Opis:: The work concerns the modernization of the Water Treatment Plant, the objective of which was to improve the quality of recipients; life by counteracting water deficits and ensuring a stable supply of water with appropriate pressure and quality, in accordance with the requirements of applicable regulations. Installing modern control and measuring equipment, as well as modern devices during the modernization of the facility, will significantly reduce electricity consumption, which will realistically minimize the operating costs. The article describes in detail what the modernization of the water treatment plant was like and what effects of water treatment from the quaternary aquifer were obtained. After the completed modernization of the plant, the County Sanitary and Epidemiological Station gave a positive opinion on all materials and devices used in the modernization of the WTP and agreed to supply the existing water supply with purified water.

Opis:: Introduction: The aim of the study was to assess the level of awareness of smoking and non smoking students on harmful impact of nicotine and cigarette smoke on human body. Material and methods: The study was carried out in March 2011 in high schools in Szczecin. Own elaborated questionnaire was used. 288 students from high school, technical college and vocational school were tested. Results: The majority of responders (95,1%) claimed that cigarette smoke is harmful both for passive and active smokers. They most often pinpoint the direct cause connected with smoking to pulmonary diseases (264 persons) and cancers (240 persons). Almost 90% of students found negative impact of tobacco products on development of fetus of pregnant women. Overwhelming majority of respondents (83,2%) feels anxious if it comes to stay in a room filled with smoke. Conclusions: The awareness of high school students on negative influence of smoking on human body is quite satisfactory, but there is still a need for more education in the range of diseases and symptoms connected with smoking.
Wstęp: Celem pracy była ocena poziomu wiedzy uczniów palących i niepalących na temat szkodliwego działania nikotyny i dymu papierosowego na organizm człowieka. Materiał i metody: Badania przeprowadzono w marcu 2011 roku w szkołach ponadgimnazjalnych na terenie miasta Szczecina. Materiał empiryczny zebrano za pomocą autorskiego kwestionariusza ankiety. Grupę badawczą, liczącą 288 osób, stanowili uczniowie liceum ogólnokształcącego, technikum oraz zasadniczej szkoły zawodowej. Wyniki: Większość respondentów (95,1%) uważała, że dym papierosowy jest szkodliwy dla osób zarówno palących czynnie jak i biernie. Ankietowani najczęściej za choroby i objawy chorobowe, które mogą być wywołane przez działanie nikotyny, uznali: choroby płuc (264 osoby) oraz nowotwory (240 osób). Wśród badanej młodzieży prawie 90% ankietowanych zauważyła negatywny wpływ wyrobów tytoniowych na rozwój płodu u kobiet, które palą w czasie ciąży. Przeważająca większość ankietowanych (83,2%) denerwuje się, gdy musi przebywać w zadymionym pomieszczeniu. Wnioski: Świadomość negatywnego wpływu nikotynizmu na organizm człowieka wśród uczniów szkół ponadgimnazjalnych jest zadawalająca, jednak należało by zwiększyć działania edukacyjne w zakresie znajomości chorób i objawów chorobowych wywoływanych przez nikotynę.
