Opis:
Actin-1 is a ubiquitous protein belonging to the reproductive class of Actin family in Arabidopsis thaliana . This protein is involved in the formation of filaments that are major components of the cytoskeleton. Despite the importance of this protein, very little information is available regarding its structure and function in plants. In this study, analysis of the protein sequence was done and comparative model of Actin-1 was constructed (UNIPROT ID: P0CJ46) from Arabidopsis thaliana using the crystal structure of Dictyostelium discoideum actin (PDB ID: 1NLV-A) as template employing Modeller version 9.9. The stable structure was generated by 5 nanosecond molecular dynamics simulation steps using GROMOS43A1 96 force field that characterized its structural and dynamic feature. The biochemical function of the final simulated structure was also investigated using PROFUNC. The molecular simulation study suggested that the modeled Actin-1 protein retain its stable conformation in aqueous solution. The predicted binding sites in the modeled Actin-1 protein are very informative for further protein-ligand interaction study.

Opis:
Phenol and chlorophenols are long-lived pollutants frequently found in industrial effluents. Phenols are widely used for the commercial production of a wide variety of resins including phenolic resins, epoxy resins and adhesives, and polyamide for various applications. Adsorption process has been proven one of the best water treatment technologies around the world and the removal of diverse types of pollutants from water. However, widespread use of commercial adsorbent is sometimes restricted due to its higher costs. Attempts have been made to develop inexpensive adsorbents utilizing for the reduction of phenol from water. Four types of adsorbent clay, algae, moringa oleifera and rice husk has been used. Among all rice husk shown 97 % of phenol adsorption at 1mm particle size, pH 4, 3 g/l dosing and 150min contact time.

Opis:
The present article illustrates the modeling and optimization of a dual-slot waveguide for the application of a refractive index biosensor. The nanometer scale waveguide structure uses the silicon-on-insulator platform for the consideration of higher sensitivity and compactness of a resonator biosensor. The modal analysis is performed using the finite difference method based on full vector eigenmode calculation. The maximum field penetration in the lower index region is found for the quasi-TE mode. The sensitivity is maximized through the optimization of the waveguide dimension by relating effective refractive index with the dispersion of a waveguide. The biosensor showed the maximum calculated sensitivity of 461.327 nm/RIU and a limit-of-detection of 2.601 × 10–6 RIU (where RIU denotes refractive index unit).

Potassium Nitrate (PN) is of the basic need of chemical industry. With increase of demand in different production section of fertilizer, pharmaceutical, explosive, food industry etc, potassium nitrate the production becoming non economical to industry. The operating conditions and parameters are the main factors, which responsible for maximised the profits. The main aim of this study is to compared the production potassium nitrate in profitable as well as environmentally suitability way. From the literature different manufacturing process has been summarized for concluding this study.

Opis:
The study presents long-term variability in satellite retrieved phytoplankton size classes (PSC) at two coastal sites, off Gopalpur and Visakhapatnam, in the north-western Bay of Bengal. The abundance-based models by Brewin et al. (2010) (B10) and Sahay et al. (2017) (S17), for retrieval of PSC (micro, nano, and picophytoplankton), from satellite data, were validated. Both the models performed well in the retrieval of nano and microphytoplankton. However, B10 performed poorly in retrieving picophytoplankton. The statistical analysis indicated better performance of the S17 model and hence was applied to Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer onboard Aqua satellite (MODISA) data to understand the temporal (at monthly climatology) and spatial variability (from nearshore to offshore). The spatial distribution indicated nearshore dominance of micro and offshore dominance of picophytoplankton. In nearshore waters off Gopalpur, microphytoplankton dominated throughout the year except for months of south-west monsoon (June and July) where the dominance of picophytoplankton was observed. All PSC exhibited similar distribution at an annual scale with a primary peak during pre-monsoon (March and April) and a secondary peak during post-monsoon (September— November). However, microphytoplankton concentration during post-monsoon was higher off Gopalpur in comparison to Visakhapatnam. The higher microphytoplankton concentration during pre-monsoon was attributed to recurrent phytoplankton blooms. Whereas, post-monsoon increment could be attributed to enhanced phytoplankton growth by availing nutrients sourced from monsoonal precipitation induced terrigenous influx. The outcome of the present study recommends the use of the S17 model for satellite retrieval of PSC from the north-western Bay of Bengal.
