Opis:
In Serbia alarmingly few Roma children go to school, and they perform far worse compared to their non-Roma peers. In this paper, effects of laboratory experiments on acquiring knowledge in Roma children were investigated. Pedagogical experiment with parallel groups was conducted with third-grade elementary Roma and non-Roma students. Both control and experimental groups attended lectures on topics related to environmental protection, and the experimental group also conducted laboratory experiments. After final testing, the experimental subgroup of Roma students exhibited better progress. Results indicate that engaging in students’ laboratory experiments is an adequate strategy of teaching Roma school children, and the raised interest in school subjects through practical work is a guarantee of their completing primary education.

Opis:
The aim of the research was developed in need to determine the level of environmental content (Environmental protection issues) in the didactic material of primary and secondary schools in the Republic of Serbia, as an important factor of the development of students’ environmental awareness. Mixed content analysis was used for the purpose of this study. This analysis included techniques for data collection. All textbooks and workbooks for primary and secondary school were used. The research showed that there is no equal distribution of questions about environmental protection within curricula and programs by classes and levels of education. Basically, didactic material includes about 5.4% of the content related to protection and preservation of the environment, which can influence the development of students’ environmental awareness.

Opis:
This paper presents research that has been carried out to analyze a relation between implementation of simple experiments in teaching sciences, and pupils’ positive attitude towards learning physics. Investigation was conducted on a random sample of 495 sixth – and seventh-grade pupils from primary schools in Novi Sad. The obtained results are statistically treated. Analysis of results shows that the use of simple experiments for a particular case is related to pupils’ attitude toward learning physics. Also, it is shown that approximately twice higher percentage of pupils that were taught with the use of hands-on experiments like to learn science than pupils who were taught with the use of demonstration experiments or without experiments. They do not learn by heart, they understand science and it helps them to develop a scientific world view that makes it easier for them to find their way in today’s world.
