    The paper addresses the problem of analysing information tables which contain objects described by both attributes and criteria, i.e. attributes with preference-ordered scales. The objects contained in those tables, representing exemplary decisions made by a decision maker or a domain expert, are usually classified into one of several classes that are also often preference-ordered. Analysis of such data using the classic rough set methodology may produce improper results, as the original rough set approach is not able to discover inconsistencies originating from consideration of typical criteria, like e.g. product quality, market share or debt ratio. The paper presents the framework for the analysis of both attributes and criteria and a very promising algorithm for generating reducts. The algorithm presented is evaluated in an experiment with real-life data sets and its results are compared to those by two other reduct generating algorithms.

    Inconsistent information is one of main difficulties in the explanation and recommendation tasks of decision analysis. We distinguish two kinds of such information inconsistencies : the first is related to indiscernibility of objects described by attributes defined in nominal or ordinal scales, and the other follows from violation of the dominance principle among attributes defined on preference ordered ordinal or cardinal scales, i.e. among criteria. In this paper we discuss how these two kinds of inconsistencies are handled by a new approach based on the rough sets theory. Combination of this theory with inductive learning techniques leads to generation of decision rules from rough approximations of decision classes. Particular attention is paid to numerical attribute scales and preference-ordered scales of criteria, and their influence on the syntax of induced decision rules.

    Multiple-criteria classification (sorting) problem concerns assignment of actions (objects) to some pre-defined and preference-ordered decision classes. The actions are described by a finite set of criteria, i.e. attributes, with preference-ordered scales. To perform the classification, criteria have to be aggregated into a preference model which can be: utility (discriminant) function, or outranking relation, or "if..., then..." decision rules. Decision rules involve partial profiles on subsets of criteria and dominance relation on these profiles. A challenging problem in multiple-criteria decision making is the aggregation of criteria with ordinal scales. We show that the decision rule model we propose has advantages over a general utility function, over the integral of Sugeno, conceived for ordinal criteria, and over an outranking relation. This is shown by basic axioms characterizing these models. Moreover, we consider a more general decision rule model based on the rough set theory. The advantage of the rough set approach compared to competitive methodologies is the possibility of handling partially inconsistent data that are often encountered in preferential information, due to hesitation of decision makers, unstable character of their preferences, imprecise or incomplete knowledge and the like. We show that these inconsistencies can be represented in a meaningful way by "if..., then..." decision rules induced from rough approximations. The theoretical results reported in this paper show that the decision rule model is the most general aggregation model among all the considered models.
    Wielokryterialne zadania klasyfikacji (sortowania) dotyczą przypisania działan (obiektów) pewnym z góry określonym i uporządkowanym wzgl(c)dem preferencji klasom. Działania są opisane przez skończony zbiór kryteriów, tj. atrybutów o skalach uporządkowanych według preferencji. Aby dokonać klasyfikacji, kryteria muszą zostać zagregowane do modelu preferencji, którym może być: funkcja użyteczności (dyskryminująca), bąd" relacja przewyższania, bąd" reguła decyzyjna typu "jeśli..., to...". Reguły decyzyjne oparte są na cz(c)ściowych profilach na podzbiorach kryteriów i relacji dominacji na tych profilach. Wyzwaniem w wielokryterialnym podejmowaniu decyzji jest agregacja kryteriów o skalach porządkowych. Pokazujemy w artykule, że model reguł decyzyjnych, zaproponowany przez nas, jest korzystniejszy niż ogólna postać funkcji użyteczności, niż całka Sugeno zaproponowana dla kryteriów porządkowych, i niż relacja przewyższania. Pokazano to przy pomocy podstawowych aksjomatów charakteryzujących rozważane modele. Ponadto, rozważamy ogólniejszy model reguł decyzyjnych, oparty na teorii zbiorów przybliżonych. Korzyścią z zastosowania zbiorów przybliżonych w porównaniu do innych podejść jest możliwość uwzgl(c)dniania cz(c)ściowo niespójnych danych, jakie cz(c)sto spotyka si(c) informacji o preferencjach, w związku z wahaniami decydentów, niestabilnością ich preferencji, niedokładną wiedzą, itp. Pokazujemy, że takie niespójności mogą być reprezentowane w sposób sensowny poprzez reguły decyzyjne typu "jeśli..., to...", wyprowadzone z ocen dokonanych przy pomocy zbiorów przybliżonych. Wyniki teoretyczne przedstawione w pracy pokazują, że model reguł decyzyjnych jest najogólniejszym modelem agregacji spośrod wszystkich rozważanych modeli.

    Opis:
    We consider a hierarchical classification problem involving sets of attributes and criteria. The problem of classification concerns an assignment of a set of objects to pre-defined classes. The classification to preference-ordered classes is called sorting. The objects are described by two sorts of attributes: criteria and regular attributes, depending on whether the attribute domain is preference-ordered or not. The hierarchical classification and sorting is made in finite number of steps due to hierarchical structure of regular attributes and criteria in the form of a tree. We propose a methodology based on the decision rule preference model. The model is constructed by inductive learning from examples of hierarchical decisions made by the Decision Maker on a reference set of objects. To deal with inconsistencies appearing in decision examples we adapt the rough set approach to the hierarchical classification and sorting problems. Due to inconsistency and their propagation from the bottom to the top of the hierarchy, the description of an object on a particular attribute may be not a simple value but either a subset of a regular attribute domain or an interval on a criterion scale. An example illustrates the methodology presented.
    Rozpatrujemy problem klasyfikacji hierarchicznej ze zbiorami atrybutów i kryteriów. Zadanie klasyfikacji dotyczy przydziału zbioru obiektów do z góry zdefiniowanych klas. Klasyfikacja do klas uporządkowanych według relacji preferencji nazywana jest sortowaniem. Obiekty są opisane przez dwa rodzaje atrybutów: kryteria i właściwe atrybuty, w zależności od tego, czy dziedzina atrybutu jest uporządkowana względem preferencji, czy też nie. Hierarchiczna klasyfikacja i sortowanie wykonywane są w skończonej liczbie kroków dzięki hierarchicznej strukturze atrybutów właściwych i kryteriów, w postaci drzewa. Proponujemy metodyk(c) opartą na modelu reguł decyzyjnych co do preferencji. Model jest konstruowany poprzez uczenie indukcyjne na przykładach decyzji hierarchicznych podejmowanych przez decydenta w stosunku do zbioru odniesienia obiektów. Aby poradzić sobie z niespójnościami pojawiającymi się w przykładach decyzji zaadaptowaliśmy podejście zbiorów przybliżonych do zadania hierarchicznej klasyfikacji i sortowania. Wobec niespójności i ich propagacji od dołu do góry hierarchii, opis obiektu w ramach konkretnego atrybutu może nie być pojedynczą wartością, ale bądź to podzbiorem dziedziny atrybutu właściwego bądź to przedziałem na skali kryterium. Zaproponowaną metodykę zilustrowaliśmy przykładem.

    Solving multicriteria decision problems, like choice and ranking, requires the use of decision maker's DM's (Decision Maker's) preference model. In this paper, we investigate some issues of equivalence between the preference model in terms of "if..., then..." decision rules and a concordance-discordance preference model based on the use of the outranking relation. The decision rule model is attractive for at least two reasons: (i) it is intelligible and speaks the language of the DM, (ii) the preference information coming from the DM is a set of decision examples. The decision rules are induced from rough approximations of the preference relation specified in decision examples. Then, from the set of decision rules representing the DM's preferences, criteria weights and veto thresholds are inferred, setting up an equivalent preference model following from concordance-discordance tests proposed in ELECTRE methods. A simple example will illustrate the interest of such an equivalence.
    Rozwiązywanie wielokryterialnych zadań decyzyjnych, takich jak wybór i rangowanie, wymaga zastosowania modelu preferencji decydenta. W artykule rozważa się pewne zagadnienia dotyczące równoważności pomiędzy modelem preferencji w postaci reguł decyzyjnych "jeśli..., to..." oraz modelem preferencji zgodności-niezgodności opartym na relacji przewyższania. Model oparty na regułach decyzyjnych jest atrakcyjny z co najmniej dwóch powodów: (i) jest łatwy do zrozumienia i posługuje się językiem decydenta, (ii) informacja o preferencjach, pochodząca od decydenta jest zbiorem przykładów decyzji. Reguły decyzyjne są wyprowadzane z opartych na zbiorach przybliżonych ocen relacji preferencji stanowiących podstaw(c) podanych przykładów. Następnie, ze zbioru reguł decyzyjnych reprezentujących preferencje decydenta, wyprowadzane są wagi kryteriów i progi weto, stanowiące podstawę równoważnego modelu preferencji, wynikającego z testów zgodności-niezgodności, zaproponowanych w metodyce ELECTRE. Dla zilustrowania istotności przedstawionej równoważności stanowi podano i zanalizowano prosty przykład.

    The performance and the effects of applying the telematic system to the building transport-equipment enterprise were analysed in that paper. The KOMTRAX system used for this purpose allows the operation of building machinery to be continually monitored. The system provides great advantages, including the prompt completion of work tasks (about 30-40%), the reduction of vehicle maintenance costs (about 20-30%), the decrease in unauthorised mileages (about 100%) and the reduction of fuel consumption (about 20%).
    W artykule przeanalizowano funkcjonowanie i efekty zastosowania systemu telematycznego w przedsiębiorstwie transportowo-sprzętowym zaplecza budowlanego. Zastosowany tam system KOMTRAX pozwala na bieżące monitorowanie pracy maszyn budowlanych. System zapewnia duże korzyści m.in. zwiększenie terminowości wykonywania zadań (o około 30-40%), zmniejszenie kosztów utrzymania pojazdów( o około 20-30%), redukcję nieautoryzowanych przebiegów (o około 100%) oraz zmniejszenie zużycia paliwa (o około 20%).

    One of the crucial problems in the field of knowledge discovery is development of good interestingness measures for evaluation of the discovered patterns. In this paper, we consider quantitative, objective interestingness measures for "if..., then... " association rules. We focus on three popular interestingness measures, namely rule interest function of Piatetsky-Shapiro, gain measure of Fukuda et al., and dependency factor used by Pawlak. We verify whether they satisfy the valuable property M of monotonic dependency on the number of objects satisfying or not the premise or the conclusion of a rule, and property of hypothesis symmetry (HS). Moreover, analytically and through experiments we show an interesting relationship between those measures and two other commonly used measures of rule support and anti-support.

    This paper presents the Necessary-preference-enhanced Evolutionary Multiobjective Optimizer (NEMO), which combines an evolutionary multiobjective optimization with robust ordinal regression within an interactive procedure. In the course of NEMO, the decision maker is asked to express preferences by simply comparing some pairs of solutions in the current population. The whole set of additive value functions compatible with this preference information is used within a properly modified version of the evolutionary multiobjective optimization technique NSGA-II in order to focus the search towards solutions satisfying the preferences of the decision maker. This allows to speed up convergence to the most preferred region of the Pareto-front.

    Opis:
    This study aimed at the simulation of bone tissue remodeling within a bone defect with the utilization of the finite element method (FEM), enabling - via elaborated application - objective evaluation of orthodontic forces which positively influence periodontium in vivo. The initial position of each bracket on the passive archwire was registered, and then a geometrical and discretemodel of the appliance was created automatically. Assessment of the dental scans obtained using cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) allowed evaluation of the range of bracket displacement: from the initial position to the final one achieved on the active archwire. Those displacements established terminal conditions in the finite element analysis, enabling calculation of orthodontic force levels. An individual design of a tooth with periodontal ligaments and the periodontal defect subsequently loaded with the determined forces allowed simulation of bone remodeling according to Carters adaptation process. Mainly, the bone apposition processes took place in the central part of the periodontal defect, in proximity of the alveolar ridge. However, FEM application in the analysis of bone tissue regeneration within bone defects enables precise evaluation of the achieved changes, therefore allows determination of orthodontic forces positively influencing periodontium in vivo.

    Opis:
    Introducing integrated system ZSIKRP have important implications for increased passenger comfort and improve the technical level and reduce the maintenance costs of rail vehicles. Currently the majority of manufacturers of rolling stock is focused on meeting the TSI requirements in the context of the interoperability of rolling stock within the ERTMS/ETCS and in these works there is no place for activities aimed at introducing systems supporting the work of the driver and increase the safety of passengers. The adopted within the framework of ERTMS/ETCS work focused on ensuring the safety of structural (as defined in the standard EN 50129), while the project ZSIKRP focused on the safety of travellers and safety resulting from the technical conditions in rail transport as well as in the context of protection against attacks of aggression. A special module was devoted to the role of optimizing the fuel consumption of the vehicle SA 132-006 (type SZT) and energy in EN 57-1756 (type EZT).
    Wprowadzenie zintegrowanego systemu ZSIKRP ma istotne znaczenie dla zwiększenia komfortu pasażerów i zmniejszenia kosztów eksploatacji i utrzymania pojazdów szynowych. Obecnie większość producentów taboru koncentruje się na spełnienie wymagań TSI w kontekście interoperacyjność taboru w ramach ERTMS / ETCS. W tych obszarach nie ma celowości dla działań mających na celu wprowadze-nie systemów wspomagających pracę maszynistów i poprawiających bezpieczeństwo pasażerów. Przyjęta w ramach ERTMS /ECTS prace skoncentrowane są na zapewnieniu bezpieczeństwa elementów struktury systemu (jak zdefiniowano w normie EN 50129), natomiast projekt ZSIKRP zorientowany jest na bezpieczeństwo podróżnych i bezpieczeństwo wynikających z warunków technicznych w transporcie kolejowym, a także w kontekście ochrony przed zagrożeniami. Dodatkowo opracowano specjalny moduł dedykowany do optymalizacji zużycia paliwa przez pojazd SA 132-006 (typ SZT) i energii w EN 57-1756 (typu EZT).

    Safety of the railway transport is extremely important issue, thus it has to be supported by numerous of terms. It is not only the legislation and organization or traffic control but also the proper quality of every devices in the railway infrastructure. The paper deals with safety in the rail industry. Companies and producers of railway equipment have to guarantee the best quality, maintenance and reliability. Safety is also a device directly responsible for protecting e.g. level crossings but also safety in terms of design and construction. Supervision of products is fulfilled in Poland by e.g. the Office of Railway Transport managing the safety and regulation of rail traffic. The paper presents industry security in terms of product as safety in design and production, in construction, in exploitation. Despite such extensive, multisector and multifaceted organizational, legal and technical safety structures in rail transport it is advisable to conduct further research into the analysis of the possibilities for improved safety. Also authors have assumed that for the improving of railway crossing safety level the support system for the traffic detection can be developed. To increase of the complex crossing safety level the support system has to be independent from current usage control devices, as axle counter block. Thus the paper presents concept of application of vibration wave propagation employing as source if information on train or car detection.
