Opis:
Currently, in urban areas, there are a lot of services related to the new mobility concept. The development of such services brings many benefits, from supplementing the transport of fer of a given city to environmental and economic aspects. However, it is worth remembering that these services are dedicated to the society and it is the target group of recipients of all the adwantages of shared mobility. Due to this, the authors proposed the possibility of considering shared mobility services as a solution supporting the overcoming of barriers in access to transport services and a preventive measure of social exclusion. The work includes aspects of improving transport accessibility, possibilities of adjusting services to the needs of the society, safety of services and reduction of the phenomenon of social exclusion. The work is support for the popularization of shared mobility services and public education.

Opis:
Background: The article provides a discussion on freight transport planning. The existing solutions applied in this sphere have been compared with the environment-related needs. The concept which has been proposed involves a dedicated travel planner that takes some additional non-standard criteria into consideration. At the same time, the authors have highlighted the necessity to expand the algorithms being applied, and to address the comprehensive nature of the problem. However, it is the first and last mile section of supply chains on which the article focuses. The planner described in the paper is being developed as a part of an integrated platform implemented under the international S-mile project. Research methodology: The solutions proposed for transport planning purposes include application of ICT. A review of the available solutions has made it possible to indicate one of the planners currently in use as the foundation upon which a more advanced freight transport planning tool dedicated to the first/last mile section can be built. The planner requires application of several optimisation algorithms, including those which consider route parameters, the selection of fleet vehicles available for the given task, cargo distribution over the vehicle etc. The article defines both primary and secondary criteria that such a planner should take into account, including the environmental ones. What the authors have also highlighted is the possibility to make use of open data sources. The approach they have proposed makes it possible to raise the level of environmental awareness at the first and the last mile management stage, and since multiple transport aspects have been addressed, it also increases planning efficiency. Goals: The purpose of the article has been to discuss an eco-friendly solution which may limit the negative environmental impact of transport. Conclusions: The solution described in the paper may change the manner in which freight transport is managed in cities. Taking environmental criteria into consideration makes it possible to reduce the negative environmental impact of transport. Planning of freight transport requires that far more criteria should be taken into account compared to route planning for the travelling population. A comprehensive fleet management platform featuring a planning module combined with other modules of the S-mileSys system being currently developed is also aimed at integration of large freight companies with the carriers that service first and last miles.

Opis:
The implementation of the sustainable transport policy in cities aims at finding various solutions that support the use of ‘clean energy’ in urban logistics. One of current global sustainable transport trends involves various measures related to electromobility. An example of electromobility in urban logistics is the e-car-sharing, or a short-term electric car rental. Since electric car-sharing is rather new to the transport market, operators and cities and metropolises may face various difficulties while implementing such services. Based on still operating and discontinued e-car-sharing systems, the authors analysed strengths and weaknesses of those systems with the focus on implementation and maintenance issues. The goal of the article is to determine strengths and challenges for e-car-sharing in urban logistics. The article is designed to assist stakeholders interested in the implementation of e-car-sharing. The analysis was provided under the international research project of ‘Electric travelling platform to support the implementation of electromobility in Smart Cities based on ICT applications’ funded from the National Research and Development Centre as a part of the ERA-NET CoFund Electric Mobility Europe Programme.

Opis:
The main aim of the research was to diagnose drivers' behavior in urban road traffic. It was preceded by careful observation and testing of drivers' behavior in terms of the violations assumed to be observed. It was taken into account, inter alia, aspects such as failure to comply with road signs and signals, behavior at the rail-road crossing, or offenses occurring in the pedestrian-driver relationship. During the observations, the assumption was to capture negative behaviors of drivers, but each time attention was also paid to positive behaviors related to road culture. The analysis of the results allowed the researchers to identify the most common mistakes made by drivers. This can help not only to better enforce regulations at selected measurement sites but also lead to improved education about these specific violations.

Opis:
The existing space distribution of hotel and service facilities in different places in the world is mainly the result of natural organic growth. Such facilities were built in areas of actual and/or potential demand, provided adequate financial resources and land were available. Additionally, an important factor was also the availability of technical infrastructure, including, in particular, transport. Sometimes those facilities were built without any detailed spatial analysis of their locations. It can be concluded that planning of hotel and service facilities lacked clear and accurate methods as well as analytic tools. The main reason was the lack of relevant databases. Along the development of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), information tools started to be used in nearly every area. It should be noted that the development of the hotel and service base can be significantly promoted while using modern ICT solutions. In their article, the authors, among others, propose to use trip planning tools backed by Big Data. A trip planner can be used to collect data that help to determine the location of hotel and service facilities (e.g. hotels, guest houses, motels, leisure, recreation and restaurant facilities). The article presents the case study from the Upper Silesia conurbation, Poland. The use of Big Data allows to select locations of investment corresponding to actual tourist travel needs, especially that every year tourism becomes an increasingly important sector of the national economy in many countries.

Opis:
Because of the need of introducing ecologically clean transport technologies, activities bound up with using electric propulsion in motor vehicles operating in public transport are undertaken. Technical and operational possibilities of introducing electric–powered buses to the communal public transport are shown in the article. The operation of that kind of fleet requires appropriate technical infrastructure involving charging electric-powered urban transport. Simultaneously, former experiences show strong mutual connection between technical sphere and organizational system of communal public transport in agglomerations. Hence, essential significance among other things is given to the layout of the functioning bus lines network and the organisation of bus operations on the lines (timetable). The models of the technical, organizational, economical and ecological links enabling optimal choice of type of bus propulsion were worked out, with the aim of solving this problem rationally.

ObjectivesThe disease caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), termed COVID-19, is asymptomatic or mild in most cases. These patients do not need treatment in hospital and can be isolated at home. To date, most studies have been conducted among inpatients with severe COVID-19. In this study, the authors surveyed patients with mild COVID-19 who remained in home isolation, and analyzed the sources and occupational risk factors for SARS-CoV-2 infections.Material and MethodsThis cross-sectional study was carried out on April 17–18, 2020, among patients infected with SARS-CoV-2 who remained in home isolation in Poland. Data were acquired through a structured interview that included questions about the isolation course, symptoms, comorbidities, infection source, household characteristics, occupation, and workplace. Data were presented with descriptive statistics.ResultsOf the 4878 patients in home isolation, the authors were able to contact 3313. Of them, 1191 patients declined their invitation, and 2122 agreed to take part. The median age of the patients included in the study was 50 years; 59% were female. Most patients (92%) had not been abroad before the infection. More than half (55%) knew how they became infected; of them, 75% became infected at work. Of all patients, 70% were occupationally active. Nearly half of the occupationally active patients (48%) worked in healthcare, 3% worked in public administration or defense, 3% worked in transportation, and 2% worked in education. Sixty-five percent of the occupationally active patients worked in companies with >100 employees.ConclusionsMost of the patients with COVID-19 in home isolation in Poland were occupationally active, wherein the majority of people who were aware of the source of SARS-CoV-2 infection worked in healthcare. As most of the infected patients worked in companies with >100 employees, which is not a Polish employment pattern, the authors expect that smaller companies may have a lower risk of SARS-CoV-2 infections.
