Opis:
Approximately twenty thousand children who grow up in the Czech Republic live without or outside their families. If a child does not have sufficiently safe and suitable conditions for his/her healthy development, which should be provided by his or her own family, the state has the obligation to maintain alternative care for such citizens. Substitute care is provided by substitute family care (also known as foster care) or institutional care. The aim of the article is to analyse the impact of social work practice that deals with children and teenagers. The analysis includes the comparison between two countries – Poland and Denmark which both provide social care in the form of foster care (also for vulnerable children). In recent years, the social care system for vulnerable children has undergone significant reforms and it is still dynamically developing. The transformation of the system in the Czech Republic, which was carried out by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and with other ministries including the Ministry of Interior, made a significant contribution to the development. The analysis of historical development of the foster care system, the phenomenon of neglection and its genesis, mental deprivation of children through neglection are also widely discussed in the work.

Opis:
The current problem of the low standard of the educational system for pupils from socially excluded communities is that it is not a flexible system and the primary schools do not only provide an educational but also a space to socialize for children. It is important to create a functioning education strategy that will not only respond to specific aspects of the personality of children from excluded communities, but will also be able to create a stimulating environment for them to develop. The emergence of socially excluded communities is the result of several factors; some examples are the low social status of families, low level of parental education and school aspects in the locality where primary school is associated with segregation. The social development of children from an early age is influenced by the family and the environment where their education takes place.

Opis:
The authors aim to draw attention to underestimating and disinterest in conducting a social study on the Roma population in socialism, which was carried out only in the early 1970s. The study on social and pathological phenomena focused on the impacts on the overall societal scale. The researchers did not perform studies in Roma communities and families. The state-controlled blanket assimilation was expected to automatically arouse positive changes in Roma families. Research into social pathology in Roma communities and families was launched only in the second half of the 1990s, mainly after the millennium. The study points to the authors’ archival qualitative research at the turn of 2020 and 2021 in the Slovak National Archives in Bratislava. The second part of the article presents qualitative research on violence against Romani women in connection with the presented effects of not addressing this negative phenomenon. The main goal of the research is to show the extent of interest in the social situation of the Roma during the communist regime and to point out the main problems in the present day.
