    Turystyka miejska staje się coraz bardziej popularną formą spędzania wolnego czasu. Turyści odwiedzają miasta z bardzo wielu powodów – począwszy od rodzinnych a skończywszy na sportowych czy kulturalnych. Miasta, jako centra turystyczne coraz bardziej rozbudowują swoją infrastrukturę. Wpływ na to ma wiele czynników zarówno takich na jakie władze miasta mają określone wpływy, jak i te które działają niezależnie i są trudne do kontrolowania. Polska, jako kraj, ma ogromny potencjał dla rozwoju turystyki miejskiej. Należy mieć świadomość, że przy stałym rozwoju miast, rola turystyki miejskiej stanie się dominująca.

    Tourism requires from people some special predispositions: both – psychological and physical. It is always connected with breaking some barriers and it concerns people who are healthy as well as the disabled. However, people with disabilities are those who are affected by it in a more considerable way. It is commonly thought that the greatest obstacles for tourism of a disabled person are architectural, equipment and communication limitations. Usually, a psychological barrier is mentioned last, if it is mentioned at all. In fact, it is on the contrary. The psychological barrier should be universally recognized as basic in tourism of disabled people. No less important is the appropriate organization of tourist events for disabled people.

    In recent years canoeing tourism has become an immensely popular leisure activity. At the same time, practical exercises have become a significant part of tourism studies. In order to combine elements of sightseeing with qualified tourism which does not involve considerable financial outlays I undertook the organization of canoe trips on the Obra river. The following factors helped me to make this decision: −easy access to river routes, −the region’s cultural appeal and tourist attractions, −interesting hydrographic network of the Obra’s river basin, −possibility for organizing safe canoe courses and trainings. The main aim of this article is to present a wide range of possibilities for using the Obra’s river routes for qualified tourism and sightseeing and to enable people, who decide to go on a canoe trip, to choose those sections of the river routes which they may find most convenient. The paper describes in particular the Obra’s river basin accessible to canoe trips’ enthusiasts in Środkowe Nadodrze, Wielkopolska and Ziemia Lubuska. Another aim of this paper was to present a wide range of possibilities for using the Obra’s river routes to educate tourist staff on qualified tourism, sightseeing and recreation. The descriptions of canoe routes include the most important information on the accessibility of routes and their landscape values. The information included in these descriptions comes from the author’s first hand canoeing experience.

    Presented results are part of a broader study on the metropolitan region as the space of recreational penetration. It employed diagnostic survey and the tool used was the questionnaire prepared by the authors. The purpose of the following paper is to characterize selected aspects of physical recreation only of inhabitants with disabilities of the Poznań metropolis. It presents below only the results concerning the basic information of physical recreation of this social group, without the analysis of the conditionality of the participations in this kind of leisure time activities. The study results indicate that the participation of people with disabilities in physical recreation near and away from their place of residence is low. Respondents prefer weekend activity near their place of residence and the forms of recreation are not very diverse. They usually use small recreation and sports facilities or they use outdoor infrastructure. Enhanced involvement of people with disabilities in physical recreation together with personalized, adjusted to a given dysfunction offer is required.
