Opis:
As we move into a new phase of the internet economy based on knowledge, services, and interactions - and into a new landscape of global competition - the needs and requirements of individual tenants and users within our communities are changing. As a result, real estate developers, service providers and operators must adapt their business processes, create new standards and concepts for sustainable real estate properties. In the very near future, properties will act as a foundation for stronger partnerships between tenants, supply chains, operators and the rest of the players in the value networks within the real estate business. Today's businesses are starting to adopt and evaluate new standards to improve the manageability, sustainability and communication performance of their buildings' environments in order to create new profitable business architectures. These changes will allow businesses to interact with customers in new ways - delivering unique experiences at any location, any time, with any content, on any device. Real estate developers can make this happen through new internet-based interactive communication services that deliver a total branded experience in a sustainable way throughout the living cycle of the tenants, while offering owners and operators new visibility into their building operations. A total branded experience at every touch point will have an impact inside the residential and commercial communities for all people, whether they are tenants, employees, guests, residents, or just passersby. Creating a total sustainable branded experience should be the ultimate objective for real estate developers. An advanced IP-based network, owned by the developer or outsourced, can serve as a future-ready branding platform and deliver real estate sustainability, a differentiated experience, higher valued space, and new revenues. These communication networks can offer tenants flexibility, and accelerate the development of new business value chains thereby strengthening the social and cultural links among residents, organizations, and businesses.

Opis:
Human or animal hair is considered to be a good indicator of the content of bioelements or toxic elements in human and animal organism. Its analysis is a good alternative for the arduous obtaining blood or biopsy samples. The aim of the performed research was the assessment of some chosen bioelements in the organism of European bison on the basis of their analysis in hair. The investigation material comprised hair samples obtained from 22 animals. All animals were divided into groups according to gender (males, females) and age (calves up to one year of age and animals older than 2 years). Samples were mineralized in nitric acid, under pressure in the microwave apparatus. The content of phosphorus, sulphur, magnesium, iron, titanium and vanadium were determined in hair samples. The content of these elements was determined using the ICP-AES method in accredited laboratory. The accuracy of determinations was tested using the standard reference material. The mean content of phosphorus in hair amounted to 245.14 mg · kg–1, SD 65.00, magnesium 97.32 mg · kg–1, SD 33.16, iron 119.48 mg · kg–1, SD 83.31 and titanium 2.368 mg · kg–1, SD 2.097. In case of these elements, differences depending on gender and age were statistically insignificant. Mean content of sulphur in the European bison hair amounted to 3.41% with equalized content in the herd (SD 0.22%). Here also statistically insignificant differences depending on gender were observed. However, a statistically significant difference (p ≤ 0,05) was demonstrated which depended on animal age. Mature European bisons had more sulphur in hair as compared to calves. The concentration of vanadium (0.362 mg · kg–1, SD 0.396 on the average) significantly differed in hair depending on the European bison age with much higher values in adult animals (calves 0.260 mg · kg–1, animals older than 2 years 0.686 mg · kg–1). Similar data were obtained while investigating hair of sea mammals.

Opis:
The study aimed at assessing the sodium and potassium content in chosen tissues and organs of free-ranging European bisons in Białowieża Primeval Forest depending on the gender and age of animals. In order to determine the content of elements in parenchymal tissues, ribs and hair, the ICP-OES method was used. In the hooves, sodium and potassium were determined with the help of ICP-MS. The sodium content in organs and skin appendages varied from 0.30 in hair to 4.77 mg g-1 in ribs. In the analysis of the age effect, some significant differences were observed between the investigated groups in the sodium content of the hoof wall, namely, a higher mean value was noted in young individuals. The potassium content in the examined samples was within the range of 0.96 in the hoof wall to 3.63 mg g-1 in kidneys. Significant age dependent differences were noted only in the ribs. Sodium and potassium concentrations in the hoof wall were correlated in a highly significant way. Similar dependences also appeared between the content of sodium and potassium in kidneys and liver and kidneys and muscles. On the basis of the results it can be concluded that the status of sodium and potassium supply in the European bison from Białowieża Forest is adequate.

Opis:
Rubidium is an alkaline metal with exceptional chemical activity. Together with lithium, sodium, potassium and cesium, it belongs to group I of the periodic table of elements. The aim of this study was to provide data on the rubidium content in normal mammary gland tissue and adenocarcinomas and to elucidate the effects of altered homeostasis on this element in the course of mammary gland neoplastic disease in dogs. The investigation was performed to confirm the hypothesis put forward in human research that this metal is cumulated in neoplastic tumours of the mammary gland. The research material included post mortem collected healthy mammary glands of bitches and mammary gland neoplastic tumours obtained during routine surgical treatments as well as during necropsies. The content of rubidium was determined by the inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) method. The highest rubidium content was observed in the tissues with neoplastic lesions, where it averaged 10.72 mg kg–1 wet mass. In the healthy tissues, the content of this metal was on a much lower level. The mean rubidium concentration in mammary glands without pathological changes was 1.91 m kg–1 wet mass. The statistical analysis showed a significant difference (P=0.01) in the rubidium content between the investigated groups. Higher rubidium concentrations were observed in the tissues with neoplastic lesions. This phenomenon is similar to disturbances of the ionic balance observed in the case of breast cancer in women.

Opis:
Zinc is an essential element for maintaining proper functions of animal bodies. It is a component of many hormones and enzymes and a participant in the metabolism of carbohydrates or the synthesis of nucleic acids and proteins. Animal tissues typically contain 10-200 mg of zinc kg–1. Most of this amount (98%) can be found inside the cells. Zinc toxicity is associated mainly with the secondary copper deficit. The aim of the present investigation has been to assess zinc contamination of the environment with coats of domestic and feral cats being the indicator. Urban feral cats are synantrophic animals, living in an urbanized environment and scavenging on human food waste. Thus, they can be treated as a bioindicator of the presence of certain elements in the environment. Analyses of the zinc content in cats’ hair have been performed to check whether the zinc level is connected with cats’ coat colour, living conditions and gender. The coat samples were collected from the middle abdominal region. Then they were degreased and mineralized in a microwave apparatus, in concentrated nitric acid under increased pressure. The zinc content was determined by the ICP-OES method. The mean zinc content in the investigated coat samples was 238.9 mg kg–1. The lowest zinc content was observed in white hair and the highest – in tortoiseshell hair. The results have confirmed that the content of zinc depends on the hair saturation with melanin. Statistical analysis has shown significant differences between the group of female cats living in the wild (268.09 mg kg–1) and the group of breeding female cats (214.49 mg kg–1) at p=0.05. A higher zinc content was observed in the group of older cats. The mean values did not differ from mean values of the zinc content in the coat and hair of other mammals. Considering the living conditions of the animals, the highest zinc content was noted in the group of animals living in the wild (feral ones).
