    At the turn of 20th and 21st century, Spain was one of target countries of earning immigration not only in the European Union, but in the entire world as well. This paper aims at analyzing the influence of immigration on the dynamics of Spanish GDP in the context of its direct influence on the level of productivity, employment rate, as well as the demographic factor that results from the share of working foreigners in the creation of national income, and the indirect impact resulting from its influence on, among other things, functioning of the labor market through mobility or occupational activity, as well as on changes in the volume of demand notified in the economy. Next, we are going to present the influence of immigration on condition and standing of public finance against the background of revenues generated by foreigners and public expenditures borne on immigrated population. Due to the size of this paper and difficult availability of data, the analysis will cover the country as a whole, disregarding regional differences

    For many years Spain has been one of the EU countries with the highest child poverty risk rates. Since the beginning of 1990s child monetary poverty rate has remained at the level of 24–25 per cent, thus being higher than for the overall population. Although Spain recorded high economic growth in years 2002–2007, the lack of changes in social policy towards children and families prevented any improvements in the situation. The ongoing economic crisis has worsened the poverty indicators for children comparing to other age groups and has progressed the process of deterioration of the situation of families with children, especially single-parent families. This article aims to present the ways of measuring the child poverty and social exclusion in Spain, taking into account methodological problems and complexity, and showing the need for multidimensional approach. Features characteristic of child poverty and social exclusion in Spain in comparison with other EU countries i.e. high chronic poverty as well as recurrent and long-term transitory poverty are highlighted. Special attention was paid to children from immigrant background, who were found to be more vulnerable.

    Praca prezentuje przegląd literatury w zakresie zastosowania grafenu i jego pochodnych do potencjalnej ochrony przed mikroflorą bakteryjną. Poruszono zagadnienia związane z próbą wyjaśnienia mechanizmów oddziaływania grafenu i jego pochodnych: tlenku grafenu (GO) oraz zredukowanego tlenku grafenu (rGO) na komórki bakteryjne. Porównano działanie poszczególnych form węgla na komórki Gram(+) i Gram(-), uwzględniając stężenie preparatów, rodzaj pożywki hodowlanej, a także podłoże, na którym osadzono grafen. Omówiono zagadnienia związane z powstawaniem wolnych form tlenowych (ROS), efekt ostrej krawędzi, tworzenie biofilmu oraz potencjalne zastosowania grafenu jako powłoki antybakteryjnej.
    The work presents a literature review on the use of graphene and its derivatives as the potential protection against bacterial microflora. Addressed issues relate to an attempt to explain the mechanisms of impact of graphene and its derivatives: graphene oxide (GO) and reduced graphene oxide (rGO) on the bacterial cells. Interaction of graphene materials (G, GO, rGO) with Gram(+) and Gram(-) were compared with regard to the concentration of the preparations, the nature of the culture medium and surface of graphene deposition. Issues related to the development of reactive oxygen species (ROS) were discussed, the effect of sharp edges of GM’s (nano-knife), biofilm formation and the potential application of graphene in nanomedicine.

    Porphyrin photosensitizers tend to localize in mitochondria. The depolarization of mitochondrial membrane is one of the early stages of apoptosis and Laser Scanning Fluorescence Microscopy allows to determine changes in transmembrane mitochondrial potential under influence of PDT depending on the kind of photosensitizer (PP(Arg)2, Hp(Arg)2), the energy dose (5, 10, 30 and 50 J/cm2) and time periods (24 and 48 hours after irradiation) in the LNCaP (lymphonodal metastasis of prostate carcinoma, the androgen dependent cell line). Cyototoxicity induced by PP(Arg)2- and Hp(Arg)2-based PDT depending on energy dose and time after irradiation in prostate carcinoma is determined with MTT. Generally, it was shown that lower energy doses induce greater changes in transmembrane mitochondrial potential. Hp(Arg)2-based PDT was more effective causing greater mitochondrial membrane depolarization and cell viability decrease in comparison to PP(Arg)2-mediated PDT (in the case of maximal nontoxic photosensitizer doses used).

    Opis:
    Simple methods for detection and isolation of protein-porphyrin complexes were elaborated in our laboratory. They are based on the separation of protein-porphyrin complexes in native polyacrylamide gel and measurement of their fluorescence, with the use of two detection systems: the commercially available Gel DocTM 2000 system, and a system specially designed for the purpose of these investigations, concerning protein-porphyrin interactions. The fluorescent complexes can be electro-transferred from the gel onto PVDF membrane, eluted and analyzed in order to identify the protein interacting with porphyrins.
