    The two-dimensional contact problem of elasticity connected with an indentation of a rigid cylinder in an elastic semi-space covered by an elastic layer is considered. The detailed analysis of the stress distribution produced by contact pressures and tangential forces is presented. The obtained results for stresses are compared with ones obtained within the framework of theory of elasticity for a half-space loaded by the Hertz pressure.
    Rozpatrzono dwuwymiarowe zagadnienie kontaktowe teorii sprężystości dotyczące wciskania nieodkształcalnego walca w półprzestrzeń sprężystą pokrytą sprężystą warstwą. Przeprowadzono szczegółową analizę rozkładu naprężeń wywołanego naciskami kontaktowymi i powiązanymi z nimi siłami tarcia. Otrzymane wyniki porównano z wynikami, które otrzymuje się w zagadnieniu teorii sprężystości dotyczącym obciążenia powierzchni rozpatrywanej półprzestrzeni niejednorodnej naciskami Hertza.

    Opis:
    The paper presents the design of a manipulator for servicing the elements of water and sewage infrastructure, in particular for installation and dismantling of pressure transducers without the need for earthmoving. To build this device the resilient elements, cold shaped, responsible for centering the manipulator in the technical tube were used. In their construction a method was applied of estimating the value of residual stresses in the cold shaped material, based on measurements of instrumental hardness. The experimental verification of numerical simulation of instrumental hardness measurements of flat springs made of 1.1274 steel is described.

    Praca dotyczy zagadnienia wyznaczania współczynników intensywności naprężenia KI dla płaskiej dwuwymiarowej szczeliny tunelowej w przestrzeni sprężystej, w przypadku obciążenia powierzchni szczeliny dowolnym ciśnieniem normalnym. Stosując metodę osobliwych równań całkowych i techniki numeryczne, wyznaczono współczynnik KI wzdłuż obu frontów szczeliny, której obie powierzchnie są obciążone parą sił skupionych P. Otrzymano numeryczne rozwiązania i porównano je z innymi przybliżonymi wyrażeniami KI znanymi z literatury.
    The present paper deals with determination of stress intensity factors KI for a plane two-dimensional tunnel crack in elastic space when both crack faces are subjected to any normal pressure. Using the method of singular integral equations and numerical techniques Green’s function was also obtained, which makes it possible to calculate values of stress intensity factors KI at any point along both crack fronts. Approximate analytical solutions of high accuracy were found. Numerical values of KI were compared with other solutions known from the literature, obtained by different authors.

    Rozpatrzono wybrane zagadnienia kontaktowe teorii sprężystości dotyczące wciskania nieodkształcalnego stempla w półprzestrzeń niejednorodną. Rozpatrywana półprzestrzeń składa się z półprzestrzeni jednorodnej oraz pakietu n izotropowych jednorodnych warstw. Algorytm rozwiązywania, oparty na wykorzystaniu przekształceń całkowych, zweryfikowano, modelując ośrodki warstwowe o strukturze periodycznej oraz warstwy, których moduł Younga zmienia się wzdłuż grubości według zależności wykładniczej.
    Selected issues of contact theory of elasticity for pressing the rigid punch in non-homogeneous half-space are considered. Half-space consists of homogeneous half-space and a package of n isotropic homogeneous layers. Algorithm of calculation was based on integral transformation and was verified by modeling the layered bodies by periodic layers or layers, which the Young’s module is changed along the thickness of the layer with the exponential dependence.

    Scientific objective of this work was elaboration of radiometric method for the development of hydrometallurgical process for recovery of Cu from the copper ore. A neutron activation analysis (NAA) was identified as a very convenient tool for the process investigation. The samples of copper ore were activated in a nuclear reactor. The parameters of the neutron activation were calculated. Radioisotope 64Cu was selected as an optimal tracer, and it was used for the investigation of the leaching process. During the experiments, various processes applying leaching media such as sulphuric acid, nitric acid, and organic acids were investigated. The recovery of the metals using sulphuric acid was insufficient, around 10%. Investigated organic media also did not meet expectations. The best results were obtained in experiments with nitric acid. Up to 90% of Cu and other metals were extracted from the copper ore. Copper concentration calculations obtained by NAA were confimed by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) technique. Both techniques gave comparable results, but the advantage of the NAA is a possibility for easy online measurements without shutting down or disturbing the system.

    The use of radiotracers in the present study is intended to replace traditional steps of metal quantitative analysis (solution sampling and instrumental chemical analysis) and to allow real-time measurements of metal concentrations during the leaching process. In this study, 64Cu, an isotope of copper, was selected as a radiotracer. Samples of copper flotation tailings were irradiated in the Maria research reactor (Świerk, Poland) and mixed with an inactive portion of the milled flotation waste. The leaching process was carried out in a glass reactor, and the radiation spectrum was measured using a gamma spectrometer. The material was then treated using various acids (sulphuric acid, nitric acid, acetic acid, citric acid, and ascorbic acid) in a wide range of their concentrations. Experiments with the radiotracer were conducted in sulphuric and nitric acids. The amount of the leached metal (copper) was calculated on the basis of the peak area ratio in the gamma-ray spectrum of the activated tailings and standard samples. Inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) was also used to analyse the metal content. Maximum recovery of 56% Cu was achieved using 9 M HNO3, whereas the recovery was lowest for ascorbic acid (1%). Both analytical methods were compared, and the results presented in this paper are in good agreement with radiometric measurements obtained using ICP-MS analysis.

    Część 1 badanego obszaru tematycznego zawiera wyniki badań wstępnych – metodycznych. Cz. 2 ogólnie opisuje podstawowy obszar tematyczny: wyniki badań właściwości smarnych dodatków estrowych CHO (węgiel, wodór, tlen): butynianu metylu i dekanianu metylu w komponentach oleju napędowego z hydrokrakingu o zawartości siarki poniżej 5 ppm. Badania te wykonano dla próbek strumieni surowcowych i cieczy wzorcowej – n-heksadekan – w funkcji stężenia dodatków. Badania AFM z rozdzielczością poniżej 1nm pozwoliły na ocenę topologii powierzchni po procesie tarcia oraz określenie zakresu zmienności grubości tworzonej warstwy polimerów tarcia. Część 3 opracowania zawiera wyniki badań słabo poznanej grupy dodatków (CHO) ketonów. Pracę wykonano wg programu badań estrów, co pozwala na łatwe porównanie wyników badań. Oceniono też wpływ długości łańcucha ketonu na smarność. Niniejsze opracowanie skupia się na relacji oceny stanu powierzchni uzyskanej metodami instrumentalnymi, jak: AFM, Auger, XPS i SIMS wyników badań smarności grupy dodatków (CHO) – estrów i ketonów. Praca również ogólnie podsumowuje uzyskane wyniki badań zakresu tematycznego, wskazuje problemy i zagadnienia badawcze.
    Part 1 of the investigated subject field contains the initial methodical results. Part 2 generally describes basis of the thematic area: findings of the tribological proprieties of ester additives CHO (carbon, hydrogen, oxygen): methyl butyrate and methyl decanoate in components of the hydrocracked or hydrotreated base diesel oil, containing sulphur below 5 ppm. This research was executed for samples of streams of raw material and standard liquid – n-hexadecane – in the function of the additive concentration. Research using an AFM apparatus with the resolution below 1 nm allowed estimating surface topology after the friction process and qualification of the range of the variability of the created layer thickness of the film products, assumed to be friction polymers. Other methods include research of instrumental (AES, XPS, SIMS) fragments super frictions progress. Part 3: Base fuels of two producers and n-hexadecane were used as solvents to test the effect of four ketones at different treatment rates. The influence of such CHO ketone type additives on streams and/or fractions of hydrocarbon fuels is not exactly defined as yet. In the article, we introduced research results of surface investigation with the instrumental methods: AFM, Auger, XPS and SIMS in relation to lubrication proprieties of selected additives CHO – esters and ketone (carbon, hydrogen and oxygen) in the hydrocracked or hydrotreated base diesel fuels, containing sulphur below 5 ppm.
