Opis:: Artykuł przedstawia porównanie oferty wybranych dostawców chmury obliczeniowych pod kątem ich wykorzystania w procesie przygotowywania i wdrażania usług opartych o idee otwartego kodu źródłowego. Przeprowadzone badania dotyczą usług dostarczanych według modelu IaaS w postaci dzierżawy maszyny wirtualnej oraz usług dostarczanych według modelu PaaS w postaci usług baz danych. Zaprezentowana analiza ma charakter tak jakościowy (ocena subiektywna) jak i ilościowy, który polega na szeregu pomiarów parametrów instancji wirtualnych. Na podstawie tej analizy, wybrany został najlepszy dostawca usług w chmurze publicznej dla użytkowników rozpoczynających wykorzystywanie zasobów chmur obliczeniowych.
The article presents a comparison of the offers of selected cloud computing providers in terms of their use in the process of developing and implementing IT services based on the idea of open source code. The conducted research concerns services provided according to the IaaS model in the form of a virtual machine lease and services provided according to the PaaS model in the form of database services. The presented analysis is both qualitative (subjective assessment) and quantitative, which consists in a series of measurements of the parameters of virtual instances. Based on this analysis, the best public cloud service provider for users starting to use cloud computing resources was selected.

Opis:: Ostatnie lata rozwoju technologii chmurowych przyniosły gwałtowny wzrost zainteresowania rozwiązaniami określanymi jako systemy bezserwerowe. Ich wydajność, a tym samym przydatność w potencjalnych zastosowaniach, jest silnie uzależniona od sposobu implementacji programowej konkretnych zadań. W artykule poddano analizie wpływ wybranych, obecnie najpopularniejszych, języków programowania na wydajność testowej infrastruktury bezserwerowej uruchomionej w środowisku zarządzanym przez system Kubernetes. Zgromadzone dane posłużyły do sformułowania wniosków dotyczących przydatności poszczególnych języków w warunkach zróżnicowanych obciążeń systemu bezserwerowego.
Recent years of cloud technology development have brought a sharp increase in interest in solutions known as serverless systems. Their performance, and thus usefulness in potential applications, strongly depends on the method of program implementation of specific tasks. The article analyzes the impact of selected, currently the most popular, programming languages on the performance of the serverless test infrastructure running in an environment managed by the Kubernetes system. The collected data were used to formulate conclusions regarding the suitability of individual languages in the conditions of varying serverless system loads.

Opis:: Artykuł przedstawia porównanie wydajności aplikacji utworzonych w architekturze monolitycznej i mikrousługowej. Zakres badań obejmuje aplikacje wspomagające zarządzanie receptami, utworzone przy wykorzystaniu technologii Spring Framework i wdrożone w środowisku testowym Docker Swarm. Aplikacje poddano różnym obciążeniomw postaci wysyłania zapytań HTTP, które symulowały zachowanie użytkowników.Przeprowadzone badania dowiodły, że aplikacja utworzona w oparciu o architekturę mikrousług lepiej radzi sobie z obsługą ruchu w przypadku dużego obciążenia. Skalowanie aplikacji mikrousługowej pozwala na uzyskanie większego przyrostu wydajności mierzonej jako liczba obsłużonych żądań klientów w jednostce czasu niż skalowanie aplikacji monolitycznej przy tych samych warunkach skalowania.
The article describes the performance of applications built in monolithic and microservice architectures. The base of research includes application supporting prescription management developed with the use of Spring Framework technology and implemented in the Docker Swarm test environment. The tested applications were subjected to various loads in the form of sending HTTP requests that simulated user behaviour. The research has proven that an application created based on microservices architecture offers better traffic handling in case of high load. Scaling a microservice application allows for greater gains in performance measured as quantity served client requests per unit of time than scaling a monolithic application under the same conditions scaling.

Opis:: In this paper, the authors are showing a calculation of the road quality index called Simple Road Quality Index (SRQI) using the weight provided by the amateur drivers to best possibly rate their comfort on driving on that road. The index is calculated from acceleration data acquired by the smartphone application and is aggregated in a crowdsourcing system for the classification of road quality using the fuzzy membership function. The paper shows that the proposed index correctly shows road quality changes over time and may be used as a way to mark roads to be avoided or needs to be repaired. The numerical experiment was based on the same street in Lublin, Poland, in 2015-2021 and is correctly showing that the quality of analyzed roads deteriorated over time, especially in the winter season.

Opis:: Maritime and coastal areas are the lifeblood of many countries. They are vital to the prosperity of countries because they provide trade routes, regulate the climate, are a source of organic and inorganic resources and energy, and provide a place for the public to live and relax. Increasingly, however, there are divergences and barriers to the use of marine areas. On the one hand, available and developed technology and knowledge enable increasingly improved use of the sea. On the other hand, the combined effect of these activities leads to conflicts of interest and the deterioration of the marine environment. The purpose of this study is to analyze the feasibility of using automatic identification system (AIS) maritime traffic data, in terms of its suitability, to correctly assess the utilization of the potential of a specific fleet within the offshore shipping industry. In addition, the authors undertake the task of determining to what extent activities relating to the GPS position of the ship, ship type (i.e., cargo or passenger), ship status (i.e., aground, anchored, moored, not under command, restricted maneuverability, underway sailing, or underway using its engine), ship draught, service speed, total engine power, and deadweight constitute areas and methods for optimizing the use of the offshore fleet under all the conditions previously described that limit this optimization. Given the stated goal, this paper uses both a literature review procedure and statistical methods to conduct a comparative analysis.
