Opis:
Damage detection based on structural dynamic characteristics, such as natural frequencies and mode shapes, is an important area of research. Obtaining accurate structural dynamic characteristics is perhaps the most challenging aspect. In particular, changes in environmental temperature due to seasonal weather or radiation from sunshine leads to changes in the dynamic characteristics of structures. An important conclusion is that changes in the dynamic characteristics of a structure due to damage may be smaller than changes in the dynamic characteristics due to variations in temperature. Also, damage can affect the frequency response. This is the first study of evaluation of the effect of changes in temperature and multiple damages on natural frequency at the same time. In this paper, the simultaneous effect of the multiple defects and temperature on the natural frequencies of 6063 aluminum alloy beam are assessed numerically. ABAQUS finite element software is used for the numerical analysis. The present paper aims to evaluate the temperature effect and multiple damages on vibration responses. The variations in the frequency have been analysed in simulation by using an aluminum specimen and obtaining impedance signatures at temperatures ranging from −200◦C to 204◦C. The results show that an increase in temperature leads to a decrease in structural frequency, and that a decrease in temperature leads to an increase in structural frequency. The evaluation of the effect of multiple defects on natural frequency shows that when damages are created in the structure, there is a significant decrease in the natural frequency responses of the 6063 aluminum alloy beam. The results show that damage causes a decrease in the natural frequency of the structure. This study highlights the importance of applying simulation methods to the evaluation of the effect of changes in environmental temperature and multiple damages on the dynamic characteristics such as natural frequencies and mode shapes, especially at the same time.

Opis:
This study was performed to depict the anatomical changes in apical meristems in order to determine the flower initiation and development of Iranian lily (Lilium ledebourii). Observations carried out by scanning electron microscope (SEM) on groups of bulbs with different age and size showed that only large (≥55 g and ≥6 cm in diameter) 9-year-old and older bulbs expressed flowering transition, abandoning the juvenile condition. The switch from vegetative to reproductive in the apical meristem was characterized by flattening its dome. Flower initiation started between 10 and 20 days after planting, once the bulbs have passed a period of vernalization of two months at 3°C. The first hint of floral organ definition was noted 30 to 50 days after planting when the outer perianths started to grow followed by inner perianths in a pattern of 3−3. After complementation of flower formation by stamen and pistil appearance and development, flower abortion occurred in some bulbs 30 days after flower initiation. Flower bud abortion could not be linked to the bulb size. Identification of the exact time of flower initiation will be useful to provide proper management of Iranian lily in the process of domestication of this endemic endangered lily.

Opis:
Celem badania było opracowanie układu o działaniu przeciwbakteryjnym. Aby go zrealizować przygotowano metodą współstrącania biokompatybilny nanokompozyt: superparamegnetyczne nanocząstki tlenku żelaza – chitozan. Właściwości morfologiczne i magnetyczne nanokompozytu badano różnymi metodami. W temperaturze pokojowej próbki wykazują właściwości superparamagnetyczne o nasyceniu magnetycznym cząstek opłaszczonych wynoszącym 65 emu/g. W celu sprawdzenia skuteczności hamowania rozwoju ludzkich patogenów uzyskany nanokompozyt poddano testowi antybakteryjnemu. Zsyntezowane koloidy i cienkie warstwy wykazują, w porównaniu do superparamagnetycznych nanocząstek tlenku żelaza, znacznie silniejsze działanie przeciwbakteryjne w stosunku do bakterii Gramujemnych Pseudomonas aeruginosa i Escherichia coli.
The goal of this study was to develop an antibacterial activity system. To this end, we prepared using co-precipitation method a biocompatible nanocomposite: superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles – chitosan. The morphological and magnetic properties of the nanocomposite were characterized by different techniques. At room temperature, the samples exhibit superparamagnetic behavior with the saturation magnetization of 65emu/g for coated nanoparticles. For checking its efficiency in inhibition of human pathogen, the yielded nanocomposite was used in antibacterial assay. The synthesized colloids and thin films have potent and completely strong antibacterial activity toward gram-negative bacteria Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Escherichia coli in comparison with superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles which have less strong antibacterial activity. The concentration of Fe3O4 leading to a complete inhibition of bacteria growth was revealed at as low as at 40 μ g.ml-1 for Pseudomonas aeruginosa and 45 μ g.ml-1 for Escherichia coli. Thus superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles – chitosan biocompatible nanocomposite could be suitable for antimicrobial applications and medical devices.

Opis:
In this article we investigated structural, electronic, elastic, and optical properties of TlN in three phases, using full potential linear augmented plane wave method in the density functional theory frame with WIEN2k code. The calculations have been done in the generalized Perdew-Burke-Ernzerhof generalized gradient approximation, the generalized Wu-Cohen gradient approximation, the generalized Perdew-Burke-Ernzerhof solid gradient approximation, local density approximation, and the modified Becke-Johnson approximations. In spite of the absence of any experimental data for TlN, our results are compared with other results achieved by other different approximations which shows a good agreement with them. The band gap for TlN in wurtzite and zinc-blende are obtained to be 0.07 and 0.09 eV within modified Becke-Johnson-local density approximation+spin-orbit approximation, respectively. The structural properties such as phase transitions, equilibrium lattice parameters, bulk modulus and its first pressure derivative were obtained using an optimization method. Moreover, we calculated quantities such as elastic constants, the Young modulus, shear modulus, the Poisson ratio, and sound velocities for longitudinal and transverse waves, the Debye temperature and the Kleinman parameters in different approximations and we show that TlN is softer than other nitrides of the III-group. The static calculations predicted that wurtzite to rock salt and zinc-blende to rock salt phase transitions occur at 14.7 GPa and 15.8, respectively. The optical properties of TlN in three phases, calculated in generalized gradient approximation and local density approximation and imaginary part of dielectric function show that TlN in wurtzite and zinc-blende phases have semiconductor properties but rock salt phase do not show. As well as, we investigate the influence of the hydrostatic pressure on the elastic parameters and energy band structures for TlN (zinc-blende) within local density approximation.

Opis:
This study aims to leach copper from chalcopyrite and optimizing the leaching process, using the response surface methodology (RSM). The RSM, a D-optimal design with four factors in three levels was employed to evaluate the effect of particle size, temperature, silver-coated pyrite to chalcopyrite ratio and redox potential parameters on the copper extraction efficiency. A quadratic model was then proposed by the RSM to correlate leaching variables. The tests results indicated that the model was significant with the experimental data at a correlation coefficient (R2) of 0.96. The most important parameters of copper extraction efficiency were particle size and silver-coated pyrite-to-chalcopyrite ratio, and also the squared term of particle size (A2), temperature (B2) and redox potential (D2). In addition, the interaction between redox potential and silver-coated pyrite-to-chalcopyrite ratio (CD) was significant. It was shown that the finer the particle size the faster the leaching rate of copper. It was also indicated that by increasing silver-coated pyrite to chalcopyrite ratio of 6:1 copper recovery increased. The maximum recovery of copper (71%) was obtained for the particle size of -38 μm, 70 °C, 420 mV of redox potential, silver-coated pyrite-to-chalcopyrite ratio of 6 and leaching time of 8 hours.

Opis:
In the present work, a numerical study on the free-convective heat transfer in a porous media cavity with a wavy boundary was carried out. The validation was done by comparing the results with the experimental data. The cavity inclination angle, material of nanofluid, nanoparticles volume fraction, the Rayleigh number, and porosity of the medium are the parameters which are investigated in this study. Results suggested that, due to the thermophysical properties of Cu particles in water, the heat transfer rate was increased for Cu-Water nanofluid in comparison to Al2O3-Water nanofluid, while the heat transfer rate decreased by increasing the volume fraction of nanoparticles. Numerical results showed that the Rayleigh number has significant effect on the heat transfer rate so that increase in the Rayleigh number from 100 to 10 000 increased the averaged Nusselt number between 2 to 3 times. The effect of porosity on heat transfer proved that the convective heat transfer rate increased with increasing the porosity of the porous medium. The effect of inclination angle of cavity on the heat transfer rate suggested that the optimum angle of cavity causing the highest heat transfer rate from wavy wall is 45°.
