This paper is aimed at reviewing the ring of retarded quasipolynomial meromorphic functions (RMS) that was recently introduced as a convenient control design tool for linear, time-invariant time delay systems (TDS). It has been found by the authors that the original definition does not constitute a ring and has some essential deficiencies, and hence it could not be used for an algebraic control design without a thorough reformulation which i.a. extends the usability to neutral TDS and to those with distributed delays. This contribution summarizes the original definition of RMS simply highlights its deficiencies via examples, and suggests a possible new extended definition. Hence, the new ring of quasipolynomial meromorphic functions RQM is established to avoid confusion. The paper also investigates and introduces selected algebraic properties supported by some illustrative examples and concisely outlines its use in controller design.

Opis:
Poziom kultury ekologicznej społeczeństwa jest niezwykle ważnym czynnikiem wpływającym na jakość środowiska naturalnego. Świadomość zagrożeń ekologicznych, jakie mogą pojawić się na danym terenie oraz stosunek do nich mieszkańców, mają znaczenie w kształtowaniu postaw proekologicznych. W pracy zbadano świadomość dotyczącą zagrożeń ekologicznych mieszkańców gminy Olsztyn w woj. śląskim. Przeprowadzono badania ankietowe, z których wynika, że znajomość wpływu działań na czystość środowiska naturalnego jest znana, jednakże w niewielkim stopniu skutkuje to realnymi działaniami.
State of ecological culture of society is crucial factor influencing the quality of environment. Awareness of ecological threats that may appear on that area and attitude to inhabitants, have importance in creating fovouring ecological attitude. In this research awareness of inhabitants of community of Olsztyn in Silesia of ecological threats has been examined. From the researches w can see that people know about how they influence the environment in bad way, but it is not followed by any action to prevent destroying it.

The article examines the influence of Friedrich Nietzsche’s thought on the second edition of Karl Barth’s commentary on the Epistle to the Romans from 1922. The paper concentrates on direct quotations and references by name to the philosopher in the work discussed. All quotes are presented, analysed and compared with the source text. Subsequently, the similarities and differences in terms of the contents between the interpretation of the theologian and the philosophy adopted by him are outlined. The results can be divided into three thematic groups. The first relates to the criticism of the historical thought and ahistorical concept in which Barth’s understanding of faith is immersed. The second revolves around the human being: its condition and position according to K. Barth exhibit, despite completely different teleology, astonishing similarities to Nietzschean anthropology. The third group concerns severe criticism of religion, which in Römerbrief is not only appreciated, but also almost completely assumed. Finally, further possible steps are outlined for the examination of the effects caused by the adoption of F. Nietzsche’s philosophy on K. Barth’s work.
Artykuł bada wpływy myśli Friedricha Nietzschego na drugie wydanie komentarza Karla Bartha do Listu do Rzymian z roku 1922. Praca koncentruje się na dosłownych przytoczeniach oraz imiennych wzmiankach filozofa w omawianym dziele. Wszystkie cytaty są przedstawione, zanalizowane oraz porównane z tekstem źródłowym. Następnie zarysowane zostają treściowe podobieństwa i różnice między interpretacją teologa a recypowaną przez niego filozofią. Rezultaty dało się podzielić na trzy grupy tematyczne. Pierwsza dotyczy krytyki myślenia historycznego i koncepcji ahistorycznego, w którym zanurzone pozostaje Barthowskie rozumienie wiary. W centrum zainteresowania drugiej znajduje się człowiek: jego kondycja i położenie u K. Bartha wykazują, mimo zupełnie odmiennej teleologii, zdumiewające podobieństwa do nietzscheańskiej antropologii. Trzecia grupa zajmuje się druzgocącą krytyką religii, która w Römerbrief nie tylko zostaje doceniona, ale także prawie kompletnie przejęta. Na zakończenie naszkicowane zostały możliwe dalsze kroki badania wpływu recepcji F. Nietzschego na dzieło K. Bartha.

Zasadniczą problematyką artykułu jest analiza wykładni angelologicznej dokonana przez Karla Bartha w jego monumentalnym dziele Dogmatyka kościelna i porównanie jej z katolicką ortodoksją Urzędu Nauczycielskiego Kościoła. Celem jest obrona tezy, że nauka o aniołach – tylko o tych, które nie upadły – zarysowana przez kontrowersyjnego, ale też znaczącego protestanckiego teologa, w żadnym wypadku nie musi stać w sprzeczności z powściągliwymi i mało precyzyjnymi stwierdzeniami odnośnie do istot anielskich, które przez Kościół rzymskokatolicki uznane zostały za wypowiedzi dogmatyczne. W pierwszej części artykułu został przedstawiony historyczny rozwój angelologii w oparciu o retrospektywne interpretacje K. Bartha. Centralna część to omówienie Barthowskiej koncepcji królestwa niebieskiego i aniołów. Na koniec przedstawione zostały katolickie dogmaty anielskie.
The article essentially looks at two issues, namely the analysis of angelological interpretation made by Karl Barth in his monumental thirteen-volume opus magnum Church Dogmatics and comparing his views with Catholic doctrine of the Church’s Magisterium. The purpose of this piece is to defend the thesis that the study of angels – but only of those who have not fallen – outlined by this controversial, yet influential Protestant theologian, does not have to stand in contradiction to elusive and vague statements with regard to angelic beings, the statements considered dogmatic by the Roman Catholic Church. Historical development of angelology, based on retrospective interpretations made by K. Barth, is presented in the first part of the article. Barth’s concept of the Kingdom of Heaven and angels is discussed in its central part, while Catholic angelic dogmas are addressed in the last part hereof.

Until 1798 Warsaw remained in the diocese of Poznań despite taking over from Cracow numerous functions of a capital city in the 17th and 18th centuries (nominally it never became the capital of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth). During this time two seminaries ran by the Missionaries of St. Vincent de Paul functioned in Warsaw: Seminarium Internum and Seminarium Externum. They were founded in 1675-1676 and educated – especially the latter one – a large group of clergy who later held prominent positions in the structures of the Catholic Church on Polish-Lithuanian-Ruthenian soil. Among the seminary’s graduates were 66 future bishops (only eight of them underwent formation in Seminarium Internum), who were to minister as ordinaries or suffragans in a majority of dioceses then existing within the borders of the Kingdom of Poland and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania (and also on the territory of historical Greater Poland). Both of the above mentioned theological institutes located in Warsaw continued to function for some decades after the collapse of the pre-partition Polish-Lithuanian state (by then already within the Warsaw diocese and from 1818 in the Warsaw archdiocese). Their existence came to an end in 1864 as a result of repressions by Russian administration after the collapse of the January Uprising. In this second period of the seminaries’ operation the number of alumni who later filled episcopal offices was markedly lower, the last one being the future Gniezno-Poznań metropolitan and cardinal, Mieczysław Ledóchowski, whose name stands out illustriously in the history of the Church in Greater Poland.

The twelfth part, closing the series Source extracts, comprises three sections. The first two, entitled Monastica and Varia, bring another portion of information, taken from the archives and manuscripts, for the biographies of the representatives of the Old Polish hierarchy of the Catholic Church - bishops, abbots and abbesses. The third one is a cumulative index of the included persons, which comprises all the previous parts of Source extracts. It enables researchers to easily explore the rich and diverse material published in 2004-2013, and referring to a total of 683 characters. The index also includes the related editions on this topic, published by the same publisher in the pages of the semi-annual “Archiwa, Biblioteki i Muzea Kościelne” – it mentions, however, only those persons who appear in the individual parts of Source extracts. A wealth of factual data, introduced into the scientific world thanks to this series, should greatly assist in further prosopographical studies on the Old Polish church elites, particularly in the often postulated development of biographical dictionaries of both bishops and abbots from the time of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth.

The eleventh part of the cycle of the Source extracts for the biography of the Polish bishops and abbots from the time of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and the Partitions of Poland was divided into two separate subject areas, the fi rst of which is the continuation of the material presented in the previous part and it contains the information about the ordination of bishops (date, place, main consecrator, co-consecrators). This subject area includes notes regarding anointment of a total of 100 hierarchs of the 16th-19th centuries, representing mainly the Latin rite (only four Eastern rites). The other subject area, with the heading monastica, presents the materials for the biographies of abbots (this number also includes commendatory abbots) and abbesses of the Polish-Lithuanian-Ruthenian lands, representing both Latin and Greek-Catholic rite (Basilian Archimandrites). The total number is 43 people from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. The information presented in this and the previous ten parts of the Source extracts gives way to the study which could contribute significantly to the development in the area of biographical lexicons of Old Polish bishops and abbots. The issuing of such publication is something that is urgently demanded from the native church historiography as in this respect it remains far behind historiographies of other countries with Christian traditions.

The tenth part of the cycle for Source extracts for the biography of the Polish bishops and abbots from the time of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and the Partitions of Poland is entirely dedicated to the testimonies of the ordination of bishop representatives of the Old Polish Catholic episcopate at various times and circumstances. These testimonia consecrationis were taken from different categories of sources-primarily from (acta sacrarum functionum), from the books acta episcopalia, acta actorum capituli, records of informative process concerning bishoprics, from correspondence and diaries-only unpublished. These testimonies refer to the group of 195 hierarchs (including 11 of the Greek Catholic rite, 2 the Armenian Catholic Rite and the rest-the Latin rite), but when it comes to particular centuries these testimonies are presented as follows: 15th. – 4, 16th. – 7, 17th – 43, 18th – 91, 19th – 50. So far, there has been no information where and when a large number of bishops were consecrated, so the following work, presenting substantial portion of factual data acquired directly from archive material, contributes enormously to the state of research on this issue.
