    Zbadano możliwość zastosowania 5,10,15,20-tertrakis-[-4‒2-(3-pentadecylofenoksy)-etoksy]fenyloporfiryny, jako chemosensora akceptorów elektronów: HCl, TFA i BF3, w fazie stałej, w postaci cienkiej warstwy na nośniku szklanym oraz w fazie ciekłej w benzenie. W widmie UV-Vis chemosensora pod wpływem akceptora następują charakterystyczne zmiany w położeniu pasm, połączone ze zmianą barwy układów. Wskazuje to na dużą wrażliwość porfiryny na działanie badanych akceptorów.
    The possibility to use 5,10,15,20-tetrakis-[-4–2-(3-pentadecylphenoxy)-ethoxy]phenylporphyrin as a chemosensor for the detection of electron acceptors: HCl, TFA and BF3 in solid-phase in the form of thin film on glass carrier plate and in liquid phase in benzene. When chemosensor is under the influence of acceptor, the characteristic changes occur in the position of bands in its UV-VIS spectrum accompanied by the change of system colour. This indicates high sensitivity of porphyrin to action of studied acceptor systems.

    Nowadays, service providers offer a lot of IT services in the public or private cloud. Clients can buy various kinds of services, such as SaaS, PaaS, etc. Recently, Backup as a Service (BaaS), a variety of SaaS, was introduced there. At the moment, there are several different BaaS’s available to archive data in the cloud, but they provide only a basic level of service quality. In this paper, we propose a model which ensures QoS for BaaS and some methods for management of storage resources aimed at achieving the required SLA.This model introduces a set of parameters responsible for an SLA level which can be offered at the basic or higher level of quality. The storage systems (typically HSM), which are distributed between several Data Centers, are built based on disk arrays, VTL’s, and tape libraries. The RSMM model does not assume bandwidth reservation or control, but rather is focused on management of storage resources.

    This paper outlines the recent studies on the application of photocatalysis using semiconductors, with modified titanium dioxide (TiO2) in the process of reducing chemical contamination of surface and ground waters. During the last forty years, an increasing interest in catalysts of this type is noticeable. Hence, a wide range of methods of TiO2 modifications have been proposed so far by using its various polymorphs, composites with metals and non-metals and polymer-coatings or impregnating it with dyes that effectively absorb sunlight.

    Przedstawiono wyniki badań aktywności nowego typu fotokatalizatorów hybrydowych z matrycą TiO2 (anataz) impregnowaną diftalocyjaninami lantanowców (LnPc2), w procesie fotoutleniania 4-nitrofenolu w fazie wodnej. Stwierdzono, że w obecności odpowiedniego sensybilizatora ftalocyjaninowego szybkość degradacji 4-NP może zwiększyć się nawet 4-krotnie w porównaniu z czystym anatazem. Najbardziej efektywne były układy zawierające kompleksy Gd i Ho.
    Research results on the activity of novel hybrid photocatalysts with a TiO2 (anatase) matrix impregnated with lanthanide diphthalocyanines (LnPc2) in photooxidation of 4-nitrophenol in the water phase have been reported. It was found that in presence of an appropriate phthalocyanine sensitizer the degradation rate of 4-NP might have increased even four-fold, as compared to bareanatase. Systems containing complexes of Gd and Ho were the most effective ones.

    Opis:
    In this paper we describe a semi-automatic programming framework for supporting users with managing the deployment of distributed applications along with storing large amounts of data in order to maintain Quality of Service in highly dynamic and distributed environments, e.g., Grid. The Polish national PL-GRID project aims to provide Polish science with both hardware and software infrastructures which will allow scientists to perform complex simulations and in-silico experiments on a scale greater than ever before. We highlight the issues and challenges related to data storage strategies that arise at the analysis stage of user requirements coming from different areas of science. Next we present a solution to the discussed issues along with a description of sample usage scenarios. At the end we provide remarks on the current status of the implementation work and some results from the tests performed.
    Artykuł opisuje semiautomatyczny szkielet aplikacyjny służący do wsparcia procesu wdrażania aplikacji oraz składowania dużych ilości danych w środowiskach rozproszonych z uwzględnieniem parametrów jakościowych. Projekt PL-Grid ma na celu wsparcie polskiej nauki w celu umożliwienia naukowcom przeprowadzania złożonych eksperymentów typu in-silico na skalę wiekszą niż dotychczas. W artykule zostały opisane wyzwania związane ze strategiami zarządzania wielkimi ilościami danych, zdefiniowane w fazie analizowania wymagań użytkowników projektu PL-Grid. Zostały również opisane proponowane rozwiązania omawianych problemów, opis przykładowych scenariuszy użycia oraz aktualny stan prac implementacyjnych i rezultaty przeprowadzonych testów.

    In this paper we present the results of a two-year study aimed at developing a full-fledged computer environment supporting post-stroke rehabilitation. The system was designed by a team of computer scientists, psychologists and physiotherapists. It adopts a holistic approach to rehabilitation. In order to extend the rehabilitation process, the applied methods include a remote rehabilitation stage which can be carried out of at the patient’s home. The paper presents a distributed system architecture as well as results achieved by patients prior to and following a three-month therapy based on the presented system.

    There is high demand for storage related services supporting scientists in their research activities. Those services are expected to provide not only capacity but also features allowing for more exible and cost ecient usage. Such features include easy multiplatform data access, long term data retention, support for performance and cost dierentiating of SLA restricted data access. The paper presents a policy-based SLA storage management model for distributed data storage services. The model allows for automated management of distributed data aimed at QoS provisioning with no strict resource reservation. The problem of providing users with the required QoS requirements is complex, and therefore the model implements heuristic approach for solving it. The corresponding system architecture, metrics and methods for SLA focused storage management are developed and tested in a real, nationwide environment.     Opis:
    Hybrid catalysts based on the TiO2 matrix impregnated with Nd, Eu and Yb diphthalocyanines proved effective in oxidation of sulfite ions under irradiation with light from the UV-visible range. Micro- and nano-crystalline anatase powders were used in preparation of the photocatalysts, which were applied in the form of a suspension in the water phase. The reaction yield was found to depend on the phthalocyanine sensitizer used and the conditions of TiO2 impregnation. The best results were obtained when micro-anatase impregnated with Yb-diphthalocyanine was used

Poruszane zagadnienia dotyczą opracowania warstwy pośredniej infrastruktury rozproszonej i gridowej dla potrzeb obliczeń o dużym nakładzie z zakresu eScience i aplikacji biznesowych, rozwoju i efektywnej implementacji rozproszonych algorytmów z zakresu biotechnologii i zastosowań medycznych, jak również metod i implementacji ontologicznej reprezentacji wiedzy i algorytmów rozwoju bazy wiedzy la potrzeb tworzenia organizacji wirtualnych w zakresie wspomagania obliczeń i zwiększenia ich elastyczności w wymienionych obszarach problemowych.
    Some main results of the research recently obtained by Computer Systems Group of the Department of Computer Science are presented in the paper. They are supported by descriptions of future plans and further development. The achievements include architecture of grid middleware for high performance computing and business applications, tools for grid computing, parallel algorithms for mezoscopic simulations and clustering, ontological representation and management of knowledge as well as virtual organizations.

    The EU Pellucid project is developing an experience management system for public organizations with staff mobility. The paper presents an activity whitin the project focused on searching for information in repositories of documents. The project's background and the process of information searching are described. Ontological methods such as semantic annotation and similarity searching, as well as ontology- and full-text-based searching are presented. Monitoring of organizational repositories is discussed.

    Traditional data storage systems provide access to user’s data on the "best effort" basis. While this paradigm is sufficient in many use cases it becomes an obstacle for applications with Quality of Service (QoS) constraints. Service Level Agreement (SLA) is a part of the contract agreed between the service provider and the client and contains a set of well defined QoS requirements regarding the provided service and the penalties applied in case of violations. In the paper we propose a set of SLA parameters and QoS metrics relevant to data storage processes and the management methods necessary for avoiding SLA violations. A key assumption in the proposed approach is that the underlying distributed storage system does not provide functionality for resource or bandwidth reservation for a given client request.

    This paper describes a programming toolkit developed in the PL-Grid project, named QStorMan, which supports storage QoS provisioning for data-intensive applications in distributed environments. QStorMan exploits knowledgeoriented methods for matching storage resources to non-functional requirements, which are defined for a data-intensive application. In order to support various usage scenarios, QStorMan provides two interfaces, such as programming libraries or a web portal. The interfaces allow to define the requirements either directly in an application source code or by using an intuitive graphical interface. The first way provides finer granularity, e.g., each portion of data processed by an application can define a different set of requirements. The second method is aimed at legacy applications support, which source code can not be modified. The toolkit has been evaluated using synthetic benchmarks and the production infrastructure of PL-Grid, in particular its storage infrastructure, which utilizes the Lustre file system.

    The ATLAS detector, recording LHC particles' interactions, produces events with rate of 40 MHz and size of 1.6 MB. The processes with new and interesting physics phenomena are very rare, thus an efficient on-line filtering system (trigger) is necessary. The asynchronous part of that system relays on few thousands of computing nodes running the filtering software. Applying refined filtering criteria results in increase of processing times what may lead to lack of processing resources installed on CERN site. We propose extension to this part of the system based on submission of the real-time filtering tasks into the Grid.
    Detektor ATLAS, rejestrujący zderzenia protonów rozpędzanych w zderzaczu LHC, będzie generował przypadki o rozmiarze 1.6MB z częstotliwością 40MHz. Aby wyselekcjonować bardzo rzadko występujące przypadki z interesującymi oddziaływaniami fizycznymi, konieczne będzie zastosowanie wydajnego systemu filtracji (trigger). Część asynchroniczna takiego systemu wykorzystuje kilka tysięcy komputerów, na których wykonywane jest oprogramowanie filtrujące. Zwiększenie selektywności systemu wymaga zwiększenia czasu procesowania, co może doprowadzić do wyczerpania zasobów komputerowych zainstalowanych w CERN-ie. Proponujemy rozszerzenie tej części systemu poprzez umożliwienie wykonywania oprogramowania filtrującego w czasie rzeczywistym na komputerach w środowisku gridowym.

    Opis:
    Main goal of the paper is to present the algorithm serving to solve the heat conduction inverse problem. Authors consider the heat conduction equation with the Riemann-Liouville fractional derivative and with the second and third kind boundary conditions. This type of model with fractional derivative can be used for modelling the heat conduction in porous media. Authors deal with the heat conduction inverse problem, which, in this case, consists in identifying an unknown thermal conductivity coefficient. Measurements of temperature, in selected point of the region, are the input data for investigated inverse problem. Basing on this information, a functional describing the error of approximate solution is created. Minimizing of this functional is necessary to solve the inverse problem. In the presented approach the Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) algorithm is used for minimization.

    In this text a new property of geometric nature of the Chebyshev polynomials is given. It is proven that the lengths of diagonals of a regular n-gon with the side of length equal to one are the sums of positive roots of the respective renormalized Chebyshev polynomials of one from among four types. Some new special decompositions of differences of values of the Chebyshev polynomials are also presented.

    Praca dotyczy modelowania przetworników logiki binarnej na logikę trójwartościową i czterowartościową. Podano przykładowe rozwiązanie zagadnienia wyznaczenia zależności opisującej stan logiczny jednego z wyjść przetwornika logiki binarnej na logikę wielowartościową (synteza układu logicznego). Analizę wykonano na platformie pakietu Mathematica. W pracy zastosowano automatyczną, programową filtrację możliwych rozwiązań na postać funkcji logicznych opisujących stan wyjścia przetworników w odniesieniu do przyjętych kryteriów wyboru. Na podstawie uzyskanych wyników w programie oraz wzoru ogólnego na stan logiczny drugiego wyjścia przetwornika przedstawiono przykładowy teoretyczny model przetwornika sygnałów logiki dwuwartościowej na trójwartościową i czterowartościową (2/3, 2/4) dla dowolnych poziomów napięciowych sygnałów logicznych. Wykonano symulacje przetworników w programie SPICE dla modeli idealnych i rzeczywistych. W modelu przetworników wykorzystano wielowejściowe napięciowe wzmacniacze operacyjne, jako układy sumujące i różnicowe.
    The paper deals with the modeling of converters of binary to ternary and quaternary logics. En exemplary solution of determining the relation describing the logical state of one of outputs of the converter of binary logics to multivalue logics has been quoted, i.e. the synthesis of a logical system. The analysis was performed on the platform of the software Mathematica. An automatic program filtration of possible solutions of logical functions was applied, describing output states of converters in compliance with the accepted criteria of the proper choice. Basing on the obtained results in this program and on the general formula concerning the logical state of the other output of the converter an exemplary theoretical model of the converter of signals of binary to ternary and quaternary logics has been presented (2/3 and 2/4) concerning any arbitrary voltage level of logical signals. Simulations of converters in the SPICE program have been performed for ideal and real models. In the model of the converters multi-input voltage amplifiers have been applied, operating as adding and subtracting signal systems.

    The series representing the generalizations of classical James Gregory's series are discussed in this paper. Formulae describing sums of these series are found. A number of applications of obtained formulae are also presented, among others, in receiving the generalizations of Gregory-Leibniz-Nilakantha formula. Moreover, the sums of series of differences of odd harmonic numbers are generated.

    In the paper we present an application of the homotopy analysis method for solving the two-phase inverse Stefan problem. In the proposed approach a series is created, having elements which satisfy some differential equation following from the investigated problem. We reveal, in the paper, that if this series is convergent then its sum determines the solution of the original equation. A sufficient condition for this convergence is formulated. Moreover, the estimation of the error of the approximate solution, obtained by taking the partial sum of the considered series, is given. Additionally, we present an example illustrating an application of the described method.

    W artykule opisano rozwiązanie dwuwymiarowego niestacjonarnego zagadnienia przewodzenia ciepła przy wykorzystaniu homotopijnej metody analizy. W metodzie tej tworzony jest szereg funkcyjny. Podano warunek wystarczający zbieżności tego szeregu, a także oszacowanie błędu rozwiązania przybliżonego, które uzyskujemy, biorąc sumę częściową szeregu.
    In this paper a solution of the two-dimensional unsteady heat transfer problem by using the homotopy analysis method is described. In presented method the functional series is generated. This paper contains the sufficient condition for convergence of this series. We also give the estimation of error of the approximate solution obtained by taking the partial sum of received series.

    Podano przykładowe rozwiązanie zagadnienia wyznaczenia zależności opisującej stan logiczny jednego z wyjść przetwornika logiki binarnej na logikę wielowartościową (synteza układu logicznego). Analizę wykonano na platformie pakietu Mathematica. Przedstawiono funkcjonalny schemat blokowy użytego programu. Na podstawie uzyskanych wyników w programie oraz wzoru ogólnego na stan logiczny drugiego wyjścia przetwornika przedstawiono przykładowy teoretyczny model przetwornika sygnałów logiki dwuwartościowej na ośmiowartościową (2/8), dla dowolnych poziomów napięciowych sygnałów logicznych. Wykonano symulacje przetwornika w programie SPICE dla układu idealnego. Zaproponowano realizację przetwornika sygnałów logicznych dwuwartościowych na ośmiowartościowe z zastosowaniem dwóch napięciowych wzmacniaczy operacyjnych (działających jako sumatory). Układ przetwornika zrealizowano praktycznie. Wyniki testów przetwornika 2/8 przedstawiono na oscylogramach.
    The paper deals with application of the sum conjunction method in Mathematica software to determination of logic state of one of the multivalued logic converter outputs. Basing on the results of the mathematical modeling and using the general equation for the second converter output, a theoretical model of the binary to eight-state logic (2/8) converter for arbitrary levels of the logic signal voltage is proposed. The general scheme of the converter is also presented in the paper. The two-state to eight-state-logic converter practical realization with use of two multiple input voltage operational amplifiers is proposed. In the converter these operational amplifiers works as adders. The converter output signals are obtained from simulations. The simulations were performed when assuming the single-pole role-off characteristic of the amplifier. The converter of logic signals (2/8) was practically constructed and tested. The investigation results are shown on oscillograms. The converter works correctly within the frequency range up to 20 kHz. For higher frequencies of the input signal there are observed distortions of the output signal because of parasitic capacitances.

    In this paper an application of the homotopy perturbation method for solving the general linear integral equations of the second kind is discussed. It is shown that under proper assumptions the considered equation possesses a unique solution and the series obtained in the homotopy perturbation method is convergent. The error of approximate solution, received by taking only the partial sum of the series, is also estimated. Moreover, there is presented an example of applying the method for approximate solution of an equation which has a practical application for charge calculation in supply circuit of the flash lamps used in cameras.
