In this paper, we introduce new concepts of aging for lifetime distributions. The main idea is the comparison between reversed mean residual life of the random variables X and (X − t | X > t), for all t > 0. Firstly, with some examples, we highlight the role of the proposed aging classes in reliability and life testing. Then, we try to find the connection between the new aging classes and other aging classes well-known from the literature. Reliability properties of the new classes are studied. Formally, we derive the preservation property under monotonic transformations. Some Rother characterization and implications are studied.

Comparison between deformation modulus of rock mass measured by plate jacking and dilatometer tests. For determination of the in-situ deformation modulus of rock mass at Bakhtiari Dam site, located in south-west of Iran, plate jacking tests (PJT) and dilatometer tests (DLT) carried out during the geotechnical investigations. In this study, the results of PJTs and DLTs were compared. This comparison involves 89 vertical and horizontal PJTs and 83 DLTs carried out in 6 rock units of Sarvak formation. Although, both PJTs and DLTs in the Bakhtiari Dam site were performed in same geological and geotechnical conditions, but there are not sufficient side by side data to make a paired two samples correlation. Therefore, the mean of in-situ data was compared at each rock unit. Besides Mann–Whitney U tests were performed to compare in-situ test results. The comparison shows that the deformation modulus measured by both methods has no significant differences. However, in low quality rock masses the moduli measured by the use of DLTs were greater than the modulus measured by PJTs. Conversely, in high quality rock masses the results of PJTs were greater than DLT’s.

Citrus bacterial canker (CBC) is one of the most important diseases of citrus. It is caused by Xanthomonas citri subsp. citri (Xcc). To investigate the variability of Xcc, a collection of twenty-five strains were isolated from the Fars, Hormozgan, Kerman and Sistan-va-Baluchestan provinces of Iran. The twenty-five strains were assessed phenotypically and genetically. These strains had similar biochemical properties. Based on host range determination, the strains were divided into two groups; the first group was pathogenic on Mexican lime (Citrus aurantifolia), citrumelo (Poncirus trifoliata x C. paradisi), citrange (C. sinensis x P. trifoliata) and sour orange (C. aurantium) varieties. The second group was pathogenic on Mexican lime only. Profile of cellular soluble proteins analyzed by sodium dodecyl sulphate-polyacryamid gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) did not reveal any considerable differences among strains. Genetic diversity analyses were performed using two marker systems; repetitive polymerase chain reaction (rep-PCR) and random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD). The results of this research showed that two primers, ERIC 1R and 232, with the highest marker index, resulted in the most genetic variability among strains. Cluster analysis by band patterns showed that strains from the Sistan-va-Baluchestan province were a different group, so it was concluded that geographical origin of strains from the Sistan-va-Baluchestan province is different than the geographical origin of strains isolated from other provinces.

Mulberry (Morus alba L.) is an ornamental, medicinal, and fruit plant that belongs to the Moraceae family. One of the most important techniques used in plant biotechnology is tissue culture, which enables mass production of pathogen-free plants. Cotyledon has a high potential for shoot regeneration; however, to the best of our knowledge, there are no reports on plant regeneration from cotyledon explants of mulberry. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the potential of seedling-derived cotyledon segments to obtain shoot multiplication of mulberry. Various concentrations (0, 0.25, 0.5, 1, 2, 3, and 4 mg/l) of thidiazuron (TDZ) in combination with indole butyric acid (IBA) were used in a completely randomized design in three replications. The results showed that the highest percentage of regeneration frequency (96.67%) and the maximum number of shoots (4.43) were obtained on Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium supplemented with 0.25 mg/l TDZ and 0.025 mg/l IBA. In the rooting experiment, the maximum rooting percentage (83.33%) and the maximum number of roots per shoot (4.36) were obtained on MS medium containing 2 mg/l IBA. In vitro-raised plantlets were placed in pots and kept in room temperature for 30 days, and the plantlets showed more than 90% survival rate. On the basis of our results, the protocol described in this study has a high potential to be used in the micropropagation of this valuable plant.

Piezoelectric actuators are widely used in micromanipulation tasks such as atomic force microscopy and cell manipulation. However, the hysteresis nonlinearity and the creep reduce their fidelity and cause difficulties in the micromanipulation control procedure. Besides, variation of temperature and external loads could change the model parameters identified for the piezo actuator. In this paper, a novel feedforward-feedback controller is proposed. The modified Prandtl-Ishlinskii model is utilized to linearize the actuator hysteresis in feedforward scheme and a sliding mode based impedance control with perturbation estimation is used to cancel out the thermal and external load disturbances in feedback scheme. The efficiency of the proposed controller is verified by experiments.

Badanie to ma na celu poszukiwanie miedzi i złota z perspektywicznych obszarów w Saveh na arkuszu 1:100 000, położonego w pasie magmowym w Urumieh-Dokhtar (Centralny Iran). System informacji geograficznej (GIS) jest skuteczny w rozpoznaniu przypuszczalnych zasobów surowców mineralnych poprzez gromadzenie, przetwarzanie warstwy ważenia poszukiwań i integracji map tematycznych. W celu uzyskania właściwych wyników dla potrzeb określenia potencjalnych obszarów do eksploatacji, użyto techniki modelowania i zintegrowanej informacji o warstwach geologicznych. W tym badaniu została użyta metoda wskaźnikowa, która jest kombinacją komputerowego sposobu przetwarzania danych i wiedzy eksperckiej. Many species of animals play the role of intermediate host for Neospora caninum. Although the neosporosis has a global distribution, however there is no information on goats’ infection in Iran. The main goal of present study was to determine the seroprevalence of N. caninum in goats of western Iran. A total of 450 sera were taken and analyzed for antibodies to N. caninum using ELISA technique. Of those, 28 (6.2%) examined goats were found to be seropositive (95%, CI=6.2±2.2%). In which male goats (11.1%) had the highest IgG against N. caninum with more than 2 years-old (54.4%). There was significant difference between prevalence and age. Positive association were in animals with history of abortion (18/30, 60%) and IgG against N. caninum. No correlations were found between male and female. This was the first report on N. caninum infection in Iranian goats and may be responsible for abortion and economic losses in goat husbandry in the region.

Magnetic Fe3O4@polycitric acid (Fe3O4@PCA) nanoparticles were prepared by the reaction of Fe3O4 nanoparticles with an excess amount of citric acid at 100-160 °C. The magnetic Fe3O4@PCA nanoparticles were characterized by infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscope (SEM), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA) and powder X-ray diffraction (XRD). Finally, the synthesized magnetic Fe3O4@PCA nanoparticles were used as a heterogeneous solid acid catalyst for the synthesis of HBIW from benzylamine and glyoxal in acetonitrile-water solvent under ultrasonic irradiation conditions. The catalyst could be reused up to 6 times without significant loss of activity.
