Opis:: The article concerns several dozen adjectives expressing a general positive assessment in Polish. The analysis aims to reveal the concepts that motivate the semantic development of the adjectives listed above from other, more specific meanings to the evaluation meaning. The author concludes that evaluative adjectives are motivated by concepts from several specific semantic circles, e.g. ‘large size’, ‘light’, ‘rarity’, ‘unreality’ etc.

Opis:: The article is between onomastics and sociolinguistics. The author shows the informal forms of names, which are used in Polish family of landed gentry in the beginning of XX century. The author carried out a word-formation analysis of a large collection of these forms, selected from three memory books. The article is an important contribution to the knowledge of the riches of the diminutives, which Poles in different epochs and environments have addressed themselves.

Opis:: The article presents the category of current names which are different from official forms of names, for example, not: Maria, but Marysia, Maryla, Mania…. These forms are used today in everyday communication and gradually replace official forms, even in the public sphere. There is a morphological pattern for the structure of these names in Polish which differs in masculine and feminine names. They should have only two syllables and they should not have soft consonants, such as ś, ź, ć, ń.

Opis:: The goal of the article is to describe the new and progressive category of onyms in contemporary Polish: names of awards. The author proposes for this category the term lauronyms. Synchronic analysis of lauronyms reveals their typical structure and their meaning. There are special collections of lexical items which are used to create the onyms the most fit for particular type of awards. The creation of lauronyms in Polish mirrors these areas of life, which are nowadays especially important for society and which can be the field of competition.
