During the early Palaeozoic, echinoderm body plans were much more diverse than they are today, displaying four distinct types of symmetry. This included the bilateral ctenocystoids, which were long thought to be restricted to the Cambrian. Here, we describe a new species of ctenocystoid from the Upper Ordovician of Scotland (Conollia sporranoides sp. nov.). This allows us to revise the genus Conollia, which was previously based on a single poorly-known species from the Upper Ordovician of Wales (Conollia staffordi). Both these species are characterized by a unique morphology consisting of an elongate-ovoid body covered in spines, which clearly distinguishes them from their better-known Cambrian relatives; they are interpreted as infaunal or semi-infaunal burrowers from deep-water environments. This indicates that the ctenocystoid body plan was not fixed early in the evolution of the group, and they most likely modified their structure as an adaptation to a new mode of life in the Ordovician.

The scapulocoracoid of Czatkobatrachus polonicus Evans and Borsuk−Białynicka, 1998, a stem−frog from the Early Triassic karst locality of Czatkowice (Southern Poland), is described. The overall type of scapulocoracoid is plesiomorphic, but the subcircular shape and laterally oriented glenoid is considered synapomorphic of Salientia. The supraglenoid foramen is considered homologous to the scapular cleft of the Anura. In Czatkobatrachus, the supraglenoid foramen occupies an intermediate position between that of the early tetrapod foramen and the scapular cleft of Anura. The cleft scapula is probably synapomorphic for the Anura. In early salientian phylogeny, the shift in position of the supraglenoid foramen may have been associated with an anterior rotation of the forelimb. This change in position of the forelimb may reflect an evolutionary shift from a mainly locomotory function to static functions (support, balance, eventually shock−absorption). Laterally extended limbs may have been more effective than posterolateral ones in absorbing landing stresses, until the specialised shock−absorption pectoral mechanism of crown−group Anura had developed. The glenoid shape and position, and the slender scapular blade, of Czatkobatrachus, in combination with the well−ossified joint surfaces on the humerus and ulna, all support a primarily terrestrial rather than aquatic mode of life. The new Polish material also permits clarification of the pectoral anatomy of the contemporaneous Madagascan genus Triadobatrachus.

The paper aims to analyse the innovation process in the economy with the focus on agriculture and food production in Hungary. There was presented a model of production with the market-focused technology development system. The authors argue that the objectives of the system are as follows: inducing competition between input suppliers, increasing supply, loosening rigid trading structures, fostering the optimisation of mechanisation and ensuring the possibility of appropriate technology development. Harmonizing the subsidizing systems, optimizing their different incentive factors will become more precise and professionally more established and all these can contribute to optimizing the growth of innovations. In my work, I would like to develop the concept of a market place that is a marketplace and an innovation space at the same time, which can improve the conditions for the purchase of European agriculture, given the chance to expand production by improving profitability.
Celem artykułu była analiza procesu innowacji w gospodarce z naciskiem na rolnictwo i produkcję żywności na Węgrzech. Zaprezentowano model produkcji z systemem technologii zorientowanych na rozwój rynku. Zdaniem autora system ten ma na celu m.in.: wywołanie konkurencji między dostawcami surowców, zwiększenie podaży, rozluźnienie sztywnych struktur handlowych, wspieranie optymalizacji mechanizacji oraz zapewnienie możliwości odpowiedniego rozwoju technologii. Harmonizacja mechanizmów wsparcia, optymalizując ich różne czynniki motywacyjne, powinna stać się bardziej precyzyjna, co w efekcie stworzy bardziej profesjonalnie warunki do rozwoju innowacji.

Opis:
This study investigates the effects of grain boundary structures on mechanical properties of nanocrystalline Al-0.7Mg-1.0Cu alloy using nanoindentation system. Grain boundary structure transforms to high angle grain boundaries from low angle ones with increase of heat treatment temperature and the transformation temperature is about 400°C. Young’s modulus and hardness are higher in sample with low angle grain boundaries, while creep length is larger in sample with high angle ones. These results indicate that progress of plastic deformation at room temperature is more difficult in sample with low angle ones. During compression test at 200°C, strain softening occurs in all samples. However, yield strength in sample with low angle grain boundaries is higher twice than that with high angle ones due to higher activation energy for grain boundary sliding.

The choristoderan reptile Monjurosuchus is described from the Lower Cretaceous Tetori Group of Japan on the basis of an associated specimen from the Kuwajima Formation, Ishikawa Prefecture, and more fragmentary remains from the contemporaneous Okurodani Formation, Gifu Prefecture. This is the first report of Monjurosuchus from Japan, but a long−necked choristodere, Shokawa, has already been recorded from these deposits. Monjurosuchus was first described from the Lower Cretaceous Jehol Biota of China, although it has only recently been recognised as a choristodere. As reconstructed, the Japanese Monjurosuchus differs from the type species, Monjurosuchus splendens, in the structure of the postorbital region, reduction of the quadratojugal, a slender parietal with a deep groove along the interparietal suture, and elongation of the jugal. As in M. splendens, the lower temporal fenestrae are closed. A cladistic analysis was performed in order to place Japanese and Chinese taxa, including the incompletely described Chinese long−necked Hyphalosaurus lingyanensis, into choristoderan phylogeny. The results support the monophyly of Neochoristodera and of a Sino−Japanese clade of long necked choristoderes. The placement of the European Tertiary Lazarussuchus remains problematic, but the analysis supports its placement within Choristodera rather than on the stem. The identification of Monjurosuchus from Japan provides an additional link between the fossil assemblages of the Tetori Group and those of the slightly younger Jehol Biota of China.

Laser cladding is a method that can be applied to repair the crack and break on the mold and die surfaces, as well as generate new attributes on the surface to improve toughness, hardness, and corrosion resistance. It is used to extend the life of the mold. It also has the advantages of superior bonding strength and precision coating on a local area compared with the conventional thermal spraying technology. In this study, we investigated the effect of cladding on low carbon alloy steel using 18%Cr-2.5%Ni-Fe powder (Rockit404), which showed high hardness on the die surface. The process conditions were performed in an argon atmosphere using a diode laser source specialized for 900-1070 nm, and the output conditions were 5, 6, and 10 kW, respectively. After the cladding was completed, the surface coating layer’s shape, the hardness according to the cross-section’s thickness, and the microstructure were analyzed.

The spatial variability of some physicochemical properties of topsoils/subsoils under secondary forest, grassland fallow, and bare-soil fallow of three locations was evaluated. The data were analyzed and described using classical statistical parameters. Based on the coefficient of variation, bulk density, total porosity, 60-cm-tension moisture content, and soil pH were of low variability. Coarse and fine sand were of moderate variability. Highly variable soil properties included silt, clay, macroporosity, saturated hydraulic conductivity, organic matter concentration, and cation exchange capacity. Overall, soil pH and silt varied the least and the most, respectively. Relative weighting showed that location dominantly influenced the soil variability, except for soil porosity and organic matter concentration influenced mostly by land use. Most of the soil data were normally distributed; others were positively skewed and/or kurtotic. The minimum number of samples (at 25 samples ha-1) required to estimate mean values of soil properties was highly soil property-specific, ranging from 1 (topsoil pH-H2O) to 246 (topsoil silt). Cation exchange capacity of subsoils related fairly strongly with cation exchange capacity of topsoils (R2 = 0.63). Spatial variability data can be used to extrapolate dynamic soil properties across a derived-savanna landscape.

Badano skład ilościowy i jakościowy związków próchnicznych gleb deluwialnych położonych u podnóży zboczy o przeciętnych spadkach: < 3%, 3-6% i > 10% na obszarach czarnoziemów leśno- stepowych, szarych gleb leśnych i gleb brunatnych. Stwierdzono, że w kształtowaniu składu ilościowego i jakościowego związków próchnicznych gleb deluwialnych dominującą rolę odgrywa kierunek procesu humifikacji w glebach wierzchowin.
The quantitative and qualitative composition of humus in deluvial soils of Glubczvcki Plateau was studied. The investigated soils were located at the base of slopes with different average inclination: < 3%, 3-6%, 6-10% and > 10%, on the areas of forest-steppe chernozems, grey forest soils and brown soils. It was found, that direction of humification process in the soils of uplands play dominat role in formation of quantitative and qualitative composition of humus in the deluvial soils located at the foot of slopes.

This work mainly focuses on the sintering behavior of the Cu-Sn alloy with the addition of Ag up to 4 wt% after pulsed electric current sintering (PECS) process for ultra-fast sintering. The microstructural evolution was characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and density measurements. The mechanical properties were evaluated via measurements of transverse rupture strength (TRS) and Rockwell hardness. The mechanism during the sintering process has been discussed thoroughly, and the effect on porosity with the addition of the Ag is also correlated. The results showed that the growth of porosity progressed with the amount of Ag up to 2 wt%, and further addition of Ag leads reduction in porosity. The effect on mechanical properties were improved slowly as the amount of Ag increased.

Khurendukhosaurus is an enigmatic genus of choristodere, recorded from the Lower Cretaceous of East Asia, Mongolia, and Siberian Russia. Until now, it was known only from isolated skull and postcranial elements, limiting comparison with other genera. Three major morphotypes have been recognised within Choristodera: longirostrine neochoristoderes with short-necks, and brevirostrine non-neochoristoderes with either short or long necks. The morphotype of Khurendukhosaurus was uncertain, although it had been inferred to be long-necked, based on cervical and caudal vertebral morphology shared with the Chinese Hyphalosaurus and on the results of phylogenetic analysis that placed it within a clade of Sino-Japanese long-necked taxa. Newly discovered material from the Mongolian type locality, Khuren-Dukh, preserves most major postcranial elements of a single individual. This specimen confirms that Khurendukhosaurus belongs to the long-necked morphotype, in having at least 13 cervical vertebrae. Moreover, a new phylogenetic analysis supports the placement of Khurendukhosaurus as a sister group of the Hyphalosaurus + Shokawa clade. Based on the new material, Khurendukhosaurus is estimated to have been roughly 1 m in total length, placing it at the upper end of the size range for long-necked choristoderes.

Purpose: The role of Helicobacter pylori (Hp) in the development of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) remains disputable. This study was planned to determine clinical-epidemic correlations between reflux esophagitis (RE) and Hp in older children. Materials and methods: 308 children with RE and 418 patients with chronic gastritis (CG) without RE between the ages of 12 and 18 were examined. Hp was diagnosed by histological (Giemsa and hematoxylin-eosin stain, with evaluation of dissemination grade) and rapid urease test. Subjective symptoms (heartburn, abdominal pain, other dyspeptic complaints) were analyzed by questionnaire. Results: Hp infection was found in 44.5% of children with RE (no difference in patients without RE), and it does not increase the erosive esophageal defects risk. Clinical symptoms are not connected to this infection in examined patients. The frequency of Hp infection decreases with the disease duration increase. Conclusion: The development of RE is not connected with Hp, but the disease course has certain peculiarities in the conditions of Hp infection.
