Opis:
In this paper the performance of a partial combining equalizer for Multi-Carrier Code Division Multiple Access (MC-CDMA) systems is analytically and numerically evaluated. In the part of channel identification, authors propose a blind algorithm based on Higher Order Cumulants (HOC) for identifying the parameters representing the indoor scenario of Broadband Radio Access Networks (BRAN A) channel model normalized for MC-CDMA systems. Theoretical analysis and numerical simulation results, in noisy environment and for different Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR), are presented to illustrate the performance of the proposed algorithm in the one hand, and the other hand the impact of partial combining equalizer on the performance of MC-CDMA systems.

Opis:
This work focuses on adaptive Broadband Radio Access Network (BRAN) channel identification and on downlink Multi-Carrier Code Division Multiple Access (MCCDMA) equalization. We use the normalized BRAN C channel model for 4G mobile communications, distinguishing between indoor and outdoor scenarios. On the one hand, BRAN C channel parameters are identified using the Least Mean p-Power (LMP) algorithm. On the other, we consider these coefficients in the context of adaptive equalization. We provide an overview and a mathematic formulation of MC-CDMA systems. According to these fundamental concepts, the equalizer technique is investigated analytically to compensate for channel distortion in terms of the bit error rate (BER). The numerical simulation results, for various signal-to-noise ratios and different p threshold, show that the presented algorithm is able to simulate the BRAN C channel measured with different accuracy levels. Furthermore, as far as the adaptive equalization problem is concerned, the results obtained using the zero-forcing equalizer demonstrate that the algorithm is adequate for some particular cases of threshold p.

Opis:
In this paper, a comparative study between a blind algorithm, based on higher order cumulants, and adaptive algorithms, i.e. Recursive Least Squares (RLS) and Least Mean Squares (LMS) for MultiCarrier Code Division Multiple Access (MC-CDMA) systems equalization is presented. Two practical frequency-selective fading channels, called Broadband Radio Access Network (BRAN A, BRAN B) normalized for MC-CDMA systems are considered. In the part of MC-CDMA equalization, the Zero Forcing (ZF) and the Minimum Mean Square Error (MMSE) equalizer techniques were used. The simulation results in noisy environment and for different signal to noise ratio (SNR) demonstrate that the blind algorithm gives approximately the same results obtained by adaptive algorithms. However, the proposed algorithm presents the advantage to estimate the impulse response of these channels blindly except that the input excitation is non-Gaussian, with the low calculation cost, compared with the adaptive algorithms exploiting the information of input and output for the impulse response channel estimation.

A method was developed to obtain a durable coating consisting of zinc and graphene oxide (Zn-GO) in order to reduce the mechanical wear and tear rate of oil and gas pipelines made of steel. Graphene oxide was obtained from graphite by wet chemical oxidation (unmodified and modified Hummers’ method) using potassium permanganate and sulfuric acid. The process was carried out at various temperatures. The steel was covered with an ultrathin layer of Zn-GO using the electrophoretic deposition method. The GO particle size (< 90 nm) was confirmed by XRD and laser analysis. For GO particles obtained by the modified Hummers’ method, a significant correlation was observed in the scratch (R2 = 0.87) and the Vickers microhardness tests (R2 = 0.93), which indicates a lower wear rate of Zn-GO-coated steel.
Opracowano metodę otrzymywania trwałej powłoki składającej się z cynku i tlenku grafenu (Zn-GO) w celu zmniejszenia zużycia mechanicznego rurociągów naftowo-gazowych wykonanych ze stali. Tlenek grafenu pozyskano z grafitu metodą mokrego utleniania chemicznego (niezmodyfikowana i zmodyfikowana metoda Hummersa) z użyciem nadmanganianu potasu i kwasu siarkowego. Proces prowadzono w różnej temperaturze. Stal powlekano ultra cienką warstwą Zn-GO techniką osadzania elektroforetycznego. Metodą XRD i analizą laserową potwierdzono wielkość cząstek GO (≤ 90 nm). Dla cząstek GO otrzymanych zmodyfikowaną metoda Hummersa zaobserwowano znaczącą korelację w teście zarysowania (R2 = 0.87) i mikrotwardości Vickersa (R2 = 0.93), co świadczy o mniejszym stopniu zużycia stali pokrytej powłoką Zn-GO.

Opis:
In four Maghreb countries (Algeria, Morocco, Mauritania and Tunisia), a considerable improvement of the situation of the telecommunication operators has been noticed during the nineties. The evolution in these countries was very different depending on their economic policies, their effort of reorganization of their telecommunication sector and their technological change. Theses differences will be exhibited and analysed by comparing the operators' performances over a decade (1992-2001). A first approach is based on the Malmquist DEA TFP index for measuring the total factors productivity change, decomposed into technical efficiency change and technological changes. Second, using the Promethee II method and the software ARGOS, a multiple criteria analysis is performed, taking into account a larger scope of analysis. A main issue is that the general performance ranking of sets of operators by country is almost the same according to the two methods, although the variables of inputs and output used for the index of Malmquist are different and narrower in the considered scope than the chosen families of criteria used in method Promethee and software ARGOS. Both methods of analysis provide however complementary useful detailed information, especially in discriminating the technological and management progresses for Malmquist and the two dimensions of performance for Promethee: that are the service to the community and the enterprises performances, often in conflict.

Treatment performances of two wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs), located in North-Eastern Algeria (Souk-Ahras and Sedrata) were tested using ASM1 model. The model, to be considered as a decision tool for the appropriate management of activated sludge systems, served for the prediction of both WWTP behaviours under different operating conditions. In Sedrata WWTP the first management scenarios is based on an increase of inflow rate, taking into account a new transfer volume from a nearby zone. In a second scenerio, the ultimate flow of 40 000 m3∙d–1 is estimated. Regarding Souk-Ahras WWTP, three scenarios were tested. The first tested the impact of an increase of the extraction flow rate and yielded a reduction by 37% of sludge production. The second dealt with the management of the mass budget of substrata and biomass. Finally, the third application was devoted to the estimation of the plant ultimate capacity, estimated to be 60 000 m3∙d–1.
Stosując model ASM1, testowano działanie dwóch oczyszczalni ścieków zlokalizowanych w północnowschodniej Algierii w miejscowościach Souk-Ahras i Sedrata. W odniesieniu do oczyszczalni w Souk-Ahras testowano trzy scenariusze. W pierwszym rozpatrywano wpływ zwiększonej prędkości przepływu, w efekcie uzyskano 37-procentowe zmniejszenie produkcji osadu. Drugi scenariusz dotyczył zarządzania bilansem masy podłoża i biomasy. Trzeci z kolej polegał na ocenie docelowej przepustowości ścieków szacowanej na 60 000 m3∙d–1.

Opis:
Most approaches to inflectional morphology propose a synchronic account for the establishment of defaultness in the plural inflection. The current research aims at exploring the representation of the default system in JA at a diachronic level. The grammar of JA displays two default plural forms: the sound feminine plural marked with the suffix -aat (e.g. mataar/matar-aat ‘an airport/airports’) where a suffixation rule predicts the occurrence of the default plural. The second default plural is the iambic broken plural marked with an internal vowel change (short – long vowel) (kursi/karaasi ‘a seat/seats’). Our diachronic analysis would take into account the default shift that occurred in the grammar of JA in two different periods: the Turkish period and the British period. The findings reveal the importance of the diachronic factors in determining the status of ‘defaultness’ in terms of the ability of the lexicon to accept two default inflections. So, JA consists a hierarchy that contains two defaults: the iambic broken plural and the sound feminine plural. This mechanism of accepting two defaults gives insights into applying this multiple default format crosslinguistically in which a grammar of a language can host a multiple default system.

This paper is trying to investigate the interaetion between case checking and the thematie roles of the DP in al-Ishtighal (verbal occupation) construction in Modern Standard Arabic (MSA). Standard Arabic belongs to the group of VSO languages which also allow SVO as an alternative order in finite clauses. Yet, Arabic possesses a rich case morphology that is able to mark the thematic roles of the DPs in the clause. This research provides evidence that there are differences between left-dislocation and the verbal occupation construction (Ishtighal) despite of their structural similarity. These differences show that verbal occupation construction in MSA has the tendency to behave as topicalization where the fronted DP possesses the focus characteristics. Further, it has been shown that the multi-foci tendency is valid in such constructions like verbal occupation.

The Callisto spectrometer recorded broadband of solar radio burst Type IV from 250-900 MHz. Using data from BLEN7M observatory, we aim to provide inclusive description about the formation and dynamics of solar radio burst type IV due to active region AR2297. About five minutes, the events revealed strong pulsations and “broad patterns” with details of solar radio burst type III with presence of CMEs. AR2297 is the most active region which produced X2-Class solar flares. The speeds of solar wind exceeds 376.0 km/second with 4.0 g/cm3 density of proton in the solar corona. The radio flux shows 121 SFU. Furthermore, there are two active regions, AR2298 and AR2299 also presents in the X2-class solar flares. The Centre of the Sun is very important to be study because this layer is where the nuclear reaction will be occurred. During large event pre-flare usually continues a few minutes and followed by impulsive phase about 3 to 10 minutes. Solar storms such as solar flare and Coronal Mass Ejections are frequently occurred on the area of the Sun that have strong magnetic field or known as active region The release of the stored free magnetic energy that probably drives a CME can take many forms including (predominantly) mechanical in the form of an expanding CME and erupting filament, electromagnetic emission in the form of a flare, and also in the acceleration of energetic particles, magnetic field reconfiguration and bulk plasma motion. In this study, the data of active region of the Sun was taken from official website of the Langkawi National Observatory. The image of the active region was observed by using 11-inch Celestron telescope with solar filter. This data confirms that there was a strong M class of solar flare during the day due to eruption of AR 2529 was occurred on 18th of April. From the x-ray flux data also, it can be observed that few days before M6.7 class solar flare occurred, there were several C classes of flare. The evolution of small AR 2529 to a big heart-shape forms an eruption that producing strong M6.7 class of flare and three gradual CMEs. This strong flare caused significant impact around the high technologies of Pacific Ocean by fading the signal at frequencies below 15 MHz.

The aim of the study is to analyse the axisymmetric free vibration of layered cylindrical shells filled with a quiescent fluid. The fluid is assumed to be incompressible and inviscid. The equations of axisymmetric vibrations of layered cylindrical shell filled with fluid, on the longitudinal and transverse displacement components are obtained using Love’s first approximation theory. The solutions of displacement functions are assumed in a separable form to obtain a system of coupled differential equations in terms of displacement functions. The displacement functions are approximated by Bickley-type splines. A generalized eigenvalue problem is obtained and solved numerically for a frequency parameter and an associated eigenvector of spline coefficients. Two layered shells with three different types of materials under clamped-clamped boundary conditions are considered. Parametric studies are made on the variation of the frequency parameter with respect to length-to-radius ratio and length-to-thickness ratio.

In a previous study, they deduced that the burst was produced by electron beams accelerated in blast wave shocks and injected along open magnetic field lines, similar to the herringbone bursts at metric wavelengths. Usually, if there is another solar flare recorded during complex solar radio burst type III it should be type II burst. Different for this event, the single solar radio burst recorded occur 8 minutes 30 seconds before the complex solar radio burst type III. The Coronal Mass Ejections also recorded occurred 7 hours before the single and complex solar radio burst type III. During solar activity the energy particles of the sun released due to solar flare, Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs), coronal heating as well as sunspot. Solar radio burst will be observed in the presence of solar activity such solar flare, CMEs and solar prominence as the indicator for those events to happen. During the peak of solar cycle, the filaments are present due to the active magnetic field and solar storm’s explosion. This type of solar radio burst normally can be seen in the phase of impulsive solar flare. Therefore, it is crucial to understand field line connectivity in flare and the access of flare accelerated particle to the earth. In this study, we highlighted on the observation of solar radio burst type III on 9th of May at 05:31 UT till 05:44 UT. The event was successfully recoded by e-CALLISTO using BLEINSW radio telescope. The Solar Radio Burst Type III that had been observed was related to the Coronal Mass Ejections and the mechanisms that trigger the events have been discussed. It is shown that the CMEs is believed to happen because of the magnetic filament that connected to active region (AR) 2339 was erupted, and combination of two wild filament produced a bright CMEs. Fortunately, the expanding cloud does not appear to be heading for earth.
