Opis:
The release of the apostolic exhortation Amoris Laetitia revealed the need in the universal Church to accompany spouses in the initial years of marriage. The First Instruction of the Polish Episcopate for the Clergy on Preparation of the Faithful for the Sacrament of Marriage and on Pastoral Care of the Family introduced in Poland in the late sixties highlighted the fact that leaving young spouses alone in the initial stage of their life in marriage is disadvantageous. Therefore, Christian community should gain profound knowledge of the difficulties faced by young spouses in order to provide them with proper aid. St. John Paul II also highlighted the need to accompany young spouses in his apostolic exhortation Familiaris Consortio (cf. FC, 65). Pope Francis, concerned about the irresponsible attitude of fiancés towards contracting sacramental marriage, teaches in his apostolic exhortation Amoris Laetitia that “the initial years of marriage are a vital and sensitive period during which couples become more aware of the challenges and meaning of married life” (AL, 223). The Pope higlights the greatest opportunity of help in accompanying young spouses after the celebration of the sacrament of marriage. He encourages pastoral workers to assist young couples in order to help them complete the unfinished process of becoming mature in order to face the responsibility to contract sacramental marriage. The author of the article attempts to explain what accompanying is, what issues should be discussed during meetings with the spouses in the initial years of marriage and what subjects should actively participate in assissting young spouses.

Transformacja polityczna 1989 roku znacząco wpłynęła także na życie rodzinne. Spowodowała w konsekwencji pogłębienie kryzysu małżeństwa i pojawienie się nowych problemów egzystencjalnych. Kryzysy doświadczane przez małżonków znajdują odzwierciedlenie w rosnącej liczbie rozwodów, w społecznej akceptacji tego zjawiska oraz w tymczasowych formach wspólnego życia, w tzw. małżeństwach na próbę. Polityczne przemiany doprowadziły do przekształceń w tradycyjnym rozumieniu życia rodzinnego opartym na: głębokiej więzi rodzinnej, na szacunku dla rodziców i dla osób starszych, na pamięci o przodkach i kulcie zmarłych. Artykuł stanowi próbę opisania zarówno kulturowo-społecznych i politycznych skutków transformacji ustrojowej 1989 roku, jak i ich wpływu na życia małżeńskie i rodzinne.
Political transformation has significantly influenced family and married life. It resulted in deepening of the crisis of marriage and in the appearance of new existential problems. The crisis experienced by married couples is reflected in the growing number of divorces, in the liberal social attitude towards divorce and in the practice of “trial marriages”. The political transformation in 1989 resulted in the change which consisted in the loss of the traditional nature of the family: based on a deep family bond, on respect for parents and for the elderly, on memory of the deceased, on keeping in memory genealogy and on the cult of the dead. Starting a family used to be the most appropriate way of regulating one’s life and of achieving life satisfaction. Social changes of the recent decades caused deepening of the crisis of the traditional marriage through: increasing expectations of the contemporary man towards life, moving from the country to the city, professional careers of women, growing sexual freedom, the hedonistic attitude in life, moral permissiveness, unemployment and emigration. Among other problems which are experienced by married couples and families there are: contracting marriage late in life, introducing the model of a family with only one child, contraception, divorces, unemployment, difficult material and living condition and emigration for money.

Opis:
Pastoral ministry of the Church has been directed to the family since the very beginning. Because of the urgent need for helping married couples and families, the Second Vatican Council introduced a revolutionary change in the pastoral ministry directed at spouses and families. Christians are called to emphasize the value of marriage and family, both with the testimony of their own lives and in cooperation with people of good will. These are the tasks for the clergy and laymen alike, as they are responsible for assuring that the family is aware of its identity. Among the family ministry workers there are bishops, priests, deacons, monks, nuns and consecrated persons. Among the laymen the roles of the workers of the Church’s ministry for the family are assigned to Catholics who specialize in medicine, law, psychology, to social workers and counsellors. The ministry of laymen for fiancés, married couples and families is marked with the apostolic charism. Apart from the participation in introducing the Gospel into the everyday reality of marital and family life, laymen can also assist priests in the pastoral care of the family by spreading the teaching of the Church. This service is supported by the sacramental priesthood, which is connected with proclaiming God’s word and with the ministry of Sacraments. Cooperation and complementarity of the clergy and laymen in working with married couples and families constitute a way of counteracting the corruption of married and family life and are crucial in the development of the pastoral care of the family.
Działalność duszpasterska Kościoła od początku była zwrócona ku rodzinie. Sobór Watykański II, widząc naglącą potrzebę pomocy małżeństwom i rodzinom, dokonał przełomu w działalności duszpasterskiej wobec małżeństw i rodzin. Wzywa chrześcijan do podnoszenia wartości małżeństwa i rodziny, zarówno świadectwem własnego życia, jak również współdziałaniem z ludźmi dobrej woli. Do zadań tych powołani są zarówno duchowni, jak i świeccy, do których należy przede wszystkim troska o to, aby rodzina była świadoma własnej tożsamości. Do pracy w duszpasterstwie rodzin zaangażowani są biskupi, kapłani, diakoni, zakonnicy i zakonnice oraz osoby życia konsekrowanego. Natomiast wśród osób świeckich posłannictwo Kościoła wobec rodziny pełnią specjaliści o inspiracji katolickiej, jak: lekarze, prawnicy, psychologowie, pracownicy społeczni, doradcy. Posługa osób świeckich wobec narzeczonych, małżeństw i rodzin naznaczona jest charyzmatem apostolskim. Osoby świeckie oprócz udziału we wprowadzaniu Ewangelii w realia życia małżeńskiego i rodzinnego mogą służyć duszpasterzom rodzin nieocenioną pomocą w przekazywaniu nauki Kościoła. Posługa ta jest wspierana przez kapłaństwo sakramentalne, z którym związane jest głoszenie słowa Bożego i szafarstwo sakramentalne. Współdziałanie i uzupełnianie się w pracy z małżeństwami i rodzinami duchownych i świeckich daje alternatywę na przeciwstawianie się deprawacji życia małżeńskiego i rodzinnego oraz rozwój duszpasterstwa rodzin.

Today, many of the faithful who are preparing for marriage and family life have not received sufficient formation at home—a formation that would ensure that they receive the sacraments of Christian initiation. The sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist graft man onto Christ and enable him to become both a new creature and a member of the Catholic Church. The role of the Church, therefore, is to convey to the faithful the relationship that exists between the sacrament of Marriage, for which they are preparing, and the sacraments of Christian initiation. These sacraments are an integral part of the sacramental economy by which faithful and practicing Christians live. In seeking the proper way to grow in their future life together, engaged couples must perceive the deep connection between married life and the sacraments of initiation. Frequently, however, members of the faithful have received the sacraments of Christian initiation but have not truly encountered Christ in their lives. In this case, such individuals neither understand what the Christian community is, nor do they feel like they are full members of the Church to which they were introduced by virtue of the sacraments. Therefore, it is necessary to seek solutions to help these individuals create a marital and family life that is permeated by Christ’s presence.
We współczesnych czasach zauważa się, że osoby przygotowujące się do życia małżeńskiego i rodzinnego nie otrzymały wystarczającej formacji w domu rodzinnym co powinny gwarantować sakramenty wtajemniczenia chrześcijańskiego. Sakramenty chrztu, bierzmowania i Eucharystii wszczepiają człowieka w Chrystusa i powodują, że przyjmujący je staje się nowym stworzeniem i pełnoprawnym członkiem Kościoła. Rolą Kościoła jest ukazywanie związku, jaki istnieje między sakramentem małżeństwa, do którego człowiek wierzący się przygotowuje, a sakramentami wtajemniczenia chrześcijańskiego. Wpisują się one integralnie w ekonomię sakramentalną, którą żyje wierzący i praktykujący chrześcijanin. Przyszli małżonkowie poszukując właściwej drogi rozwoju wspólnego życia, mogą dostrzec głębokie więzi między życiem małżeńskim a sakramentami wtajemniczenia. Zdarzają się jednak sytuacje, że osoby, które przyjęły sakramenty inicjacji chrześcijańskiej nie spotkały w swoim życiu Chrystusa. Nie rozumieją czym jest chrześcijańska wspólnota i nie czują się w pełni członkami Kościoła, do którego zostali na mocy sakramentów wprowadzeni. Dlatego należy szukać rozwiązań, które pomogą w tym, aby ich życie małżeńsko-rodzinne zostało przeniknięte obecnością Chrystusa.

Opis:
The family, as the place of the apostolic activities, should show the children and youths its beauty and the possibilities of the apostolate. This task is performed if the family becomes a focus of Divine and human love for its members. This is expressed in building vital relations between the spouses and the children. The dialog that originates between the husband and the wife on the one hand and the children on the other, protects and deepens their love. In maintaining and respecting love the spouses and children are consolidated by faith that opens them to God’s presence and activity in life, and teaches them humility and trust. Both the husband and the wife are invited to undertake the evangelization tasks. Christian parents are the first teachers of faith and first educators for their children. Through word and example they prepare them for a Christian and apostolic life. Frequently children brought up in this way experience the reality of the circle they live in that is permeated with the spirit of apostolate, and they choose the particular way of monastic or priestly life, realizing the missionary vocation. The apostolate of the Christian family is not just wishful thinking, but the living necessity of the Church that in the name of Christ wants to transform the contemporary world. The family internally united and open to the neighbors makes Christ’s Church present everywhere it lives and acts.

Opis:
Apart from the care for the families, the family ministry also deals with all the issues concerning the betrothed. The period of engagement is a special time that should be devoted to discussing the plans for the future such as: the choice of the place to live in, the duties of each spouse, the financial issues, the sexual issues, social life, leisure, bringing up children and preparing them for the responsible life in the light of their real vocation. The proper, valuable and responsible experience of the engagement period helps to overcome the modern threats. These include: pairing among teenagers − to be „only” with each other, the premarital „trial” cohabitation and the improper promotion of experiencing the engagement period in the media. The pastoral care of the family ministry for the future spouses is the action which will show them the appropriate way in order to help them to positively establish a successful marriage and family. The future spouses are supposed to decide to get married by an act of personal choice which should be well thought out, free and prayed for.

Opis:
Raising children in single-parent families has been recognized as a serious problem which results in the situation where single parents (except for families where the absence of either parent is caused by their death) find themselves in conflict with the Catholic teaching on marriage. The situation influences the functioning of the family and the way the offspring are raised. The categories of single-parent families show certain similarities in the ways of their functioning. It is important to notice that in the single-parent families of unmarried people there appears to be significant lack of the emotional bond between the child and the absent parent. It is unique in such a group of families not to allow the presence of the other parent, mostly the father. In most cases the single parent who raises the child creates a negative image of the absent parent. In case of divorce, the excluded parent is deprived of the possibility to positively influence his or her own children. In fateful situations, it is death that excludes one of the parents from the family life. In order to prevent creating single-parent families we should take care of forming personal culture and the proper choice of a partner who will aim at setting up a full family. The partners who are going to set up a family should be taught how to be responsible for their life decisions and for the members of their families. The future parents should set up their full families in a mature and wise way because only such full families can be an ideal place for upbringing the child and for preparing him or her for their life in society.

We współczesnych czasach wiele rodzin odczuwa osamotnienie i przeżywa różnego rodzaju kryzysy. Towarzyszy temu osłabienie wiary w obecność Chrystusa w sakramencie małżeństwa, co utrudnia budowanie wspólnoty i może rodzić rozczarowanie i zniechęcenie wobec podjętej drogi życia. Dlatego jedną z inicjatyw Kościoła jest wyjście naprzeciw problemom przeżywanym przez małżonków i rodziców poprzez działania duszpasterskie zmierzające do niesienia im odpowiedniej pomocy, aby wzrastali w miłości i przeżywaniu Ewangelii. Jedną z inicjatyw jest towarzyszenie duszpasterskie, które powinno obejmować: zrzeszenia małżeństw i rodzin, małżeństwa niezrzeszone, jak również małżeństwa mieszane oraz o różnej przynależności religijnej. Tego typu działania duszpasterskie powinny przyczynić się do stworzenia w parafii środowiska przyjaznego małżeństwu i rodzinie.
In contemporary times many families feel lonely and face various types of crisis. Their faith in the presence of Christ in the Sacrament of Marriage is weakened and thus it makes it more difficult for them to create a relationship and may cause disappointment and discouragement in the undertaken new way of life. Therefore, one of the initiatives of the Church is to help spouses and parents to cope with the problems through pastoral care which aims at accompanying them in growing in their mutual love and in living the Gospel. Pastoral accompaniment can involve gathering of married couples and families, non-member families as well as mixed marriages of different religious affiliation into Catholic associations. These kinds of pastoral actions should contribute to creating a marriage and family-friendly environment in the parish.

W trosce o małżeństwa i rodziny, które przeżywają trudną sytuację, ważne jest nauczenie ich, jak przejść od sytuacji problemowej do rozwiązania. Próby rozwiązania tej sytuacji mogą być długotrwałe i skomplikowane. Należy jednak zauważyć, że czas potrzebny na znalezienie rozwiązania zależy głównie od natury problemu oraz od cech charakteru osoby, a także od jej intencji. Wśród trudnych sytuacji autor wymienia troskę Kościoła o osoby z niepełnosprawnościami. Sytuacja ta pomaga rodzicom odkryć prawdę, że każdy człowiek jest powołany przez Boga. Autor książki dalej omawia problem wzrostu liczby osób uzależnionych od alkoholu, narkotyków i pornografii, a także tych, którzy przystępują do różnych sekt. Leczenie takich nałogów nie jest łatwe, dlatego więcej uwagi należy poświęcić profilaktyce. Wśród ważnych wyzwań, przed jakimi staje każdy człowiek, jest także to, które dotyczy przygotowania do własnej starości. Dlatego jednym z ważnych celów duszpasterstwa osób starszych jest przygotowanie ich do życia sakramentalnego, zwłaszcza gdy zaniedbuje się tę dziedzinę życia. Jednym z pozytywnych kierunków w Kościele katolickim jest powrót do pewnych form życia konsekrowanego, czyli konsekracji wdów i dziewic. Należy jednak zauważyć, że jednym z najważniejszych zadań, jakie stają przed osobami konsekrowanymi, jest dawanie świadectwa wyjątkowej komunii z Bogiem i Kościołem. W sytuacji trudnej znajdują się również rodziny, które nie są w stanie zaangażować się w życie swojej parafii. Wcześniej dotyczyła ona głównie par żyjących w konkubinacie lub rodzin osób uzależnionych od alkoholu. Współcześnie dotyczy także osób, które utraciły więź z Kościołem po sakramencie bierzmowania. Nieregularny stan funkcjonowania rodziny dotyczy również małoletnich małżeństw. Warto zauważyć, że tylko dwie dorosłe osoby mogą zawrzeć małżeństwo. Dlatego akty seksualne w małżeństwie powinny opierać się na odpowiedzialnej postawie małżonków wobec rodzicielstwa, ponieważ decyzja o posiadaniu dzieci jest jedną z najważniejszych decyzji w życiu małżonków. W trudnej sytuacji są także małżeństwa i rodziny, które cierpią z powodu zerwania więzi małżeńskiej i rodzinnej: tzw. Rodziny emigranckie. Nauka Kościoła bezpośrednio odnosi się do takich sytuacji, dając szereg sposobów pomocy, poprzez upowszechnianie modelu małżeństwa zorientowanego na osobę, tworzenie systemu poradnictwa i środowiska wspierającego. Wśród trudnych sytuacji znajdują się również rodziny marynarzy i żołnierzy. Rodziny te często stoją w obliczu separacji. Dlatego rodzice powinni mieć świadomość, że ciągła nieobecność jednego z małżonków może skutkować dezintegracją rodziny. Kapelani więzienni, w trosce o rodziny w sytuacjach trudnych, mają do odegrania ważną rolę. Ten rodzaj duszpasterstwa jest szczególnie ważny ze względu na specyfikę pracy osób zatrudnionych w Służbie Więziennej i ich rodzin. Dlatego warto uczyć pracujących tam i skazanych, jak budować więź rodzinną. Również małżeństwa mieszane są wyzwaniem dla duszpasterstwa. Wyzwanie dotyczy odpowiedzialnego przygotowania tych, którzy chcą zawrzeć małżeństwo mieszane i zapewnienia im należytej opieki.

Opis:
Pope Francis’ teaching on preparation for marriage and family life in his Apostolic Exhortation Amoris Laetitia reflects his concern for providing engaged couples with a holistic human and Christian formation that will preparing them to responsibly realize their vocation to marriage and family. This task is particularly important because families today are broken and the value of marriage is under attack. The environment in which engaged couples are immersed is very important in the process of preparing them for marriage and family life, since it is the place where the personality of the new family members is formed. For this reason, Pope Francis offers new pastoral initiatives that aim at increasing the effectiveness of marriage preparation by engaging missionary families and the families of the engaged couples as well as “a variety of pastoral resources.” In his exhortation, Pope Francis shows the importance of freedom of choice, fidelity, and the indissolubility of the marriage bond. He also points out the importance of having the proper approach to the marriage celebration and wedding reception. Pope Francis encourages engaged couples to opt for modest and simple celebrations “in which love takes precedence over everything else” (AL 212) because love has the power to unite spouses if it is “strengthened and sanctified by grace [of the sacrament]”.

Opis:
Marriage is a profound communion of life and love established by the Creator and normalized by His laws. It is the strongest bond that can exist between a man and a woman. The concept of marriage is closely connected with its monogamous character. Spouses in the sacrament of marriage get the proper grace from Christ, designed to improve love and to strengthen their indissoluble unity. Nowadays marriage is experiencing a crisis. Therefore, it would be presented not only as a covenant community or an institution, but as a vocation. The vocation is an act of summoning, which involves the mission consisting in completing a given task. The essence of a Christian vocation stemming from baptism is a dialogue of the freedom of God and a man, preceded by the choice of the person and commission of the given mission. A sacramental marriage is the way of bounding with God and following Christ, that is the most appropriate way to holiness for spouses. Therefore, an important message for a modern man is to present marriage as a vocation that is addressed to two people, which should be accepted by them and implemented. This situation also requires a change of the pastoral perspective and new opening not only for spouses, for whom marriage is a way to bind with God, but there is the needed to be opened to those for whom marriage is only the fulfillment of the requirements by the Church to get married.
Małżeństwo jest głęboką wspólnotą życia i miłości, ustanowioną przez Stwórcę i unormowaną Jego prawami. Jest najsilniejszą więzią, jaka może zaistnieć między kobietą i mężczyzną. Pojęcie małżeństwa łączy się ściśle z jego monogamicznym charakterem. Małżonkowie w sakramencie małżeństwa otrzymują od Chrystusa właściwą im łaskę, przeznaczoną do doskonalenia miłości i dla umacniania ich nierozerwalnej jedności. W obecnych czasach małżeństwo doświadcza kryzysu. Warto byłoby zatem ukazać je nie tylko jako przymierze, wspólnotę czy instytucję, ale jako powołanie. Powołanie jest aktem wezwania, które wiąże się z posłannictwem polegającym na wypełnieniu określonego zadania. Istotą powołania chrześcijańskiego wynikającego z chrztu św. jest dialog wolności Boga i człowieka, poprzedzony wyborem osoby i zleceniem jej misji. To właśnie sakramentalny związek małżeński jest sposobem związania się z Bogiem, pójścia za Chrystusem, czyli najwłaściwszą dla małżonków drogą kroczenia do świętości. Dlatego ważnym przesłaniem dla współczesnego człowieka jest ukazanie małżeństwa jako powołania, które skierowane jest do dwojga ludzi i powinno być przez nich przyjęte i realizowane.

Opis:
The documents of the Church devote a lot of space to marriage and family. They show marriage and family as natural communities that cannot be substituted by any other institutions. They also point to the necessity of the Christian formation of all the subjects of Church life, among which the first place is taken by family. Introduction into the full Christian life of children, young people and adults is done during the family catechesis. It is a contingent, immediate and practical teaching of religious truths in the family home. This task is first of all the parents’ responsibility; in this way they pass the exam in their religious education and educational skills. Grandparents, elder siblings, as well as the school and the parish help the parents. Family catechesis also effects the preparation for marital and family life. It is a way to revive families for Christian life, to look properly at the preparation to marriage, to live in sanctity and to fulfill the marital and family duties conscientiously.
