Opis:
This paper deals with the preparation and characterization of epoxy tamarind fruit (Tf) and Sansevieria cylindrica (Sc) hybrid composites containing fiber 0:20, 5:15, 10:10, 15:5 and 20:0 of (Tf:Sc) combinations loading. Sansevieria cylindrica leaves were used in this paper for extracting fiber out of it and in the similar manner ripen Tamarind fruit was used to extract fiber. Two different fibers viz. tamarind fruit/ Sansevieria cylindrica fibers were loaded into the epoxy system to develop the hybrid composites. The tensile and flexural properties of the resulting 20 wt. % loading of Tf/Sc/epoxy hybrid composites were examined. The resulting hybrid composites of 20 wt. % Tf/Sc with varying combinations exhibit the optimum improvement of mechanical properties and dielectric strength. 2 °C rise in decomposition temperature and 5 °C rise glass transition temperature were observed from the TGA and DSC thermal analysis. The fractured cross sections of flexural samples were assessed their performance as a function of fiber loading of Tf/Sc/epoxy hybrid composites by SEM analysis.

Introduction: Ethnobotany is the study of medicinal plants used by local people, with particular importance of old-styled tribal beliefs and information. Ethnobotanical studies focus on ethnic knowledge of Adivasi people and development of data bases on ethnic knowledge but also focuses on preservation and regeneration of traditional beliefs and maintenance of traditional knowledge. Objective: The aim of present study is to highlight the traditional actions of herbal plants used by inborn Yanadi community of Seshachalam Biosphere Reserve, Eastern Ghats of Andhra Pradesh, India. Methods: The ethnobotanical field survey was conducted according to the methods adopted by some authors. In-depth interviews, interactions were conducted with tribal physicians of Yanadi, Nakkala and Irula as well as other tribes practicing and experiencing the use of plant-based medicine. A normal inquiry form was used to gather the appropriate data on herbal plants and their usage of inborn people’s lifestyle. Extensive consultations among local people and detailed documentation of the usage of plants were carried out in 2014–2017. The aged outmoded opinions and imposts of indigenous people conceded on by word of opening were documented. Results: A total of 266 medicinally used plant species belonging to 216 genera and 88 families were recognized with help of inborn herbal healers. The study also chronicled the mode of herbal arrangements, mode of the use of herbal plants in various disorders. The study exposed that native people of Seshachalam Biosphere Reserve have good medicinal information and also have preserved plant-based medicinal system of their ascendants used all their diseases. Most of medicinal plants are used in the treatment of indigestion, snake bite and skin diseases. The authors feel that this type of study certainly helps identify ethnic leads for drug development in future. Conclusions: The ethnobotanical investigation of Seshalam Biosphere area has revealed that the tribes possess good knowledge on plant-based medicine but as they are towards in advanced exposure to transformation, their information on traditional uses of plants is slowly getting eroded. The authors plead for intensive crosscultural studies involving all ethnic tribes in the country for prioritizing or short listing of ethnic leads for various disorders for ultimately developing global level drugs for human welfare and economy development.

Opis:
The impact of heat and mass transfer effects on an MHD flow past an inclined porous plate in the presence of a chemical reaction is investigated in this study. An effort has been made to explain the Soret effect and the influence of an angle of inclination on the flow field, in the presence of the heat source, chemical reaction and thermal radiation. The momentum, energy and concentration equations are derived as coupled second order partial differential equations. The model is non-dimensionalized and shown to be controlled by a number of dimensionless parameters. The resulting dimensionless partial differential equations can be solved by using a closed analytical method. Numerical results for pertaining parameters, such as the Soret number (Sr), Grashof number (Gr) for heat and mass transfer, the Schmidt number (Sc), Prandtl number (Pr), chemical reaction parameter (Kr), permeability parameter (K), magnetic parameter (M), skin friction (τ), Nusselt number (Nu) and Sherwood number (Sh) on the velocity, temperature and concentration profiles are presented graphically and discussed qualitatively.

Tensile properties are studied to assess the influence of fiber weight. Room temperature cured epoxy was impregnated with jute/Sc in order to evaluate the performance of hybrid composites. Jute/Sc fibers are taken in the 1:1 weight ratios to suspend on epoxy resin with different fiber lengths such as 1, 2, 3 and 4 cm. The variations of aforementioned properties on hybrid composites with different fiber lengths have been studied. Significant improvement in tensile strengths of the jute/Sc hybrid composites has been observed by the alkali treatments. Thermal properties such as TGA and DSC are studied to investigate the influence of change in fibre length on treated and untreated hybrid composites in which 4 °C rise in decomposition temperature, 3 °C rise for glass transition temperature respectively.

Opis:
This paper is focused on the study of two dimensional steady magnetohydrodynamics heat and mass transfer by laminar free convection from a radiative horizontal circular cylinder in a non-Darcy porous medium by taking into account of the Soret/Dufour effects. The boundary layer equations, which are parabolic in nature, are normalized into non-similar form and then solved numerically with the well-tested, efficient, implicit, stable Keller–Box finite-difference scheme. Numerical results are obtained for the velocity, temperature and concentration distributions, as well as the local skin friction, Nusselt number and Sherwood number for several values of the parameters, namely the buoyancy ratio parameter, Prandtl number, Forchheimer number, magnetohydrodynamic body force parameter, Soret and Dufour numbers. The dependency of the thermophysical properties has been discussed on the parameters and shown graphically. Increasing the Forchheimer inertial drag parameter reduces velocity but elevates temperature and concentration. Increasing the Soret number and simultaneously reducing the Dufour number greatly boosts the local heat transfer rate at the cylinder surface. A comparative study of the previously published and present results in a limiting sense is made and an excellent agreement is found between the results.

Aimed at high resolution, an asymmetric point spread function has been obtained with good and bad sides by introducing three level asymmetric pupil functions. The good side has decreased side lobes while the bad side has increased side lobes. The asymmetry has been found to increase with the width of the edge strips within the slit aperture. On the other hand, there does not appear dependence of the asymmetry of the point spread function on the degree of amplitude apodization. But the magnitude of reduction of optical side-lobes is found to increase to a great extent by the amplitude apodization.

Pure and Ni (2 at.%) doped cadmium sulfide (CdS) nanoparticles have been synthesized by chemical co-precipitation method at room temperature. Effect of Ni doping on CdS compound semiconductors has been analyzed using X-ray diffractometer, transmission electron microscope, energy dispersive spectroscopy, Raman and optical absorption studies. X-ray diffraction study confirmed the structure of the obtained nanoparticles to be single-phase zinc blende with the diffractions from (111), (220) and (311) planes. Energy dispersive spectroscopy study confirmed the presence of Ni in the CdS lattice. The average particle size obtained from the transmission electron microscopy studies are in agreement with the crystallite size calculated from X-ray diffraction data. The optical studies exhibited a clear red shift of absorption edge as a function of Ni doping.

Opis:
The microstructure of explosive particles, as well as formulations, has a significant influence on the shock sensitivity of various energetic formulations. Particle shape and specific size distributions are always important considerations in explosives processing in order to realize better process parameters. The present study aimed to explore crystallization variables required to achieve a specific particle size of Reduced Shock Sensitivity RDX (RSS-RDX). Crystallization process factors such as cooling rate, agitator speed and configuration, etc. have been systematically studied to understand their effect on the particle size. The study also established the crystallization process parameters required to tightly control a specific particle size distribution ranging from 50 to 500 μm by cooling crystallization. Fine particles ranging from 15 to 30 μm were prepared by an ultrasonication technique. Ultrasonic process parameters, including temperature, time and ultrasonic frequency, were studied and the process conditions were optimized. Micromeritic characterization of RSS-RDX revealed the nature of flowability, which in-turn is useful in identifying the ease of processability. Overall, our interest stemmed from an investigation which showed that careful optimization of crystallization variables can lead to a specific particle size distribution.

$Ag_2Cu_2O_3$ films were deposited on glass and silicon substrates by RF magnetron sputtering of metallic equimolar $(Ag_{50}Cu_{50})$ alloy target in $Ar-O_{2}$ mixture at different substrate temperature $(T_{s})$ ranging between 303 and 523 K. The effect of $T_{s}$ on the core level binding energies, structural and electrical properties of the films was systematically studied. The films deposited at room temperature were amorphous. The films deposited at 373 K were polycrystalline and the crystallinity was increased when the $T_{s}$ was increased to 423 K. The films deposited at 423 K and subsequently annealed at 498 K exhibits single phase $Ag_2Cu_2O_3$. In the case of films deposited at higher $T_{s}$ of 523 K, $Ag_2O$ was decomposed into Ag. The electrical resistivity of the films deposited at 303 K was $1.2 \times 10^{-5}$ Ω cm, whereas the films formed at 423 K and subsequently annealed at 498 K showed electrical resistivity of $2.2 \times 10^{-3}$ Ω cm due to improvement in the crystallinity of single phase $Ag_2Cu_2O_3$.

The effects of thermal radiation and mass transfer on an unsteady hydromagnetic boundary layer mixed convection flow along a vertical porous stretching surface with heat generation are studied. The fluid is assumed to be viscous and incompressible. The governing partial differential equations are transformed into a system of ordinary differential equations using similarity variables. Numerical solutions of these equations are obtained by using the Runge-Kutta fourth order method along with the shooting technique. Velocity, temperature, concentration, the skin-friction coefficient, Nusselt number and Sherwood number for variations in the governing thermo physical parameters are computed, analyzed and discussed.

An unsteady magnetohydromagnetic natural convection on the Couette flow of electrically conducting water at 4°C (Pr = 11.40) in a rotating system has been considered. A Finite Element Method (FEM) was employed to find the numerical solutions of the dimensionless governing coupled boundary layer partial differential equations. The primary velocity, secondary velocity and temperature of water at 4°C as well as shear stresses and rate of heat transfer have been obtained for both ramped temperature and isothermal plates. The results are independent of the mesh (grid) size and the present numerical solutions through the Finite Element Method (FEM) are in good agreement with the existing analytical solutions by the Laplace Transform Technique (LTT). These are shown in tabular and graphical forms.
