A list of 24 species of weeds was compiled on the basis of phytosocjological researches and floristic records of the biotypes of the Bug River geomorphological territories in the Podlasie region. Four hundred and twenty phytosocjological releves were carried out during the researches, in 1994-1995. The general characteristic of the arrangement of respective species localities are given. Alongside this, the state of preservation of these localities is presented. The results of the detailed analysis of the resources concern such units of classification as: Herniaria hirsuta, Herniaria glabra, Polycnemum arvense, Agrosiemma githago, Bromus secalinus, Melandrium noctiflorum.

This study compares results of observations of winter cereal cultures in the area of the Kotuń parish in two investigated periods (1979-1980 and 1989-1990). In cultures of rye, triticale and winter wheat, 124 species were recorded and investigated during the investigated period. Over 10 years the stability of occurrence and covering decreased in 34 species o f winter cultures. The species included very rare weeds, such as Agroslemma githago and Neslia paniculata, and many acid soil species, such as Scleranthus annuus, Anthemis arvensis, or Rumex acetosella. Plantago maior subsp. intermedia, Juncus hufonius and Filaginella uliginosa were species that have disappeared.

The paper presents results of a study on the occurrence and localization of 30 field weed species in middle-eastern Poland. The species are considered to be regionally and overregionally rare and most of them grow on fertile soil (rendsine, alluvial soil). They include naturally rare species or species occurring on the border of geographical ranges (Anagallis arvensis var. azurea, Aphanes arvensis, Nigella arvensis) as well as species which are close to extinction (Bromus secatinus, Digitaria sanguinalis, Lolium remotum, Sherardia arvensis, Silene noctíflora). A group of important role are also expansive species talcing possession of habitats they have never grown in before (Asperugo procumhens, Falcaría vulgaris, Lathyrus tuberosus, Vicia grandiflora). Besides the list of localities (by provinces) general characteristics of distribution of each species and abundance and dynamic tolerance of localities are given.

Middle Vistula River Valley mesoregion

Opis:
Studies on the segetal flora of the Middle Vistula River Valley mesoregion were carried out between 2003 and 2006 in cereal and potato crops and in stubble fields (117 localities). A total of 184 medicinal vascular plant species were noted in the studied agrocenoses. Native plants (68%) dominated over species brought to Poland (32%). Hemicryptophytes (83 spp.), therophytes (74 spp.) and geophytes (26 spp.) were the most numerous groups of life forms. Perennials (55%) prevailed over short-lived plants (45%). Very rare and rare species (61%) built up the most numerous group of species. Their populations usually consisted of single specimens. Only a_few of the medicinal plant species occured as larger populations. They were Aphanes arvensis, Stellaria media and Galium aparine in cereals, Equisetum arvense, Stellaria media, Chenopodium album, Elymus repens, Plantago major, Polygonum amphibium, Mentha arvensis, Plantago intermedia, Polygonum hydropiper and Gypsophila muralis in stubble fields, as well as Stellaria media in potato cultivations...

Opis:
The present state and characteristics of the segetal flora of the Mazowiecki Landscape Park and its buffer zone are described. Flora of the agrocenoses of the Park and its buffer zone is rich and includes 221 species. A _large differentiation of habitats, A wide contact zone with natural communities and traditional methods of cultivation affect its biodiversity. Rare species constitute more than half of the total species recorded in the agrocenoses of the Park and its buffer zone. In total, 25 of them are included in various categories of threat (Zarzycki, Wojewoda, Heinrich 1992). Among the most endangered are such plants, as, Helichrisum arenarium, Aphanes arvensis, Melandrium noctiflorum, Bromus secalinus, Agrostemma githago, Lathytus tuberosus, Kickxia elatine, Centunculus minimus, Hypericum humifusum, Peplis portula, Centaurium pulchellum, Radiola linoides and Myosurus minimus. Apophytes (142 species) prevail over anthropophytes (76 species) in the studied flora. Species of meadow and waterside communities (93 species) predominate among apophytes, whereas in the group of anthropophytes, archaeophytes (59 species) are the most numerous. Analysis of persistence and biological types showed domination of short-lived species over perennials and therophytes over other life forms...

Opis:
The history of the protection of the special qualities of trees is almost as old as humanity itself. The protection of trees was mainly associated with a kind of sacrum, which surrounded old and large trees. There are plenty of reasons why old trees are protected, but their popularity as tourist attractions varies widely. This study was an attempt at determin-ing the attractiveness of monumental trees as monuments and a part of the cultural landscape. The analysis was conducted on sites with monumental trees in six regions: Siedlce, Mińsk Mazowiecki, Biała Podlaska, Repki, Czeremcha, and Mrozy, as well as the towns: Siedlce, Biała Podlaska and Minsk Mazowiecki. Most of the monumental trees were found in alley systems and historical parks, formerly belonging to manors and palaces. Only a few were found in the fields. In addition to the trees of native origin were introduced species, imported specially for cultivation in gardens and parks. Among these, the most numerous were specimens of small-leaved lime. English oak was somewhat less frequent.
