Opis:: Changes in swan goose (Anser cygnoides) hatchability due to application of a tridimensional silicon layer on eggshells and vertical egg setting during incubation. Goose egg incubation technology differs from the procedure used for chickens: eggs are washed before putting into an incubator and set horizontally due to their big size. However, the effects of the washing procedure and egg arrangement in the context of the hatchability and quality of goslings has not yet been extensively researched. The current study revealed that positioning eggs vertically facilitated hatching, and application of a silicon layer reduced hatching time. The results indicate that covering swan goose (Anser cygnoides) eggshells with a tridimensional silicon layer before incubation of wet-cleaned eggs can improve hatchability.

Opis:: The puprose of this study was to evaluate retention force of conical double crowns in two material connections: gold casting alloy/gold casting alloy and gold casting alloy/gold electroforming alloy. 12 crown pairs of both material connections with the cone angles of 2°, 4° and 6° were made. Experiment of 10.000 in-and-out cycles was performed using a new device which allows the retentive force to be measured in continuous way without necessity of moving the samples to another device. It has been found that the higher the retentive force values, the lower the cone angle. Dispersion of the retention value was similar in both groups, but when cone angle was 2° or 4°, stability of retention force with the passage of time was higher in combinations with electroformed copings. The optimum solution was the cast alloy/cast alloy connection but only with cone angle 6°. However, retentive values seem to be too low to achieve proper retention of dentures.

Opis:: This publication aims at presenting a method for obtaining vegetable oil with different viscosity classes. The subject of the research focused the on oxidation of rapeseed oil and the determination of the proprieties of this reaction. The most advantageous results have been achieved when the process was held at a temperature of 150oC. Physical and chemical properties of the base oil and obtained oils with different viscosity classes have been determined.
W artykule przedstawiono metodę otrzymania oleju roślinnego o różnych klasach lepkościowych. Przedmiotem badań była reakcja utleniania oleju rzepakowego oraz określenie warunków jej przebiegu. Najkorzystniejsze rezultaty uzyskano dla prowadzenia procesu utleniania w temperaturze 150oC. Oceniono właściwości fizykochemiczne oleju bazowego oraz uzyskanych olejów o różnych lepkościach.

Opis:: Niniejszy opis przedstawia własną koncepcję wózka inwalidzkiego dla psa po amputacji kończyny przedniej. Zasadniczym celem było zaprojektowanie konstrukcji, która swoją funkcjonalnością wyróżniałaby się spośród innych, dostępnych na rynku rozwiązań. Zostało to uzyskane m.in. przez zastosowanie elementów podatnych, które umożliwiają łatwiejsze poruszanie się zwierzęcia, np. w warunkach miejskich w przypadku konieczności pokonywania niewielkich progów. Zaprojektowany wózek inwalidzki został wykonany, a następnie przekazany na potrzeby psa.
The article presents the project of a wheelchair for the dog after front-limb amputation. The main goal was to create a new solution that would distinguish oneself among others constructions that are available on market. It was possible thanks to the use of shock-absorbers that allow easier animal’s motion e.g. in city conditions in case of overcomming slight thresholds. The designed construction was made and forwarded to the necessitous dog.

Opis:: Heightened tonic stretch reflex contributes to increased muscle tone and a more-flexed resting elbow joint angle (EJA) in patients with Parkinson’s disease (PD). Dopaminergic medication restores central nervous system (CNS) functioning and decreases resting muscle electrical and mechanical activities. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of dopaminergic medication on parkinsonian rigidity, resting EJA, resting electrical activity (electromyography, EMG) and mechanical properties (myotonometry, MYO) of elbow flexor muscles and the associations of EJA with these muscles resting electrical activity and mechanical properties in PD patients. We also evaluated a relationship between dopaminergic treatment dose and these outcome measures values. Methods: Ten PD patients (age 68 ± 10.1 years; body mass 70 ± 16.8 kg; height 162 ± 6.6 cm; illness duration 9 ± 4.5 years) were tested during medication on- and off-phases. Resting EJA, myotonometric muscle stiffness (S-MYO) and root mean square electromyogram amplitude (RMS-EMG) were recorded from relaxed biceps brachii and brachioradialis muscles. Based on the above parameters, we also calculated the EJA/S-MYO ratio and EJA/RMS-EMG ratio. Parkinsonian rigidity was assessed using the motor section of the Unified Parkinson’s Disease Rating Scale. Results: EJA, EJA/S-MYO ratio, and EJA/RMS-EMG ratio were increased and S-MYO, RMS-EMG, and parkinsonian rigidity were decreased during the medication on-phase compared with the off-phase. In addition, the dopaminergic treatment dose was negatively correlated with S-MYO and RMS-EMG, and positively correlated with EJA/SMYO and EJA/RMS-EMG ratios. Conclusions: We conclude that dopaminergic medication-induced improvements in resting elbow joint angle in tested patients with PD are related to changes in their muscle electrical and mechanical properties.
