Opis:: Celem artykułu jest zastanowienie się nad sensem, charakterem i uwarunko-waniami szeroko pojętych innowacji w kontekście postępu technologicznego, procesów globalizacji oraz innych czynników innowacyjności. Nowość należy rozpatrywać w odniesieniu do takich motorów napędowych jak: zmiana, roz-wój, ewolucja, mutacja, tworzenie, wzrost, modernizacja, reforma, rewolucja, postęp, odkrycie, imitacja, inwencja, intuicja, poznanie, idea, wyobraźnia. Ko-niecznym jest także wzięcie pod uwagę charakteru danego regionu, a więc historii, czynnika ludzkiego, infrastruktury, roli państwa, a także lub przede wszystkim konsekwencji przyjmowanego modelu innowacyjności i/lub moder-nizacji. Warto spojrzeć otwarcie na kwestię kształtującego się kierunku rozwoju metropolii/miast jutra.
The aim of this article is to study the meaning, nature and determinants of innovation in the context of technological progress, globalization and other supporting factors. Novelty should be considered in relation to driving forces such as change, development, evolution, mutation, creation, growth, moderni-zation, reform, revolution, progress, discovery, imitation, invention, intuition, knowledge, idea, imagination. It is also necessary to take into account the na-ture of the region: its history, human factors, infrastructure, the role of the state, as well as the consequences of adopted models of innovation and / or modernization processes. Also, an unflinching look at new forces and direc-tions shaping tomorrow’s metropolises/cities.

Opis:: This paper offers an interdisciplinary perspective on the meaning of emotion in politics. Politics will be understood as a people’s ability to live together. The author is a ranging synthesis of social sciences, psychology, biology and neuroscience for better illustration of issues of populism and other forms of social engagement. The paper is in the form of bringing the topics of emotions as a compass of our common human behavioural political make-up. Using the landscape metaphor allows for exploring the complete divergence of human emotions, sunny peaks of empathy, altruism, trust and dark shadowed valleys of fear, anger and distrust. In this manner, some explanation for populist behaviour is given. Collecting various sources of data is offered to experiment with varied forms of narrative and finally to discuss the findings but also to articulate an “emotional” call to collective kindness.

Opis:: A main goal of this essay is the analysis of the contemporary phase of evolution of European “organism” by using approaches from political science and neuroscience. The transdisciplinary perspective allows for better understanding of finer points of human behavior which can be lost only in political science analysis. My simple and obvious assumption is that politics is about people. Human beings create groups, communities, etc. If it is so, maybe we should start with looking more closely into mechanisms of the most important part of ourselves. The brain. It is responsible for all human behaviour. Another crucial point is the connection between humans and environment. The concept of co-evolution is fundamental and very useful when we want to show intertwining relations between interiority (brain, body) and externality (behaviour, social and political structures). Europe may be the very context for this analysis, but it is most of all our humanity.
