Opis:: It was found that the main mechanisms of action of 4-hydroxyphenylpyruvatedioxygenase inhibitors are the development of tyrosinemia and alternations in thyroid hormone level as a result of hepatic enzyme induction. The main target organs of its action are the eyes, liver and thyroid gland. It was proved that the most adequate model for extrapolation of the effects of tyrosinemia on humans are mice, because their tyrosine aminotransferase activity level is similar to that in humans.

Opis:: Artykuł dotyczy zagadnienia doboru materiałów zasypowych do likwidowanych szybów górniczych. Materiały te charakteryzować się powinny określonymi własnościami, zapewniającymi bezpieczeństwo zarówno podczas, jak i po zakończeniu procesu likwidacji szybu. Jedną z takich własności jest wodoprzepuszczalność, na którą wpływ ma skład ziarnowy danego materiału. W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań laboratoryjnych oraz dołowych, których celem była ocena zmian składu ziarnowego żużla stalowniczego i granitu. Dokonano oceny degradacji ziarnowej tych materiałów z uwagi na ich zrzut do likwidowanego szybu Żeromski w ZG „Piekary”. Przedstawiono degradację ziarnową dla dwóch głębokości zrzutu do szybu, tj. 190 m i i 303 m. Artykuł przedstawia również wyniki obliczeń numerycznych przeprowadzonych za pomocą programu PFC3D, których celem była ocena zmian składu ziarnowego żużla i granitu, dla większych głębokości zrzutu do likwidowanego szybu (do 1000 m).
This paper presents the issue of filling material selection used for mine shafts closure. These filling materials should be characterized by certain properties that provide security both during and after the shaft closure. One such property is the water permeability which is affected by the grain size distribution of the material. The paper presents the results of laboratory and underground tests of filling materials, whose aim was to assess the changes in grain size composition of metallurgical slag and granite. An assessment of grain degradation was made due to the dropping into the shaft “Żeromski” in “Piekary” colliery. The tests were performed in the active part of the shaft over its length up to a depth of 190 and 303 m. This paper also presents the results of numerical calculations performed by the use of PFC3D, whose aim was to assess the changes in grain composition of metallurgical slag and granite for larger heights of dropping to the shaft (up to 1000 m).

Opis:: The aim of this work is to produce the generative rootstocks for the wild pears, which will be of moderate denseness. The initial material is the population of wild pear in the area of Polimlje. The study focused on few segments. Very first one included recording of the phenological traits – first flowering, full flowering, end of flowering and harvest period. The other segment comprised pomological features, i.e. physical [fruit weight (g), fruit size (mm), mass of dry seed (g), and number of seed in 1 kg of the fruit]. Seeds from 9 selected genotypes of wild pears were planted in the nursery and raised seedlings were evaluated for nursery characteristics: germination, seedling vigor, uniformidty and branching. Raised seedlings were used as rootstocks for scion cultivar ‘Grand Champion’. The most important benefit of this study is the fact that the parent trees, the seeds of which provide the best morphological and physiological characteristics for the production of generative rootstocks, were found and favored (in situ). Results of this research show that the rapid growth and uniformity of scions depend on the genetic characteristics of generative rootstocks of selected genotypes of wild pears, such as: plant height, stem diameter (corpulence), branching and uniformity. The selected genotypes, especially ‘Genotype 11’, proved to be the best for mountainous areas of the north of Montenegro, higher altitudes and poorer types of soil. The ‘Genotype 11’ is suggested as the best option for the production of generative rootstocks due to its small vigour level.

Opis:: The Ca50Mg20Zn12Cu18 was assessed with different methods in order to characterize its basic characteristics, and to determine whether the amorphous alloy of such composition would be applicable as an implant material. The XRD analysis was conducted to conclude the structure of the initial material. The Ca50Mg20Zn12Cu18 ingot sample demonstrates crystalline structure containing two main intermetallic phases, however as-cast plates show features of an amorphous material, revealing the characteristic amorphous halo on the x-ray patterns. It was confirmed by the scanning electron microscopy method and fracture images revealing chevron pattern morphology with shell type fracture. Corrosion resistance, was studied using the potentiostatic analysis. The amorphous samples show higher resistance than the crystalline one. Post corrosion surface of the Ca50Mg20Zn12Cu18 alloy exhibits high concentration of magnesium and calcium hydroxides, forming the globular structures in large aggregates of spherical units.

Opis:: A coated nitrogen-phosphorus-potassium (NPK) fertilizer was prepared via crosslinking chitosan and alginate using citric acid. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), particle size analysis, and zeta potential measurement showed the successful crosslinking, appropriate size, and colloidal stability of the coated NPK fertilizer. The encapsulation capability of the crosslinked chitosan/alginate (Chi/Alg) was studied using fluorescence spectroscopy and NPK analysis. The release behavior studies under various pH conditions showed that Chi/Alg NPK conformed to the standards of controlled release fertilizer with a maximum release rate of 40% for 30 days. The investigation of the release mechanism using Korsemeyer-Peppas mathematical model showed that the release of nutrients is governed by both coating material relaxation and diffusion process.

Opis:: The effect of hydrotropes such as sodium salicylate, sodium benzoate, and nicotinamide on the solubility and mass transfer coefficient of benzoic acid has been investigated. The solubility studies were carried out under a wide range of hydrotrope concentrations (0 to 3.0 mol/L) and different system temperatures (303K to 333K). It has been observed that the solubility and mass transfer coefficient of benzoic acid increases with an increase in hydrotrope concentration and also with system temperature. A Minimum Hydrotrope Concentration (MHC) was found essential to initiate a significant increase in the solubility and the mass transfer coefficient. The maximum enhancement factor (?s), which is the ratio of the solubility value in the presence and absence of a hydrotrope, has been determined for all sets of experimentations. The solubility of benzoic acid has been enhanced to 19.98 times in the presence of 2.5 mol/L concentration of sodium salicylate hydrotrope at 333K.The effectiveness of hydrotropes was measured in terms of Setschenow constant Ks and the highest value has been observed as 0.502 for sodium salicylate.
