Opis:
The notions of permutable and globally permutable lattices were first introduced and studied by J. Krempa and B. Terlikowska-Osłowska [4]. These are lattices preserving many interesting properties of modular lattices. In this paper all finite groups with globally permutable lattices of subgroups are described. It is shown that such finite p-groups are exactly the p-groups with modular lattices of subgroups, and that the non-nilpotent groups form an essentially larger class though they have a description very similar to that of non-nilpotent modular groups.

Opis:
The aim of research was the elaboration of the synthesis of new organic monomer applicable in gelcasting. The substance named 3,4-di-acryloyl-D-mannitol which contains two acryloyl groups and four hydroxyl groups in its molecule has been synthesized. The monomer has been then applied in the preparation of Al2O3-ZrO2 composites by gelcasting and subsequent sintering. Rheological properties of ceramic suspensions have been examined, as well as the properties of green and sintered bodies. SEM observations allowed to determine the distribution of zirconia grains in alumina matrix. Density, Vickers hardness and fracture toughness of ZTA composites have been measured. The new monomer, that is diacryloyl derivative of mannitol, is less sensitive to the oxygen inhibition than commonly used in gelcasting and commercially available 2-hydroxyethyl acrylate.

Opis:
The number of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) patients is rapidly increasing. To date, there may be half a million Alzheimer’s patients in Poland. World Health Organization forecasts that the total number of patients with dementia will amount to 75.6 million in 2030 and increase to 135.5 million by 2050. Modern care includes health strengthening activities, disease prevention, shaping the ability to live with the disease or disability, and assisting in dignified and peaceful death. This paper aims to present a model method for nursing of an Alzheimer’s patient, taking into account external and internal factors. Problems with everyday activities arise in each stage of the disease. Yet, their largest number is observed in the third and final stage. A nurse providing professional help and support to caregivers of patients with AD formulates nursing and caring instructions accommodated to the disease stage. According to the authors, the adjustment of individual care to the specific stage of the disease improves the patient’s quality of life. The synthesis of nursing activities performed for Alzheimer’s patients should be focused on the cooperation between the nurse and the patient’s caregiver. The patient’s family and caregivers’ education should be emphasized as their awareness and knowledge of the disease will result in better care. Caregivers’ insufficiency of expertise concerning the appropriate care may deepen the patient’s illness and intensify its consequences. Patients with advanced AD need constant, day-and-night care. Creating such conditions is often connected with sacrificing one’s personal life. Therefore, apart from imparting the knowledge concerning the right care, a nurse provides mental support to Alzheimer’s patients’ caregivers.

The Advanced Telecommunications Computing Architecture (ATCA) standard describes a powerful and efficient platform. With multiple integrated solutions like redundancies and intelligent control mechanisms this technology is characterized with reliability estimated at the level of 99.99999 percent. These features make the standard perfect for use in projects like the Free Electron Laser in Hamburg (FLASH) and the X-ray Free Electron Laser (X-FEL) in order to help them meet the requirements of high availability and reliability. The ATCA standard incorporates advanced control systems defined in the Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) specification as one of the key elements. The entire ATCA implementation retains its functionality as long as the IPMI remains operational. The complexity level of the application increases, which results in preparing it to run and debugging being more difficult to perform. At the same time, only scrupulous elimination of any kind of possible deficiencies can enable the ATCA implementation to offer the desired level of reliability. Thus, diagnostics become crucial, which creates a need for additional tools performing these tasks during the preparations of both hardware and software for the ATCA application. The paper presents application aiding in development of the prototype Carrier Board by enabling the user of external PC station to perform diagnostic and control activities over the Board. It helps in examining all its components at the stage of running the Board, as well as in further operation analysis.

The paper presents the investigation of gyroscopic sensor noise properties used in the construction of body position detection device for posturographic testing. The first part shows the sources of noise in gyro sensors and their measurement methods. In the second part of the paper, the authors describe their own research on the efficiency of the calculation of the Allan variance (one of the popular noise evaluation methods) and the wrong concept of calculations acceleration. The article concludes with an explanation of the reasons for the lack of theoretical research and the results of practical measurements of the sensors used in the project.

Opis:
Future RF Control systems will require simultaneous data acquisition of up to 100 fast ADC channels at sampling rates of around 100 MHz and real time signal processing within a few hundred nanoseconds. At the same time the standardization of Low-Level RF systems are common objectives for all laboratories for cost reduction, performance optimization and machine reliability. Also desirable are modularity and scalability of the design as well as compatibility with accelerator instrumentation needs including the control system. All these requirements can be fulfilled with the new telecommunication standard ATCA when adopted to the domain of instrumentation. We describe the architecture and design of an ATCA based LLRF system for the European XFEL. Initial results of the demonstration of such a system at the FLASH user facility will be presented. Presented are the results of operating essential components of a prototype during the machine studies in January and March 2009.

Opis:
GaAs/AlGaAs and GaN/AlGaN high electron mobility transistors were used as detectors of THz electromagnetic radiation at liquid helium temperatures. Application of high magnetic fields led to the Shubnikov-de Haas oscillations of the detection signal. Measurements carried out with a simultaneous modulation of the intensity of the incident THz beam and the transistor gate voltage showed that the detection signal is determined by the electron plasma both in the gated and ungated parts of the transistor channel. This result is of importance for understanding the physical mechanism of the detection in high electron mobility transistors and for development of a proper theoretical description of this process.
