    Opis:
    The paper presents a method of automated modelling and performance evaluation of concurrent production flows carried out in Flexible Manufacturing Systems. The method allows for quick assessment of various variants of such systems, considering their structure and the organization of production flow of possible ways of their implementation. Its essence is the conditions imposed on the designed model, limiting the space of possible variants of the production flow only to deadlock-free variants. The practical usefulness of the model implemented in the proposed method illustrates the example, which describes the simultaneous assessment of alternative variants of the flexible machining module's structure and the planned multi-assortment production. The ability of the method to focus on feasible solutions offers attractive perspectives for guiding the Digital Twin-like scenario in situations caused by the need to change the production flow.

    Opis:
    Purpose: The article shows how to model audit errors using mixtures of probability distribution. Design/methodology/approach: In financial accounting, data about the economic activities of a given firm is collected and then summarized and reported in the form of financial statements. Auditing, on the other hand, is the independent verification of the fairness of these financial statements. An item in an audit sample produces two pieces of information: the book (recorded) amount and the audited (correct) amount. The difference between the two is called the error amount. The book amounts are treated as values of a random variable whose distribution is a mixture of the distributions of the correct amount and the true amount contaminated by error. The mixing coefficient is equal to the proportion of the items with non-zero errors amounts. Findings: The sum of normal and gamma distribution can be useful for modeling audit errors. Originality/value: In this paper, the method of moments is proposed to estimate mixtures of probability distribution, and we derive a formulation of the probability distribution of the sum of a normally distributed random variable and one with gamma distribution. This research could be useful in financial auditing.

    Opis:
    In the case of trigonometric functions which are utilized in the direct drives’ electronic commutation algorithms, the using of quadratic polynomial approximation allows obtaining a good approximation, and the arising differences do not adversely affect the drive operation. In order to analyze the results of approximation, the three SPWM hardware modules were implemented inside which the calculation of trigonometric functions is realized by the following algorithms: CORDIC with the accuracy of 16-bit and 12-bit, as well as the proposed quadratic polynomial. The study of the utilized algorithms impact on the drive operation was carried out on the three different positional controllers which are based on PI regulators, using pre-designed SPWM electronic commutation hardware blocks. As a hardware platform for the positional controller building, the Altera’s Cyclone IV FPGA chip and the power stage prototype based on the Power MOSFET transistors were utilized. The experiment was performed using the trajectory that tests well both static and transient with variable dynamics states. In the conclusion, the obtained differences from results were discussed as well as advantages and disadvantages of the quadratic polynomial approximation application in the electric commutation module were presented.
    W przypadku funkcji trygonometrycznych, które są wykorzystywane w algorytmach komutacji elektronicznej napędów bezpośrednich już aproksymacja wielomianem stopnia drugiego pozwala na uzyskanie dobrego przybliżenia, a powstałe różnice nie muszą w niekorzystny sposób wpływać na pracę napędu. W celu przeanalizowania rezultatów aproksymacji, zaimplementowano trzy moduły sprzętowe SPWM, w których do obliczania wartości funkcji trygonometrycznych wykorzystano następujące algorytmy: CORDIC z dokładnością 16-bitową i 12-bitową oraz proponowaną aproksymację wielomianem kwadratowym. Badanie wpływu zastosowanych algorytmów na pracę silnika przeprowadzono na trzech wersjach sterownika pozycyjnego, bazujących na regulatorze typu PI, wykorzystujących wcześniej zaprojektowane bloki sprzętowe elektronicznej komutacji SPWM. Jako platformę sprzętową do budowy sterownika pozycyjnego wykorzystano układ FPGA Cyclone IV firmy Altera oraz prototyp stopnia mocy oparty na tranzystorach typu Power MOSFET. Eksperyment przeprowadzono wykorzystując trajektorię, która dobrze testuje zarówno stany statyczne jak i przejściowe o zmiennej dynamice. W podsumowaniu omówiono otrzymane różnice w rezultatach oraz przedstawiono zalety i wady zastosowania aproksymacji wielomianem kwadratowym w module elektronicznej komutacji.

    Finite mixtures of probability distributions may be successfully used in the modeling of probability distributions of losses. These distributions are typically heavy tailed and positively skewed. Finding the distribution that fits loss data well is often difficult. The paper shows that the use of mixed models can significantly improve the goodness-of-fit of the loss data. The paper also presents an algorithm to find estimates of parameters of mixture distribution and gives an illustrative example. The analytical approach is probably the most often used in practice and certainly the most frequently adopted in the actuarial literature. It is reduced to finding a suitable analytical expression which fits the observed data well. For parameters estimation we use the maximum likelihood method applying the Newton-Raphson and EM algorithm. Computations of goodness-of-fit can be judged using the Akaike information criterion.

    Opis:
    W artykule rozważano problem estymacji parametrów bi‑prostych, które z geometrycznego punktu widzenia są dwiema przecinającymi się prostymi. Za pomocą tzw. metody najmniejszych kwadratów dla zależności niejawnych wyznaczono przybliżone wartości estymatorów parametrów bi‑prostych. W szczególnym przypadku wyznaczono dokładne wzory na estymatory parametrów, dowodząc ich łącznej asymptotycznej normalności rozkładu prawdopodobieństwa. Ponadto analizowano związki między bi‑prostymi oraz liniowymi regresjami rozkładów prawdopodobieństwa, które są składowymi mieszanki dwuwymiarowych rozkładów prawdopodobieństw. W wyniku symulacyjnych eksperymentów wykazano, że brane pod uwagę zgodne estymatory parametrów bi‑prostych dają jednak obciążone estymatory parametrów regresji rozkładów będących składowymi mieszanki dwuwymiarowych rozkładów prawdopodobieństwa.
    Two non‑parallel lines will be named as bi‑lines. The relationship between the definition of the bi‑lines function and linear regression functions of the distribution mixture is considered. The bi‑lines function parameters are estimated using the least squares method for an implicit interdependence. In general, values of parameter estimators are evaluated by means of an approximation numerical method. In a particular case, the exact expressions for the parameter estimators were derived. In this particular case, the properties of the estimators are examined in details. The bi‑lines are also used to estimate the regression functions of the distribution mixture. The accuracy of the parameter estimation is analyzed.

    We use two methods of estimation parameters in a mixture regression: maximum likelihood (MLE) and the least squares method for an implicit interdependence. The most popular method for maximum likelihood esti-mation of the parameter vector is the EM algorithm. The least squares method for an implicit interdependence is based solving systems of nonlinear equations. Most frequently used method in the estimation of parameters mixtures regression is the method of maximum likelihood. The article presents the possibility of using a different the least squares method for an implicit interdependence and compare it with the maximum likelihood method. We compare accuracy of two methods of estimation by simulation using bias: root mean square error and bootstrapping standard errors of estimation.
    Do estymacji parametrów mieszanek regresji stosujemy dwie metody: metodę największej wiarygodności oraz metodę najmniejszych kwadratów dla zależności niejawnych. Najbardziej popularną metodą polegającą na maksymalizacji funkcji wiarygodności jest algorytm EM. Metoda najmniejszych kwadratów dla zależności niejawnych polega na rozwiązaniu układu równań nieliniowych. Najczęściej stosowaną metodą estymacji parametrów mieszanek regresji jest metoda największej wiarygodności. W artykule pokazano możliwość zastosowania innej metody najmniejszych kwadratów dla zależności niejawnych. Obie metody porównujemy symulacyjnie, używając obciążenia estymatora, pierwiastka błędu średniokwadratowego estymatora oraz bootstrapowe błędy standardowe.

    Finite mixtures of probability distributions may be successfully used in the modeling of probability distributions of incomes. These distributions are typically heavy tailed and positively skewed. This article deals with the problem of determining the number of components in mixture modeling. This paper considers the likelihood of ratio-based testing of the null hypothesis of homogeneity in mixture models. The number of components is an important parameter in the applications of finite mixture models.
