    Opis:
    In this article the author referring to the history of education in Poland is looking for inspiration for the debate on education through labor. He recalls the views of the classics on the role of the teacher in the educational process and clearly formulated goals, which should be implemented for the good of the child and the entire nation. Examples of good practice adopted child careproposed in the early twentieth century by K. Lisiecki, K. Jeżewski and B. Markiewicz show that education to work and by working already seved prepare young people to participate in social life. It turns out that the ideas ofthe classics are still valid and shoud be used in modern concepts of personal development of man and society.

    Fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASDs) affect children of mothers who abuse alcohol during pregnancy. There are two groups of disorders that can occur in a person with FASD: primary conditions, i.e. those with which the child is born - caused by damage to the central nervous system, and secondary conditions that appear over time. Children with FASD require special care and guidance. Very often they cannot be raised by their biological parents due to ongoing problem with alcohol.

    When World War II ended, the problem of childcare was beyond the capabilities of Poland. Therefore, Poland appealed to social organizations for help in organizing care for children, victims of the World War II. Many social organizations responded to this appeal, including established in 1919 the Workers' Society of Friends of Children (WSFC), and established in 1946 the Peasant Society of Friends of Children (PSFC). These societies provided thousands of Polish children with temporary and holistic care (nurseries, kindergartens, rural seasonal kindergartens, educational centers, day camps, summer camps, orphanages) as well as health care (sanatoriums, clinics, hospitals, vaccinations. Moreover, they provided educational services not only for children but also for their parents and educators. In the most difficult times for Poland, after World War II, WSFC and PSFC provided extensive care and educational activities that allowed children to return to normal life.

    Juvenile delinquency is currently one of the most dangerous social phenomena. Despite the involvement of a large number of researchers trying to explore the causes of delinquency, despite the development of numerous theories focused on this problem, and finally, despite the permanent verification of legal provisions regarding this phenomenon, juvenile delinquency still occurs, and what is worse, increases in rates and changes in character. Increasingly more brutal crimes are committed by increasingly younger people. Investigating juvenile delinquency means monitoring changes that occur in this area, as well as learning about existing threats and forecasting activities that should translate into the elimination of deviant behaviors.

    Terroryzm, mimo braku jednoznacznej definicji, jest zjawiskiem nie do pomylenia z żadnym innym, a więc łatwym do identyfikacji. Źródeł działań terrorystów należy upatrywać w ideologiach i religiach, a także w różnorakich uwarunkowaniach społeczno-ekonomicznych, historyczno-politycznych, socjologicznych i psychologicznych. Terroryści kierują się różnymi motywacjami, stosują też różne strategie działania, w których wspólnym elementem jest manipulacja strachem. Na przestrzeni lat radykalnej zmianie uległa struktura grup terrorystycznych, nie zmieniły się natomiast środki i metody ich działania. Realizacja zadań wyznaczanych przez grupy terrorystyczne wymaga środków finansowych. Jest to najważniejszy powód, dla którego terroryści podejmują współpracę z grupami parającymi się przestępczością zorganizowaną. Współpraca ta ma zwykle charakter albo partnerski, albo immanentny, albo podporządkowania i przyczyniła się do tego, że terroryzm i przestępczość zorganizowana stały się współcześnie jednymi z największych zagrożeń bezpieczeństwa państw i społeczeństw.
    Terrorism, despite the lack of a clear definition, it is an “unmistakable phenomenon”, and therefore easy to identify. The sources of terrorist actions can be found in ideologies and religions, as well as in various socio-economic, historical-political, sociological, and psychological factors. Terrorists are guided by various motivations and utilize different strategies to carry their acts but for all strategies fear manipulation is a common element. Over the years, the structure of terrorist groups has undergone radical changes, but the means and methods of their actions have not changed. The implementation of tasks set by terrorist groups requires money. This is the most important reason why terrorists cooperate with organized crime groups. This cooperation usually takes the form of partnership, immanent or subordination. It has contributed to the fact that terrorism and organized crime have become one of the biggest threats to the security of states and societies nowadays.

    Tolerance, which is the basis for the stability of a democratic state, is an attitude characterized by respecting different views, beliefs and preferences. Throughout history, many philosophers, ethicists and sociologists have been researching this issue in order to find the causes of intolerance in the societies and the possibilities to limit it. Solutions were also sought on the international arena, what was expressed in the implementation of conventions and declarations. It seems particularly interesting to learn about the attitudes of school youth towards the differences of others, and their opinions about the level of tolerance of people around them.

    Nauka będąca autonomiczną częścią kultury wyjaśniającą funkcjonowanie świata, w którym żyje człowiek, ma długą historię i jest rozwijana wyłącznie za pomocą tzw. metody naukowej lub metod naukowych, nazywanych też paradygmatami nauki, poprzez działalność badawczą prowadzącą do publikowania wyników naukowych dociekań. Rozwój nauki, dokonujący się przez poszerzenie zasięgu problematyki oraz modyfikowanie i nowelizowanie sposobów poznania, spowodował taki przyrost wiedzy, że zaistniała konieczność jej podziału na określone obszary, dziedziny i dyscypliny. Odnosząc się w sposób ogólny do historii nauki, w tym do jej podziału zaproponowanego przez Auguste’a Comte’a, analizie poddane zostaną współczesne poczynania w tym zakresie, dokonane zarówno przez Organizację Współpracy Gospodarczej i Rozwoju, jak i polskie Ministerstwo Nauki i Szkolnictwa Wyższego. W kontekście istniejącego podziału nauki na dziedziny i dyscypliny oraz miejsca nauk o bezpieczeństwie w dziedzinie nauk społecznych zanalizowane zostaną teoretyczne (ontologiczne i epistemologiczne) założenia metodologiczne tej nauki, które stają się podstawą kształtowania jej tożsamości i wyznaczenia miejsca w istniejącym systemie nauk. Przedstawione zostaną także podstawowe wskazania dotyczące przedmiotu badań i jego uwarunkowań transdyscyplinarnych, metod, technik i narzędzi badawczych lokowanych w transmetodologii.

    As an autonomous constituent of culture explaining the functioning of the world in which all humans live, science has a long-standing history, and has developed solely with the so-called scientific method (or methods), also referred to as paradigms of science, through research activities leading to the publishing of the outcomes of scientific exploration. The development of science, as pursued through the expansion of its subject matter, and through modifying and revising its modes of learning, generated such an expansion in knowledge that it became necessary to divide it into specific areas, fields, and disciplines. By making a general reference to the history of science, including its division as proposed by A. Comte, this article will analyse the modern developments in this sphere, as introduced both by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education. In the context of the existing division of science into fi elds and disciplines, and in view of the place of security sciences within the fi eld of social sciences, the theoretical (ontological and epistemological) methodological assumptions of this science will be analysed, which will form the basis for shaping its identity, and determining its place within the existing system of sciences. Basic indications will also be presented regarding the subject matter of research, and its transdisciplinary conditions, methods, techniques, and research tools, positioned within transmethodology.

    Undoubtedly, serving as a police officer is associated with a high level of occupational stress. The stressfulness of this profession, which keeps increasing every year, results from several reasons, of which the most important ones include frequent participation in difficult and sometimes dramatic situations, endangering one’s own life and the lives of others, making quick decisions, bearing the burden of a potentially unjustified use of weapons, and exposure to trauma and other traumatic experiences of other people. The high level of stress related to the profession of a police officer is also associated with other factors, such as low wages, shifts, or paperwork. This paper looks at the notion and consequences of burnout among police officers on the example of the Krakow Constabulary. The study rests on a detailed survey of 110 officers based on the application of the ANOVA method of analysis of variance.

    Safety is one of the basic psychological needs, and at the same time, a state that gives a sense of confidence and a guarantee of its preservation and a chance for self-improvement. This is a situation characterized by the lack of risk of losing something that is particularly important for a person. In reference to a child, it acquires a unique meaning, because it is an important element of a positively created educational environment. Ensuring safety and safe living conditions is the responsibility of the family, school, social organizations and institutions. This involves also a road traffic safety, as every child is a road user. Undertaking research in this area, not only allows to get to know the state of affairs, but also indicates the directions of work with children, which will translate into an increase in their safety..

    W artykule, przeanalizowano model rozwoju organizacji Larrego Greinera w celu wskazania i zinterpretowania w tym kontekście obecnego etapu rozwoju Policji jako organizacji. Podjęto także próbę znalezienia analogii pomiędzy systemem zarządzania strukturami Policji a ewolucyjnymi i rewolucyjnymi etapami prezentowanymi w modelu, w tym także występującymi w nim kryzysami i wykorzystywanymi metodami zarządzania. W skompensowany sposób zaprezentowano elementy organizacji Policji w zakresie historii, struktury, wielkości i zadań, co stworzyło podstawę do pełniejszego zrozumienia podjętego w artykule problemu.

    Opis:
    The article analyses and interprets Larry Greiner's model in order to assess the current stage of development of the police as an organisation. An attempt has also been made to find analogies between the management system of police structures and the evolutionary and revolutionary stages presented in the model, including the crises occurring therein and the management methods applied. The elements of history, structure, size and tasks of the police have been presented in a balanced manner, which forms the basis for a more complete understanding of the problem discussed in the paper.
