    Breaking the Gricean maxim of quantity in the Polish reprints of Russian press releases (Polish Tygodnik Forum in 2009-2011) Abstract The Grice's cooperative principle are divided into four Gricean maxims. This paper draws attention to Maxim of Quantity. Make your contribution as informative as is required (for the current purposes of the exchange) and do not make your contribution more informative than is required. Speakers are assumed to provide as much information as required for effective communication in conversation and no more. From 140 issues of Tygodnik Forum, that were collected in 2009-2011, 20 press releases were selected and analyzed. The aim of the analysis is to show the effects of breaking the Gricean Maxim of Quantity.     In the modern world, foreign languages are a tool being used in work by many young persons, and as a consequence – students are interested in the practical knowledge of a foreign language. There are not many useful tools to learn Russian on the market, and those available do not satisfy the needs, so we use different methods in the process of teaching – exercises with the elements of competition, games and its mechanics (e.g. our original project of a language game, city language game). It allows us to watch to which extent students are aware of group processes they participate in, and how those processes influence their motivation to learn a foreign language. The results of our research show that the methods we use have the impact on the social competencies of students and the effect they have on each other is linked directly with their motivation to improve their language skills. It is crucial to recognise the impact of group processes on a person, because when these processes are efficiently managed they become a useful tool in planning the strategy of teaching in order to improve students’ efficiency in obtaining their goals. However, the group influence on a single person and the facilitation are not new issues, they are still interesting and requiring new research.

    On the language game project – elements of coaching as the tool in teaching process   Foreign languages in the modern world became the tool used in work by many young people and as a consequence – students are interested in the practical knowledge of the language. As there are not many materials on the market for Russian learners and the existing ones are not sufficient to the needs, we came up with an idea to develop a unique project of a language game, with the use of the techniques that enhance the creativity, fast thinking and memory. The modern theories of learning styles relate to a reflexive learning, based on the experience. The possibility to experience by students the cases tought to them has a great influence on their motivation. The way of presenting the material is also important. We need to remember that if a student gives the importance to what he/ she does, he/ she will be much more motivated for work. Today a teacher becomes more a guide in the knowledge and an inspiration. He/ she may give the part of control into a student’s hand. The use of a specially designed board game during the Russian lessons may effectively support the development of the key language competencies and – as a result – to accelerate the achievement of the goals.   Keywords: board game, Kolb’s Cycle, flipped learning, coaching, 4MAT

    Prezentowany artykuł stanowi podsumowanie językowej gry miejskiej „Po śladach rosyjskich w Krakowie”. W grze wzięło udział 80 osób, a 41 z nich wypełniło dobrowolną ankietę z informacją zwrotną. Celem ankiety było zbadanie, na ile studenci są świadomi procesów grupowych, w których uczestniczą oraz jak te procesy wpływają na ich motywację do nauki języka obcego. Wyniki naszych badań pokazują, że wzajemne odziaływanie członków grupy na siebie ma bezpośredni związek z motywacją studentów do osiągania lepszych wyników. Świadomość wpływu procesów grupowych na jednostkę jest niezwykle istotna, ponieważ umiejętne zarządzanie tymi procesami można wykorzystać w planowaniu strategii pracy z grupami studentów w celu zwiększenia ich efektywności w osiąganiu wyznaczonych celów. Tworzenie odpowiedniej przestrzeni do uczenia się doskonale wspierają ćwiczenia wykorzystujące elementy rywalizacji, zabawy, czy mechanikę gry. Wpływ grupy na jednostkę oraz facylitacja nie są nowymi zagadnieniami, ale są to tematy aktualne i wciąż wymagające wielu badań.
