    Opis:
    The article deals with the basis that human potential development is the most valuable resource of any society. Empirical research has been carried out to determine what expenditures and population opinion influence the formation of the human potential. The author’s definitione of “modernization of the human potential” has been suggested. The impact of income and expenditure of the household on the qualitative improvement of human potential was examined. It was established that education is the most important component of human development which provides wider choices for a person, shaping the quality of life. Implementing the method of facilitating as a basic tool of informal education was determined to be one of the directions of modernization of the educational system in Ukraine. It has been proved that overcoming negative effects in the employment sphere, improvement of the wage policy, and the development of social infrastructure are the priorities of sustainable development of within a region.

    This paper examines the role of educational support in social entrepreneurship development in Poland and Ukraine based on comparative case studies and a computer-assisted web interviewing method. The research investigates cross-country and cross-institutional differences in education concerning social entrepreneurship. The paper considers the different levels of social entrepreneurship education in primary and secondary school, university, and non-formal education. It is established that students at all levels of education should have an entrepreneurial mindset, which is a prerequisite for sustainable development. The key directions for developing education regarding social entrepreneurship in Ukraine are identified.

    The aim of the article is to characterize the level of the region’s diversification according to the cultural component of social infrastructure based on grouped statistical indicators. This paper uses Perkal’s synthetic ratio method to characterize the level of cultural infrastructure development in Ukrainian and Polish regions. The analysis, conducted between 2010 and 2017, concerned cultural organizations such as libraries, theaters, concert organizations, museums, cinemas, art and sports schools, and was based on regional data of Polish and Ukrainian public statistics. It was found that the primary barriers to access to cultural infrastructure are inadequate funding, disability, geographic remoteness, disparities in education, and material living conditions. The determinants of modernizing cultural infrastructure in the region are defined.
    Celem artykułu jest określenie poziomu zróżnicowania regionu pod względem komponentu kulturowego infrastruktury społecznej, na podstawie zgrupowanych wskaźników statystycznych. W pracy wykorzystano metodę wskaźnika syntetycznego Perkala do scharakteryzowania poziomu rozwoju infrastruktury kulturalnej w regionach ukraińskich i polskich. Analiza przeprowadzona w latach 2010–2017 dotyczyła organizacji kulturalnych, takich jak biblioteki, teatry, instytucje organizujące koncerty, muzea, kina, szkoły artystyczne i sportowe. Wykorzystano regionalne dane statystyczne z Polski i Ukrainy. Stwierdzono, że podstawowymi barierami w dostępie do infrastruktury kulturalnej są niewystarczające fundusze, niepełnosprawność, oddalenie geograficzne, dysproporcje w zakresie edukacji i materialne warunki życia. Określono uwarunkowania modernizacji infrastruktury kulturalnej w regionie.

    The research is devoted to the issues of ensuring economic security of in- dustrial enterprises in competitive conditions. The methodological basis of this study is a systematic approach that provides a holistic and functional vision of economic security of industrial enterprises in a competitive environment. It was found that the economic security of an industrial enterprise is a multifaceted, multi-vector concept, according to which the main emphasis is on the efficiency of all types of resources in the process of ensuring competitiveness of the industrial enterprise. The requirements for the functioning of economic security of an industrial enterprise are highlighted. The authors prove the necessity of observance of requirements on the maintenance of economic safety at the industrial enterprise in the conditions of competition, includ- ing: formation of system strategic measures concerning components of economic safety of the enterprise, development of industrial enterprise policies to create competitive advantages, use of information tools and digital technologies to monitor the risks and threats of an enterprise, etc.

    Purpose: The main aim of the study is to depict the characteristics of some of the most common concepts of urban reconstruction (compact city, sustainable city, smart city, as well as their hybrids), present practical aspects of the indicated urban policies and attempt to verify their implementation. Design/methodology/approach: The study is based on the presentation of selected theoretical concepts. In the empirical part, the authors use the method of case studies, presenting the effects of municipal investments and practical obstacles occurring during their implementation. They form assessments based on current media reports, articles in specialist press, as well as statements made by residents. Findings: Contemporary cities are spaces of various challenges that become sources of conflicts as well as places of unmet needs and unfulfilled ambitions. Although the decision-makers make their decisions in connection with these challenges, their interventions are not always effective. The concepts of a compact city, a smart city and a sustainable city serve as recipes for the problems of modern cities: both the short-term ones and those which require shaping a comprehensive policy for the development of cities and urban areas. However, cities are not always properly diagnosed, and local authorities often lack specialists who could consciously and skilfully propose an optimal therapy. Originality and value: The study presents an original analysis of selected case studies which relate to the shaping of the space of Polish cities. The study focuses on the challenges of shaping urban areas in relation to contemporary trends in city planning and design determined by the importance of such issues as the quality of life of residents, the quality of space, its democratisation and sustainability, the presence of art, closed circulation or the use of modern technology and creativity in the process of managing modern cities and their space.

    The article offers aqualimetric assessment of the innovation in regional economic systems, taking into account digitization. The study was based on the methodology of general scientific methods of cognition and special methods of scientific research in the field of the development of productive forces and regional economy. Namely, we used the dialectical method of scientific cognition to identify contradictions and interrelations of innovative development of the subjects of regional economic systems; analysis and synthesis to identify the mechanism for identifying and implementing priority areas of innovation in the regions; the grouping method for clustering regions according to the calculated values of the integrated index of innovation of the regions of Ukraine and Poland; statistical and economic‑mathematical modeling for calculations and modeling of innovation of regions, and other methods.The calculations and analysis of the values of integrated indices of innovation activity in the regions of Ukraine and Poland are performed. These regions are grouped according to this indicator. The cartographic analysis is presented, and the region leaders, region outsiders, and regions with the average value of the integrated index of innovation are singled out. This study has theoretical and applied significance for the development of productive forces and regional economy as it provides for the development of a methodological approach to assessing the innovation activity of the regions of Ukraine and Poland, taking into account digitalization processes.
    Artykuł przedstawia kwalimetryczną ocenę innowacyjności regionalnych systemów gospodarczych z uwzględnieniem procesów cyfryzacji. Badania oparto o generalne naukowe metody poznawcze oraz specjalne metody badań naukowych w obszarze rozwoju sił wytwórczych i gospodarki regionalnej. Zastosowano dialektyczną metodę poznania naukowego do identyfikacji sprzeczności i wzajemnych powiązań innowacyjnego rozwoju podmiotów działających w ramach regionalnych systemów gospodarczych; metodę analizy i syntezy w celu określenia mechanizmów identyfikacji i wdrażania priorytetowych obszarów innowacji w regionach; metodę grupowania w celu pogrupowania regionów według obliczonych wartości zintegrowanego wskaźnika innowacyjności regionów Ukrainy i Polski; metodę modelowania statystycznego i ekonomiczno‑matematycznego do obliczenia i modelowania innowacyjności regionów, a także inne metody. Przeprowadzono kalkulację i analizę wartości zintegrowanych wskaźników działalności innowacyjnej w regionach Ukrainy i Polski. Regiony te zostały pogrupowane według wartości tego wskaźnika. Przedstawiono analizę kartograficzną i wyodrębniono regiony będące liderami, regiony zapóźnione oraz regiony o średniej wartości zintegrowanego wskaźnika innowacyjności. Niniejsze opracowanie ma znaczenie teoretyczne i aplikacyjne dla rozwoju sił wytwórczych i gospodarki regionalnej, gdyż prezentuje propozycję podejścia metodologicznego do oceny aktywności innowacyjnej regionów Ukrainy i Polski z uwzględnieniem procesów cyfryzacji.
