Opis:
This research was conducted to evaluate the effects of water salinity and nano-silica (NS) and humic acid (HA) on Bermuda grass. The study was carried out under greenhouse and exterior space conditions in a completely randomized design with factorial arrangements. Treatments included 4 water salinity levels (0, 5, 7 and 9 dS/m) and 4 level of NS (0, 1, 2 and 3 mm/l) as well as 4 level of HA (0, 50, 100 and 150 mg/l). Results indicated a decrease in chlorophyll content, and increase in proline, malondialdehyde (MDA), catalase (CAT), superoxide dismutase (SOD) and electrolyte leakage (EL) with increasing levels of salinity. The chlorophyll content in greenhouse and exterior space also increased with increasing levels of NS and HA, while proline in two environments, with increasing levels of NS and HA decreased. EL with increasing levels of NS fluctuated, but with increasing levels of HA, it decreased in two environments. With increasing levels of NS, CAT in both environments was eventually decreased after the oscillation, but there was no particular trend in HA levels. With increasing levels of NS and HA, MDA in the greenhouse decreased and in the exterior space – it increased. Finally, by increasing levels of NS and HA, SOD did not show any change in the greenhouse condition, but in the exterior space, the SOD was decreased.

Opis:
Two new cyclopentadienyl piperidine derivatives, namely ferrocene carboxylic acid 1-ethyl-3-hydroxypiperidinyl ester and ferrocene carboxylic acid 4-hydroxypiperidinyl ester, were synthesized. The ligands were then radiolabelled with 99mTc using two different approaches. The first method consisted of reacting the ligand precursor with Mn(CO)5Br in pertechnetate 99mTcO4 - in normal saline and dimethyl formamide (DMF) at 150°C for 1 h. The yields were 70% and 90%, respectively. For the second method, the reactions mixtures were placed in a microwave oven for 2 min at 650 watt. The yields were higher than 90% for both 99mTc complexes. Biodistribution studies showed that tricarbonyl{eta5- [carboxy-3-hydroxy(N-ethyl)piperidine]cyclopentadienyl}technetium(I) had the highest brain uptake. The regional distribution in the brain also demonstrated relatively higher uptake of tricarbonyl{eta5-[carboxy-3-hydroxy(N-ethyl) piperidine]cyclopentadienyl}technetium(I) in the colliculus (1.97% ID/g tissue,) with the colliculus to cerebellum ratio of 1.99. We conclude that the radiolabelling can be achieved by microwave activation, and tricarbonyl{eta5-[carboxy-3- hydroxy(N-ethyl)piperidine]cyclopentadienyl}technetium(I) has the potential for use as central nervous system (CNS) imaging agent.

Opis:
A NEW MODELING OF THE CHARACTERISTICS OF GaAs MESFET'S: A new approach for I-V standard model is proposed. This approach allowed to conceive applicable model for MESFET's operating in the turn-one or pinch-off region, and valid for the short-channel and the long-channel MESFET's, in which the two-dimensional potential distribution contributed by the depletion layer under the gate is obtained by conventional 1D approximation. The drain current is decomposed into two components; the first is due to the conduction current flowing through the conduction channel, and the second component is a result of the current flowing through the space charge region resulting from the injection of the channel electrons into this last region. Moreover, comparison between the proposed analytical model and the experimental data are made and good agreement is obtained. In the end, this model is applied to estimate the cut-off frequency of the MESFET-GaAs from these static characteristics. This estimation is based on the theoretical calculation of the transconductance and the gate capacitance of the device.

Opis:
Despite the reputation earned by aromatic and medicinal plants of Algeria, the chemical constituents of Eucalyptus globulus essential oil (EGEO) of Blida origin has not previously been investigated. Thus, the present study has been conducted for the determination of chemical constituents and different physico-chemical properties of the EGEO. Chemical composition of the EGEO, grown in Algeria, was analysed by Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry. The chemical components were identified on the basis of Retention Time and comparing with mass spectral database of standard compounds. Relative amounts of detected compounds were calculated on the basis of GC peak areas. Fresh leaves of E. globulus on steam distillation yielded 0.96 % (v/w) of essential oil whereas the analysis resulted in the identification of a total of 11 constituents, 1.8 cineole (85.8 %), α-pinene (7.2 %), and β-myrcene (1.5 %) being the main components. Other notable compounds identified in the oil were β-pinene, limonene, α-phellandrene, γ-terpinene, linalool, pinocarveol, terpinen-4-ol, and α-terpineol. The physical properties such as specific gravity, refractive index and optical rotation and the chemical properties such as saponification value, acid number and iodine number of the EGEO were examined. The oil extracted has been analyzed to have 1.4602 - 1.4623 refractive index value, 0.918 - 0.919 specific gravity (sp.gr.), +9 - +10 optical rotation that satisfy the standards stipulated by European Pharmacopeia. All the physical and chemical parameters were in the range indicated by the ISO standards. Our findings will help to access the quality of the Eucalyptus oil which is important in the production of high value essential oils that will help to improve the economic condition of the community as well as the nation.
