Opis:
St. Gregory of Nyssa came from a numerous family which, having already been Christian for few generations, gave few saints to the Church. The care for the purity of faith manifested itself in different ways. First, it appeared as a careful upbringing in a family environment, which was established by all family mem-bers, namely parents and elder children who assisted in educating younger sib-lings, and which became visible in the transfer of faith from oldest generations to youngest ones by creating some tradition. The second area in ecclesial circles was the care for the orthodoxy. A fragment of the letter of St. Basil the Great to the eldest of Neocezarea can be an example of the care for the purity of the de-posit of the faith, which is strongly against heterodox teaching propagated in some ambiences. For the Cappadocian fathers heterodox sciences referring to the deity of the Son, the Holy Spirit and the appropriate understanding of the Holy Trinity, were a big challenge. St. Gregory of Nyssa appeared against dif-ferent manifestations of the heterodoxy (such as Arians, eunomians, macedoni-ans etc.) in a deliberate and determined way. Parallel to the theological reflec-tion he progressed the realization of commandments and evangelical advices through establishing the care for needs of the poor and the elderly, and ad-vanced attempts for strengthening faith instilled with baptism and for showing the prospect of participation in the life of God.

St. Gregory of Nazianzus was born in a Christian family wherein he re-ceived a Christian education together with his humanities and theology. After the Council of Nicaea (325 A.D.) and that of Constantinople (380 A.D.), the faith in the Triune God was a pillar siblings. Also, thanks to the care of his parents, he obtained a thorough education in of Christian doctrine, which resulted in the care of passing it on in the ecclesial communities of the fourth century. Pastors of the Church in Cappadocia and Asia Minor took care of the correct formation of the faithful who were entrusted to them, and combat any heterodox ideas which were proclaimed in many circles.

Opis:
This article is the first attempt in Polish to present the main features of Aponius interpretation of the Song of Songs. For he was one of many authors who commented this book of the Old Testament, the content of which has always been a problem of interpretation. In ancient Christian times there were two exegetical currents: the literal and allegorical. Aponius falls within this second trend but brings individual and original exegesis off. In love of the bridegroom and the bride seems to see the symbol of love of the divine nature to human nature in the mystery of the Incarnation of the Son of God. By Aponius God himself comes through the Incarnation of the Word of the Father for his vineyard, which is the people of Israel, and through the precious seedlings originating from it and by the apostles, is revealed to the whole world, and through the seed of faith sown in individual peoples, creates a separate vineyards and offers the bride to the lavish use of the specific, unique fruits of welfare, to a shared joy in the vineyards.

St. Gregory of Nyssa
Opis:
Death is inscribed in the physical nature of man and arouses in him a lot of uncertainty, fear and sadness. Although the inevitable death is still difficult to explain, especially when it concerns children who have not been able to reach maturity much. St. Gregory of Nyssa devoted a lot of space in his writings to its understanding and the preparation of the faithful for its reception. For man is a corporeal and spiritual being, created by almighty God in his image and likeness. The material body has been animated by the immortal soul. For man combines elements of material and non-material reality. Death is the moment when the two elements separate. Concerned about the fate of man, God sent his Only-begotten Son into the world, who, taking human nature, accomplished the work of salvation in it, dying on the cross and rising, which was a great victory over death. The resurrection of Christ became not only a demonstration of God's omnipotence, but a foreshadowing of the resurrection of all people, because in it human nature regained its original state, which people lost due to the sin of their first parents. St. Gregory of Nyssa, emphasizing the effects of the work of redemption, points out that a person should not fear death, because he can prepare for its encounter by practicing a virtuous life on earth. For man's goal is to see God, and he can achieve them by keeping the commandments and following the attitude of the incarnate Son of God, which reveals to mankind what is necessary in God's eyes to participate in the glory of the Kingdom of Heaven.

Shepherd of Hermas
Opis:
W pouczeniach dotyczących życia małżeńskiego i rodzinnego, szczególnie w kwestii przebaczenia i pojednania w przypadku cudzołóstwa, Hermas w sposób oryginalny rozwija doktrynę Nowego Testamentu.
The Shepherd of Hermas, which originated in Rome in the middle of the II century, is one of the extremely original literary works, interesting and important for the marital and family spirituality. Its style reminds of apocalyptic writings widespread in Judaic and Judeo-Christian communities from the 2nd century before Christ to the 2nd century after Christ. the exhortations included in this work are formulated from the eschatological perspective, characteristic of all writings of the apostolic fathers. In the exhortations concerning marital and family life, particularly on the question of forgiveness and reconciliation in case of adultery, Hermas is developing the doctrine of the new testament in an original way. He urges to reconcile with and take home an apologetic and repentant sinner. this Hermas view does not find adequate support in biblical texts, since according to Christ’s message the sinner receives forgiveness not only once after his baptism, but each time he confesses his sins in an apologetic and repentant way (1 J 1, 9). the Shepherd text is undoubtedly an extension of the moral teachings about adultery in the marriage, according to which sanctions apply to both parties, and not only wife as it would seem to result directly from the text of the gospel according to St. Matthew.

Opis:
In the first three centuries of Christianity the concern for the common good, including not only the individual but the entire religious and culturally diverse community, was not in the interest of the followers of Christ. All the more so because Christians in many circles were perceived negatively, seeing in their existence and action the threat to the existing religious, social and political order. Yet the contribution of Christians to the building of common good in the first centuries is very evident, although due to the relatively small community that the followers of Christ in the Empire community seem to be small. It is important, however, that the goals of their actions were not in conflict with the best interests of the Empire community. An important question in this context is: what good or values did Christians consider individual and common to all the inhabitants of the Empire? They include such good things as the protection of every life, the one and indissoluble marriage, the hospitality and the support of the poor, and in relation to society and the Empire, Christians have declared themselves supporters of peace, emphasized the honesty in paying taxes and tributes imposed by law, justice in human relations. The purpose of this article is to point out some of the activities of Christians in the first two centuries, supporting the family and community in which Christians lived, as a manifestation of concern for the common good. Information on these activities is found in many of the works of Christians born in this period, which have survived to our times.

The texts of the Apostolic Fathers are a clear testimony to the fact that the responsiblility for the moral and religious education of children is borne not only the ecclesial community, but above all it rests on the parents. They are before God and the community of believers in Christ are responsible for their educational activities in relation to their children. The main objective of these activities was shaping attitudes in the young man widely understood piety known in the biblical tradition as the fear of God. In this work, it is also important cooperation of young people conscious of great goals to achieve common. The effects of the educational process undertaken by Christian parents became apparent in the attitude of the heroic witness during the persecution.

Opis:
In the mid-third century, Thascius Caecilius Cyprianus, a wealthy and educated man, was elected bishop of Carthage in proconsular Africa. During the persecution ordered by Emperor Decius, the faith of many people was put to the test. Disciplinary and administrative divisions arose in the Christian community. St. Cyprian appealed to the old tradition cultivated not only in the Church of proconsular Africa, but also in other provinces of the universal Church, which was the convening of synods in order to solve together pastoral problems. During the time of sitting on the episcopal capital in Carthage, a total of 7 synods were convened, whose participants took their stand on the schism of Felicissimus and Novatian, and on the return to the church community of persons who were subject to the decree of Decius by making idolaters, the validity of baptism by heretics and baptism children. This study is an attempt to show the important role of synods in shaping the collegiality of bishops in proconsular Africa in the mid-third century in the context of concern for the unity of the Church.
W połowie III wieku biskupem Kartaginy w Afryce prokonsularnej został wybrany Thascius Caecilius Cyprianus, człowiek zamożny i wykształcony.
