impact of the instruments application on the changes in modal split. In proposed approach the potential decrease in the car share depends on the improvement of public transport accessibility of the area and its current private transport accessibility. Due to the specific nature of the analyzed problem the elements of fuzzy set theory have been used to construct the model. To determine unknown volumes of decreases results achieved during implementation of mobility plans in the European workplaces with high number of employees have been taken under consideration. Approximation of the surface received as a result of fuzzy inference has been conducted using formula of multiple linear regression. Prepared model has been applied on the example of Cracow to evaluate of potential impact of mobility plans on the change in modal split.

Opis:
The front glass cover is the crucial part of commercially available silicon solar modules as it provides mechanical protection and environmental isolation. However, from a utility point of view the most important thing is how the glass cover influences the power generation of a photovoltaic (PV) module. Optical matching of the whole structure determines the number of photons absorbed by the solar cells and hence the produced photocurrent. In this study five types of PV glass were optically measured and characterized to find out useful information on transmittance and its character. Then, the results were compared with the electrical parameters of solar mini-modules employing each type of glass. Additionally, the work aimed to providing a low-cost measuring procedure to determine the influence of front glass on photovoltaic performance in small, laboratory scale preserving the Standard Test Conditions. An important aspect was an analysis of different types of glass texture. To confirm properness and adequacy of the analysis, the uncer- tainty aspect was discussed as well.

Opis:
This review summarises the research on phenolic compounds in apples in relation to their geographical origin, cultivars, technological processes, and human health effects due to their antioxidant activity and bioavailability. Apples are popular among consumers and are known as a rich source of vitamins, minerals, and biologically active compounds. In this review article, we have focused on their phenolic compounds. Some epidemiological studies have confirmed the protective effects of apples against chronic diseases, which can be linked to the high content of phenolics in plant tissues and their bioavailability. However, according to the available literature, the geographical origin and variety of apples influence the content of these bioactive compounds and are highly related to their antioxidant activity fluctuation. The gathered studies have confirmed that the choice of polyphenol-rich raw material as well as proper processing are important to achieve high-quality fruit-based products with a high content of antioxidants after a few stages of production. It was proven that the processing of apples could significantly modify the content of phenolics in the finished products, including juices, concentrates, vinegars, and ciders. For instance, the use of high pressure or vacuum has been proposed as a highly potent solution in inhibiting flavonoid degradation during intensive processing. Moreover, several methods have been screened to monitor the phenolic content and antioxidant activity of apple samples, based on spectrophotometry, HPLC, LC-MS, and LC-MS/MS techniques for chemical compound separation and identification. The main assumptions of these techniques and results obtained are described in this review.

Opis:
The ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) is widely used for solar modules encapsulation. During lamination process EVA melts and chemical bonds between polymer chains are created. Its number is tightly related to cross-linking degree and it is consider as a major quality reference for module encapsulation. The lamination can be described as a process with two stages: melting and curing where the typical temperature for curing is in the range from 145 to 175°C. In the present study, for the first time, comparison of three commercial available EVA foils with low curing temperature EVA (EVA LOW). For this reason, the temperature of following lamination processes was set from a range from 115 to 175°C. The behavior of cured EVA films under investigation EVA was determined with two approaches: with extraction and with optical methods. The results indicate the applicability of these methods for the EVA cross-linking characterization. Finally, the extraordinary behavior of EVA LOW foil was noticed.

In this study a two-step short wet etching was implemented for the black silicon formation. The proposed structure consists of two steps. The first step: wet acidic etched pits-like morphology with a quite new solution of lowering the texturization temperature and second step: wires structure obtained by a metal assisted etching (MAE). The temperature of the process was chosen due to surface development control and surface defects limitation during texturing process. This allowed to maintain better minority carrier lifetime compared to etching in ambient temperature. On the top of the acidic texture the wires were formed with optimized height of 350 nm. The effective reflectance of presented black silicon structure in the wavelength range of 300-1100 nm was equal to 3.65%.

Opis:
The nanoparticles of CH3NH3PbBr3 hybrid perovskites were synthesized. These perovskite nanoparticles we embedded in polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) in order to obtain the composite, which we used as light converter for silicon solar cells. It was shown that the composite emit the light with the intensity maximum at about 527 nm when exited by a short wavelength (300÷450 nm) of light. The silicon solar cells were used to examine the effect of down-conversion (DC) process by perovskite nanoparticles embedded in PMMA. For experiments, two groups of monocrystalline silicon solar cells were used. The first one included the solar cells without surface texturization and antireflection coating. The second one included the commercial cells with surface texturization and antireflection coating. In every series of the cells one part of the cells were covered by composite (CH3NH3PbBr3 in PMMA) layer and second part of cells by pure PMMA for comparison. It was shown that External Quantum Efficiency EQE of the photovoltaic cells covered by composite (CH3NH3PbBr3 in PMMA) layer was improved in both group of the cells but unfortunately the Internal Quantum Efficiency was reduced. This reduction was caused by high absorption of the short wavelength light and reabsorption of the luminescence light. Therefore, the CH3NH3PbBr3 perovskite nanoparticles embedded in PMMA matrix were unable to increase silicon solar cell efficiency in the tested systems.
