The classical equation of motion for a particle moving in the new double-well potential V(x) = ½ V$\text{}_{0}$(A cosh ax - 1)$\text{}^{2}$ is solved exactly for different values of the parameter A and the energy constant E. The solutions in various special cases are discussed.

Opis:
One of the possible ways of formulation of an information loss paradox refers to an entanglement of the two particles created in a vicinity of an event horizon. Evolution of the entangled particles and an interaction with their own environments should lead to a decay of the entanglement. However obvious, such a perspective appears to be too naive in this case.

Opis:
Motivated by the properties of one-dimensional lattice systems with asymmetric on-site potential, one can formulate a hypothesis of an asymmetry driven phase transformation. Characteristic feature of one-dimensional systems exhibiting asymmetry driven phase transformation is a sequence of the two phase conversions. In particular class of such systems with a triple-well potential, phase conversions of one-dimensional systems would evolve into a sequence of two phase transitions in three-dimensional models. We propose here a model of three-dimensional system exhibiting a sequence of two first order asymmetry driven phase transitions.

Opis:
We theoretically study possible domain-type collective dimerizations of graphite induced by inter-layer charge transfer excitations in the visible region. Using the semiempirical Brenner theory, we have calculated the adiabatic energy along the path that starts from original two distant graphite layers, but finally reaches the dimerized domain which consists of about 100 carbons with inter-layer σ-bonds. The energy barrier between this new domain and the starting graphite is shown to be of the order of 1 eV, being easily overcome by applying a few visible photons. We have also shown the optimal path of transformation via step by step increase of the domain size.

Opis:
Poneratoxin (molecular weight 2932) is a 25 amino acid neuropeptide, isolated from an ant venom. It affects excitability of nerve and muscle fibres by changing the kinetics of the voltage-dependent sodium channel. The aim of the study was to investigate the analgetic effect of synthetic poneratoxin (PoTX) in adult female Wistar rats. In the first part of the study the animals received PoTX intracerebroventricularly. The analgetic effect was evaluated by a tail immersion test. In the second part of the experiment the analgetic effect of PoTX was blocked with naloxone, an opioid receptors antagonist. The study showed that poneratoxin exerts the analgetic effect in rats and this effect is not mediated by central opioid system. Therefore it was concluded that other mechanism is resposible for the effect of PoTX.

Opis:
MAS MT is a myotropic decapeptide isolated from Manduca sexta. This peptide exerts stimulatory effect on insects heart-beat frequency. The present study was undertaken in order to determine a probable antinociceptive effect in rats of native synthetic decapeptide, MAS MT-I and its two analogs, heptapeptides MAS MT-II and MAS MT-III. All these peptides were applied directly into the lateral brain ventricle (icv) at three doses: 10, 25 and 50 nmol. The analgesic (antinociceptive) effect was evaluated by a tail immersion test. It was found that two doses of MAS MT-I: 25 and 50 nmol induced significant antinociceptive effect, while MAS MT-II and MAS MT-III exert a less antinociceptive effect in comparison with native MAS MT-I. Prior icv administration of naloxone, an opioid antagonist weakly blocked MAS MT-I effect. We conclude that antinociceptive effect of MAS MT-I in rats is not mediated by central opioid system.

Opis:
Recent experiments indicate that a photostimulated graphite with a femtosecond laser pulse results in the formation of a stable domain with sp^3 like interlayer bonds. By means of the energy barrier minimization and molecular dynamics using the empirical Brenner potential we study a geometrical structure of the new phase. We clarify proliferation of the initial domain and prove that the overall process is a multiphoton one. Furthermore, we present a model describing the initial transformation - an interlayer charge transfer resulting in the localization of an exciton-like state. The local density approximation electronic structure analysis reveals that the electronic state of the new phase is an insulator immersed in semimetal. We study by means of the long-range carbon bond order potential the effect of the existence of the new phase on the surrounding graphite and propose a new mid step structure on the path of a photoinduced graphite-diamond conversion.

Opis:
The assessment of teachers’ exposure to noise in primary schools was carried out on the basis of: questionnaire studies (covering 187 teachers in 3 schools), noise measurements at the teachers’ workplaces, measurements of the school rooms acoustic properties (reverberation time and speech transmission index STI in 72 classrooms), analysis of statistical data regarding hazards and occupational diseases in the education sector. The studies have shown that noise is the main factor of annoyance in the school environment. Over 50% of questioned teachers consider noise as annoying and near 40% as very annoying or unbearable. A-weighted equivalent continuous sound pressure levels measured in classrooms, teacher rooms and common rooms are in the range of 58–80 dB and they exceed 55 dB (criteria of noise annoyance). The most frequently reported subjective feelings and complaints (over 90%) are: growth of psychical and emotional tension, irritation, difficulties in concentrating, hoarseness, cough. Noise in schools is also a harmful factor. High A-weighted equivalent continuous sound pressure levels ranging from 80 to 85 dB, measured in corridors during pauses and in sports halls, can cause the risk of hearing damage among PE teachers and persons oversensitive to noise. The latter concerns both teachers and pupils. High background noise levels (55–65 dB) force teachers to raise their voice. It can lead to the development of an occupational disease – chronic voice disorders due to excessive vocal effort lasting for at least 15 years. In the education sector 785 new cases of this disease were reported only in 2008. Poor acoustics in classrooms (reverberation time ranging from 0.8 to 1.7 s, STI < 0.6 in 50% of classrooms) have an adverse influence on speech reception and make the teaching and learning processes difficult.

Wysokie poziomy hałasu rzędu 80-85 dB mierzone w korytarzach podczas przerw i w salach gimnastycznych mogą powodować ryzyko uszkodzenia słuchu uczniów i nauczycieli.
