Czynię również próbę uwzględnienia elementów biograficznych, które miały wpływ na losy i decyzje podejmowane przez Stefana Morawskiego. Dotyczy to szczególnie lat 40., 50. i 60. XX wieku.
    The aim of the article is to present the scientific profile of Professor Stefan Morawski on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of birth. I present the basic stages of Prof. Morawski's scientific development. I complement it with the main solutions and proposals, which prof. Morawski brought to philosophy, philosophy of culture, aesthetics and theory and art criticism. I also attempt to take into account the biographical elements that influenced Stefan Morawski's life and decisions. This is especially true in the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s.

    The aim of this paper is to propose an interpretation of aesthetic emotions in which they are treated as various affective reactions to a work of art. I present arguments that there are three different types of such aesthetic emotional responses to art, i.e., embodied emotions, epistemic emotions and contextual-associative emotions. I then argue that aesthetic emotions understood in this way are dynamic wholes that need to be explained by capturing and describing their internal temporal dynamics as well as by analyzing the relationships with the other components of aesthetic experience.

    The paper presents changes in the way of organizing administrative duties enforcement authorities that took place after 1990. It was found that the changes were caused primarily by alterations in the public administration system. The positive side of the changes is the introduction of the principle that enforcement authorities can be established only by law. The number of bodies authorized to conduct administrative enforcement has decreased, which creates better conditions for the specialization of officials in the field of administrative enforcement. On the other hand, the negative side of the changes is their partial nature and modification of changes after a short period of their validity, and even a return to previous solutions. The legislator does not seem to have a coherent concept of the organization of the administrative enforcement apparatus.

    “Music in the Cathedral of Wawel in the Middle Ages” is a series of publications showing a rich heritage of music and liturgy stored in the Wawel archive. Transcriptions of old melodies, often written down in letters and notations difficult to decipher, are about re-writhing those melodies into square notation (so called Vatican Notation) and by doing so, to encourage a wider group of performers to base on it.We give you transcriptions of Lamentatione Iheremiae Prophete, being part of Matutinum tenebrarum and a liturgical drama Visitaio sepulcri, playing out on a Easter morning at the empty grave. Each of the presented transcriptions has been preceded with a description of the manuscript and notations used in it, presentation of the problems occurred during transcription, pointing out the liturgical provenance (specific service of the Holy Week) and Polish translations of the texts.
    „Muzyka w katedrze na Wawelu w epoce średniowiecza” to cykl publikacji mających na celu ukazanie bogatego dziedzictwa liturgiczno-muzycznego, które przechowywane jest w wawelskim archiwum. Transkrypcje dawnych melodii, które są często zapisane notacją i tekstem mało czytelnym, mają na celu przepisanie tych melodii do notacji kwadratowej (tak zwanej watykańskiej) i w ten sposób zachęcić szersze grono wykonawców do sięgnięcia po ten repertuar. Oddajemy Państwu do rąk transkrypcje Lamentatione Iheremiae Prophete (Lamentacje Jeremiasza), będące częścią Matutinum tenebrarum (Ciemnych jutrzni) oraz dramat liturgiczny Visitaio sepulcri (Nawiedzenie grobu), rozgrywający się w trakcie poranka wielkanocnego przy pustym grobie. Każda z przedstawionych transkrypcji poprzedzona została opisem manuskryptu i zastosowanej w nim notacji, przedstawieniem problemów związanych z transkrypcją, wskazaniem proweniencji liturgicznej (konkretne nabożeństwo Wielkiego Tygodnia) oraz polskim tłumaczeniem tekstów.

    In this article, I present the position of Stefan Morawski – one of the most eminent Polish aestheticians and philosophers of art – on culture and its axiological dimension. On the other hand, I critically verify what culture’s central diagnosis is: a cultural crisis. I believe that to reach such a goal, I need to present the following central issues that make up this position: an understanding of the concept of culture and civilization; the ontology of value; an understanding of the cultural and civilizational crisis; Morawski’s typology of this crisis; and Morawski’s suggestions as to what distinctive features of culture testify to its crisis. This, I think, creates the opportunity to try to answer the question posed in the title: Where is contemporary culture heading?
    W artykule niniejszym podejmuję próbę z jednej strony prezentacji stanowiska Stefana Morawskiego, jednego z najwybitniejszych polskich estetyków i filozofów sztuki, na temat kultury i jej aksjologicznego wymiaru. Z drugiej strony to co jest jej centralną diagnozą – kryzys kultury poddaję krytycznej weryfikacji. Sądzę, że dotarcie do tak określonego celu wymaga przedstawienia następujących centralnych zagadnień składających się na to stanowisko: rozumienia pojęcia kultury i cywilizacji, ontologii wartości, rozumienia kryzysu kultury i cywilizacji oraz przeprowadzonej przez Morawskiego typologii tego pojęcia, wskazania na podstawowe cechy dystynktywne, które zdaniem Morawskiego świadczą o jej kryzysie. To jak sądzę, stwarza możliwość podjęcia próby udzielenia odpowiedzi na pytanie postawione w tytule: Dokąd zmierza współczesna nam kultura?

    In the article, the author attempts to answer the question to what extent Stefan Moraw- ski's and Grzegorz Sztabiński's views on neo-avant-garde art were convergent or identical. The first stage on the way to answering this question is the reconstruction of Grzegorz Sztabiński's standpoint on the crisis of culture and the role of neo-avant-garde art in it. The second stage is the reconstruction of Stefan Morawski's contexts of understanding the art practised by Grzegorz Szta- biński. The third one, which provides a fundamental answer to the question posed in the introduction, is the confrontation of the axiological dimension of neo-avant-garde art with postmodernist art. The author argues for axiological convergence in the decisions of Grzegorz Sztabiński and Stefan Morawski in favour of neo-avant-garde art confronted with postmodernist art
    W artykule autor podejmuje próbę odpowiedzi na pytanie na ile poglądy na sztukę neoawangardową Stefana Morawskiego i Grzegorza Sztabińskiego były zbieżne lub tożsame. Pierwszym etapem na drodze do udzielenia odpowiedzi na to pytanie jest rekonstrukcja stanowiska Grzegorza Sztabińskiego wobec kryzysu kultury i roli jaką w niej pełni sztuka neoawangardowa. Drugim etapem na tej drodze jest rekonstrukcja kontekstów Stefana Morawskiego rozumienia sztuki uprawianej przez Grzegorza Sztabińskiego. Trzecim, który w sposób zasadniczy udziela odpowiedzi na postawione we wstępie pytanie to konfrontacja aksjologicznego wymiaru sztuki neoawangardowej ze sztuką postmodernistyczną. Autor argumentuje za aksjologiczną zbieżnością w rozstrzygnięciach Grzegorza Sztabińskiego i Stefana Morawskiego na rzecz sztuki neoawangardowej w konfrontacji ze sztuką postmodernistyczną

    Moral Emotions as the Basis of Moral Sensitivity. Defects of Moral Sensitivity It is shown that, contrary to the rationalist tradition which is prevalent in philosophical ethics and to the traditional views of moral psychology, research results in the field of neuroethics suggest that the basis for moral sensitivity is constituted by certain emotions such as: blame, mercy and compassion which are classified as a special class of moral emotions. In fact, they are mainly neurophysiological processes that are launched automatically. The existence of such emotions is proved by the results of brain imagining neuropsychological experiments performed on healthy subjects as well as on lesion patients.

    Pott’s puffy tumour is defined as inflammation of the frontal bone marrow with an accompanying subperiosteal abscess manifested by swelling of the frontal region and is most often a complication of paranasal sinusitis or trauma. Early diagnosis and implementation of proper treatment are important due to the frequent co-occurrence of intracranial complications, such as epidural empyema, cerebral abscesses or meningitis. Due to the low prevalence of Pott’s puffy tumour, the knowledge on this severe complication relies on descriptions or series of cases, especially among children. We present a case of an 8-year-old girl who was admitted to the hospital due to headache and swelling in the frontal area. We also present a summary of the available publications on Pott’s puffy tumour. Diagnostic procedures revealed massive inflammatory changes in the paranasal sinuses, with the destruction of the frontal sinus walls, and showed a connection between the inflammatory lesions and the anterior cranial fossa. The girl was qualified for urgent neurosurgical and laryngological surgery.
    Zapalenie szpiku kostnego kości czołowej z towarzyszącym ropniem podokostnowym manifestującym się obrzękiem w okolicy czołowej definiowane jest jako guz Potta i najczęściej stanowi powikłanie zapalenia zatok przynosowych lub urazu. Wczesne ustalenie rozpoznania i wdrożenie właściwego leczenia jest istotne ze względu na częste współwystępowanie powikłań wewnątrzczaszkowych, takich jak ropniak nadtwardówkowy, ropnie mózgu czy zapalenie opon mózgowo-rdzeniowych. Ze względu na niewielką częstość występowania guza Potta zakres wiedzy dotyczącej tego ciężkiego powikłania stanowią opisy przypadków lub serii przypadków, zwłaszcza wśród dzieci. Prezentujemy opis przypadku 8-letniej dziewczynki, która zgłosiła się do szpitala z powodu bólu głowy i obrzęku w okolicy czołowej, oraz podsumowanie dostępnych wiadomości dotyczących guza Potta. Postępowanie diagnostyczne u dziewczynki wykazało masywne zmiany zapalne obejmujące zatoki przynosowe z destrukcją ścian zatok czołowych oraz komunikację zmian zapalnych z przednim dołem czaszki. Dziewczynka została zakwalifikowana do pilnej interwencji neurochirurgicznej i laryngologicznej.

    Emulsions are interesting dispersed systems that are necessary for a number of technological processes. Their flow through porous structures have many applications in the field of chemical engineering. Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) techniques, soil remediation and various treatment methods of oily wastewater are good examples of emulsion flow in porous structure. The phenomenon of dispersed system flow through porous media is not easy to describe, mainly because of rheological behavior of emulsions and porous structure properties. During two phase flow of oil and water through porous bed it is possible to observe the interception of oil to porous structure, as well as filtration of oil in pores. In this study, we tried to examine the influence of the fraction size as well as migration process history on permeability of porous bed.

    Crude oil and its derivatives migration in porous structure are important aspects of chemical engineering, since they are vital for processes such as oil extraction and soil remediation. Understanding the multiphase flow in porous rocks is necessary for Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) and can lead to this process intensification. In methods of oil extraction such as water flooding or polymer flooding liquids are pumped with high pressure to increase the sweeping efficiency of medium. Thus, the knowledge in this field is important for all people engaged in this process. Oil and its derivatives transport in porous structure occurs also during ground leaching techniques used in soil remediation after emergency release of these liquids. Therefore the research in field of transport in porous media are necessary to conduct this process efficiently. The aim of the experiment was to check the sweeping ratio of paraffin from porous structure for different volumetric flow of leaching liquid. We also measured pressure at the inlet to bed, which allowed us to follow the stages during elution process. To analyze concentration in obtained samples we used TurbiscanLab® device.

    Liver transplantation is a well-established treatment of patients with end-stage liver disease and selected liver tumors. Remarkable progress has been made over the last years concerning nearly all of its aspects. The aim of this study was to evaluate the evolution of long-term outcomes after liver transplantations performed in the Department of General, Transplant and Liver Surgery (Medical University of Warsaw). Material and methods. Data of 1500 liver transplantations performed between 1989 and 2014 were retrospectively analyzed. Transplantations were divided into 3 groups: group 1 including first 500 operations, group 2 including subsequent 500, and group 3 comprising the most recent 500. Five year overall and graft survival were set as outcome measures. Results. Increased number of transplantations performed at the site was associated with increased age of the recipients (p<0.001) and donors (p<0.001), increased rate of male recipients (p<0.001), and increased rate of piggyback operations (p<0.001), and decreased MELD (p<0.001), as well as decreased blood (p=0.006) and plasma (p<0.001) transfusions. Overall survival was 71.6% at 5 years in group 1, 74.5% at 5 years in group 2, and 85% at 2.9 years in group 3 (p=0.008). Improvement of overall survival was particularly observed for primary transplantations (p=0.004). Increased graft survival rates did not reach the level of significance (p=0.136). Conclusions. Long-term outcomes after liver transplantations performed in the Department of General, Transplant and Liver Surgery are comparable to those achieved in the largest transplant centers worldwide and are continuously improving despite increasing recipient age and wider utilization of organs procured from older donors.
