Opis:
The Gaussian mixture model (GMM) method is popular and efficient for voice conversion (VC), but it is often subject to overfitting. In this paper, the principal component regression (PCR) method is adopted for the spectral mapping between source speech and target speech, and the numbers of principal components are adjusted properly to prevent the overfitting. Then, in order to better model the nonlinear relationships between the source speech and target speech, the kernel principal component regression (KPCR) method is also proposed. Moreover, a KPCR combined with GMM method is further proposed to improve the accuracy of conversion. In addition, the discontinuity and oversmoothing problems of the traditional GMM method are also addressed. On the one hand, in order to solve the discontinuity problem, the adaptive median filter is adopted to smooth the posterior probabilities. On the other hand, the two mixture components with higher posterior probabilities for each frame are chosen for VC to reduce the oversmoothing problem. Finally, the objective and subjective experiments are carried out, and the results demonstrate that the proposed approach shows greatly better performance than the GMM method. In the objective tests, the proposed method shows lower cepstral distances and higher identification rates than the GMM method. While in the subjective tests, the proposed method obtains higher scores of preference and perceptual quality.

Opis:
A novel VC (voice conversion) method based on hybrid SVR (support vector regression) and GMM (Gaussian mixture model) is presented in the paper, the mapping abilities of SVR and GMM are exploited to map the spectral features of the source speaker to those of target ones. A new strategy of F0 transfor- mation is also presented, the F0s are modeled with spectral features in a joint GMM and predicted from the converted spectral features using the SVR method. Subjective and objective tests are carried out to evaluate the VC performance; experimental results show that the converted speech using the proposed method can obtain a better quality than that using the state-of-the-art GMM method. Meanwhile, a VC method based on non-parallel data is also proposed, the speaker-specific information is investigated us- ing the SVR method and preliminary subjective experiments demonstrate that the proposed method is feasible when a parallel corpus is not available.

Opis:
Accelerated degradation test at high temperature level is a common method to accelerate the degradation of products by elevating temperature, and the obtained degradation data are then used to obtain the estimate of the performance at normal temperature after extrapolating the degradation through accelerating model. However, the normal temperature is ever-changing rather than constant. Therefore, a generalized equivalent temperature model based on power law degradation path is proposed to establish a connection between accelerated degradation data and degradation data at normal temperature. The model takes the equal degradation measure as a principle and the conclusion is demonstrated that the increments of the degradation under the same magnitude, same time and different orders of temperature stresses are same. The result shows that the empirical equivalent temperature model is a special case of the proposed model. The accuracy of the proposed model is finally demonstrated by a case study of nitrile rubber O-rings.

Opis:
LAMP is an innovative, simple, rapid, specific and cost- -effective nucleic acid amplification method. Due to the use of a special enzyme – GspSSD polymerase, the reaction takes a short time and can be performed at isothermal conditions. The sensitivity and specificity of LAMP technique is significantly higher, than standard PCR techniques, as two or three specific primer pairs are used. The technique is regarded as a useful tool for the detection and identification of plant pathogens. In this work, LAMP was used to study the composition of the population of fungi of the genus Leptosphaeria, causing a damaging disease of oilseed rape, called blackleg or stem canker. The detection concerned DNA present in fungal spores contained in air samples obtained using Hirst-type volumetric trap, in Pomerania (north Poland) in 2010. The results achieved using the LAMP technique were similar to these obtained with previously used, highly specific method of Real-time PCR. Conducting LAMP reaction was much easier and less time-and cost-consuming, due to a simplified method of DNA isolation of pathogens from plant tissues. Then, the LAMP technique was used to assess the composition of the population of Leptosphaeria spp. in plants of oilseed rape collected from the field in the Opole region (south-western part of Poland) in 2013. In contrast to studies conducted in 2002–2003, the analysis of leaf symptoms showed a higher proportion of L. maculans compared to L. biglobosa, what reflects changes in the composition of pathogen population of fungi causing blackleg on oilseed rape in this part of Poland.
Amplifikacja DNA w warunkach izotermicznych z wykorzystaniem starterów zapętlających (Loop Mediated Isothermal Amplification, LAMP) to innowacyjny, prosty, szybki, specyficzny i niedrogi sposób amplifikacji kwasów nukleinowych. Dzięki zastosowaniu specjalnego enzymu – polimerazy GspSSD, reakcja trwa krótko i można ją przeprowadzić w warunkach izotermicznych.

Truck arrival management (TAM) has been recognized as an effective solution to alleviate the gate congestion at container terminals. To further utilize TAM in improving the overall terminal performance, this study integrates TAM with the other terminal operations at a tactical level. An integrated planning model and a sequential planning model are presented to coordinate the major terminal planning activities, including quayside berth allocation, yard storage space allocation and TAM. A heuristic-based genetic algorithm is developed to solve the models. A range of numerical examinations are performed to compare two planning models. The result shows that: the integrated model can improve the terminal performance significantly from the sequential model alone, particularly when the gate capacity and the yard capacity are relatively low; whereas the sequential model is more efficient than the integrated model in terms of computational time.

Purpose: The aim of this study is to propose a method to construct corneal biomechanical model which is the foundation for simulation of corneal microsurgery. Methods: Corneal material has two significant characteristics: hyperelastic and viscoelastic. Firstly, Mooney–Rivlin hyperelastic model of cornea obtained based on stored-energy function can be simplified as a linear equation with two unknown parameters. Then, modified Maxwell viscoelastic model of the cornea, whose analytical form is consistent with the generalized Prony-series model, is proposed from the perspective of material mechanics. Results: Parameters of the model are determined by the uniaxial tensile tests and the stress-relaxation tests. Corneal material properties are simulated to verify the hyper-viscoelastic model and measure the effectiveness of the model in the finite element simulation. On this basis, an in vivo model of the corneal is built. And the simulation of extrusion in vivo cornea shows that the force is roughly nonlinearly increasing with displacement, and it is consistent with the results obtained by extrusion experiment of in vivo cornea. Conlusions: This paper derives a corneal hyper-viscoelastic model to describe the material properties more accurately, and explains the mathematical method for determination of the model parameters. The model is an effective biomechanical model, which can be directly used for simulation of trephine and suture in keratoplasty. Although the corneal hyper-viscoelastic model is taken as the object of study, the method has certain adaptability in biomechanical research of ophthalmology.

A parameter study is performed of a broadband uniolanar quasi-Yagi antenna with regard to its design and use in a spatial power combiner. A 3D full-wave electromagnetic field analysis is applied to identify parameters, which mostly affect the design frequency and operational handwidth of this antenna. Optimal design conditions are determined. Using these design criteria a passive spatial power combiner employing trays of back-to-back connected quasi-Yagi antennas is developed. This combiner is investigated in terms of insertion losses and field uniformity, which are key factors in obtaining high power combining efficiency.

A novel method of immobilizing horse radish peroxidase enzyme (HRP) onto the surface of gold nanoparticles (GNPs) was developed. As a result, a high-activity bionanoconjugates was obtained through utilizing the biotin-streptavidin (SA) system. The HRP-SA-GNP bionanoconjugate with high activity was conveniently prepared through the biotin- avidin system. Compared with the HRP-GNP bioconjugate prepared through the traditional electrostatic absorption method, the enzyme activity per GNPs of this new bionanoconjugate was enhanced by 10 times. Moreover, the enzyme activity of this bionanoconjugate was controllable. The above method of bionanoconjugation preparation has promising applications In the fi elds including preparing highly active bio-nanoprobe and immobilized enzyme.

In this study, we propose to diagnose facial nerve palsy using Support Vector Machines (SVMs) and Emergent Self-Organizing Map (ESOM). This research seeks to analyze facial palsy domain using facial features and grade the degree of nerve damage based on the House-Brackmann score. Traditional diagnostic approaches involve a medical doctor recording a thorough history of a patient and determining the onset of paralysis, rate of progression and so on. The most important step is to assess the degree of voluntary movement of the facial nerves and document the grade of facial paralysis using House- Brackmann score. The significance of the work is the attempt to understand the diagnosis and grading processes using semi-supervised learning with the aim of automating the process. The value of the research is in identifying and documenting the limited literature seen in this area. The use of automated diagnosis and grading greatly reduces the duration of medical examination and increases the consistency, because many palsy images are stored to provide benchmark references for comparative purposes. The proposed automated diagnosis and grading are computationally efficient. This automated process makes it ideal for remote diagnosis and examination of facial palsy. The profiling of a large number of facial images are captured using mobile phones and digital cameras.

In this work, an environmentally friendly type plasticizer was introduced. The synthesis consisted of two steps. In the first step, castor oil (CO) was acrylated and then the acrylated castor oil (ACO) was epoxidized with the presence of formic acid and hydrogen peroxide in the second step. The epoxidized acrylated castor oil (EACO) was characterized by FTIR and  1H-NMR techniques. The EACO was used as a main plasticizer to obtain plasticized PVC materials and compared with DOP. The results showed that EACO improved polyvinyl-chloride (PVC) plasticization performance and reduced Tg from 81.06°C to 1.40°C. Plasticized PVC materials with EACO showed similar mechanical properties and better thermal stability than DOP. EACO had better volatility stabilities, migration and solvent extraction in PVC than DOP. EACO can be used to replace DOP to prepare soft films.

The BST/x-CNF (x-0, 0.05, 0.1, 0.2 wt.%) composites powder was fabricated using high energy ball milling, and subsequently consolidated the powder using spark plasma sintering. The identification of CNF in bulk composites was analyzed in Raman spectroscopy and corresponding CNF peaks were recognized. The BST matrix grain size was greatly reduced with CNF dispersion and consistently decreased along CNF percentage. The electrical conductivity was reduced and Seebeck coefficient varied in small-scale by embedding CNF. The thermal conductivity was progressively diminished, obtained lattice thermal conductivity was lowest compared to bare sample due to induced phonon scattering at interfaces of secondary phases as well as highly dense fine grain boundaries. The peak ZT of 0.95 achieved for 0.1 wt.% dispersed BST/CNF composites. The Vickers hardness value of 101.8 Hv was obtained for the BST/CNF composites.

We studied the diversity of heterotrophic flagellates from the sandy sediments of the Yangtze River, sandy and silty sediments of Donghu Lake, soil, moss and litter from the Luojiashan and Moshan hills as well as litter from the floodplain near Donghu Lake in April 2010. Sixty-seven heterotrophic flagellate species were identified by means of phase and interference contrast light microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. The majority of the observed flagellates were bacterivorous. Local species richness of river sediment communities was significantly lower than that of lake sediments and terrestrial habitats. The communities from the terrestrial habitats were more heterogeneous than those from freshwater sediments. Common species for the aquatic habitats were Rhynchomonas nasuta, Paraphysomonas sp., Neobodo designis, N. curvifilis, Bodo saltans and Spumella spp. In the soils only Spumella spp. was found in the majority of samples. Most characteristic taxa for the lake sediments were Helkesimastix faecicola, Petalomonas minuta, P. pusilla, Diphylleia rotans, Amastigomonas caudata. Amoeboflagellates such as Cercomonas angustus, C. granulifera, Paracercomonas crassicauda were specific for the terrestrial habitats. There were no specific taxa in the river sediments. The majority of the heterotrophic flagellates identified in this survey have been noted in China earlier. They are common (and usually predominant) for other regions in both freshwater and soil habitats.
