Opis:
Jan Duklan Michnar belonged to the most outstanding fathers of the Blessed Virgin Mary Immaculate Conception Order of Friars Minor Province in the 20th century Poland. He was recognized as a great preacher and a prolific feature writer who left a considerable amount of literacy works. This article’s author aimed at showing Jan Duklan Michnar’s profile and to discuss some of his religious publications, as well as his numerous homiletic works whose typescripts are deposited in the Province Archives in Kraków. Jan Duklan Michnar was a well-educated specialist in Polish studies, whose passion was general history. After graduation, he was directed to the Serafic College in Radecznica, where he was a Polish language and history lecturer, being the College director at the same time. Jan Duklan’s articles written to Franciscan magazines can be divided into two groups: the first one created in the years of 1923 – 1939 and the second one created in the years of 1956–1966. The keynote of the first group articles was emphasizing the Franciscan and tertiary ideas as well as a widely recognized spiritual-moral background of the readers, who were ley people in their majority. In 1956 Father Duklan’s articles started to appear in ‘Serafic Youth’ (‘Młodzież Seraficka’) and in ‘Vita Provinciae’. Those were mainly his reminiscenses written on various anniversaries celebrated in the Province or to familiarize the young generation with the Observants monks, important events or significant persons. Father Jan Duklan left over thirteen volumes of sermons and homiletic works which can be regarded as his preaching activity and his priesthood summary. His homiletic works were mainly based on Marian teaching.

Opis:
Kalwaria Zebrzydowska is the second, most significant Passion-Marian Sanctuary in Poland after Częstochowa. It has become widely known not only in Europe, but all over the world, thanks to Holy Father – John Paul II – who visited it twice: in 1979 and 2002. In its first part, the present article brings readers closer to this unique place by presenting its history and its significance in shaping religious behaviors of the Polish society. In the second part of the article, the author showed the bonds between John Paul II and Kalwaria, which is now more and more often called „Papal Kalwaria”. This part contains also excerpts of the Pope's speech of 1979 and His homily during the Holy Mass of August 19, 2002, as the most vividly showing those specific, emotional bonds connecting Holy Father with Kalwaria Zebrzydowska.

Opis:
The present article deals with the issue of religious education and its meaning for a contemporary Polish family. The author focused on the crisis in a Polish family, which is mainly due to abandoning God and His commandments. Yet, he points out that children, youth and adults’ religious education is a great help for families. Thanks to it, people can create a suitable hierarchy of values, which will help in versatile development of both adolescent and adult man. Religious education should be first directed to parents themselves, as their children’s faith develops on the ground of their faith. Another important factor is the fact that some people got incomplete religious education in their childhood, and being adult, they need to transform their traditional religiousness into a conscious one. Moreover, the adult need help in problems appearing at different life stages. The author reminds that the religious education for parents should take care of spiritual background ( sacramental life), doctrinal background ( faith broadening), as well as physical background (health care and relax). Such religious education should take into account their faith extent. Thus, it ought to be run on different levels, such as: reevangelization, faith and religious knowledge development and preparing to missionary activity.

Opis:
The Bernardines, as one of the Minor Brothers Order provinces, were founded in 1453 as a result of St. John Kapistran’s activity in Cracow. They focused mainly on pastoral work among low and middle social classes. Their activity was realized by celebrating Holy Masses and services, administering holy sacraments, preaching the word of God and leading the Tertiary Order for lay people, fraternities and religious associations. The historical events, which were described as a ‘national bondage’, made the monks start their educational and social work in numerous Bernardine schools whose total number was close to 45. Most of those schools were elementary, only 10 were the secondary ones. This article presents the secondary schools in the Bernardines’ Lithuanian Province, namely the schools in Traszkuny, Datnów, Telsze, Mścisław and Bienica. The author’s aim was to show the activity of those schools with a special focus on their curricula and educational methods.

Father Stefan Podworski stood out as a fervent priest with excellent organizational abilities. He was also a brilliant preacher with a strong, beautiful voice. Father Podworski worked in two monasteries: in Kalwaria Zebrzydowska and Alwernia. He rendered especially great services during preparations to the coronation of a miraculous painting of Kalwarian Blessed Virgin, which took place in 1887. Later, Father Podworski was very keen in spreading Her worship.
