Opis:
The effect of magnetic field dependent (MFD) viscosity on thermal convection in a horizontal ferromagnetic fluid layer has been investigated numerically. A correction is applied to Sunil et al. [24] which is very important in order to predict the correct behavior of MFD viscosity. Linear stability analysis has been carried out for stationary convection. The MFD viscosity parameter δ as well as the measure of nonlinearity of magnetization M3, both have a stabilizing effect on the system. Numerical results are also obtained for large values of magnetic parameter M1 and predicted graphically.

Opis:
The onset of convective instability is analysed in a rotating multicomponent fluid layer in which density depends on n stratifying agents (one of them is heat) having different diffusivities. Two problems have been analysed mathematically. In the first problem, a sufficient condition is derived for the validity of the principle of the exchange of stabilities. Further, when the complement of this condition holds good, oscillatory motions of neutral or growing amplitude can exist, and thus it is important to derive upper bounds for the complex growth rate of such motions when at least one of the bounding surfaces is rigid so that exact solutions of the problem in closed form are not obtainable. Thus, as the second problem, bounds for the complex growth rates are also obtained. Above results are uniformly valid for quite general nature of the bounding surfaces.

Opis:
The effect of magnetic field dependent (MFD) viscosity on the thermal convection in a ferrofluid layer saturating a sparsely distributed porous medium has been investigated by using the Darcy-Brinkman model in the simultaneous presence of a uniform vertical magnetic field and a uniform vertical rotation. A correction is applied to the study of Vaidyanathan et al. [11] which is very important in order to predict the correct behavior of MFD viscosity. A linear stability analysis has been carried out for stationary modes and oscillatory modes separately. The critical wave number and critical Rayleigh number for the onset of instability, for the case of free boundaries, are determined numerically for sufficiently large values of the magnetic parameterM1 . Numerical results are obtained and are illustrated graphically. It is shown that magnetic field dependent viscosity has a destabilizing effect on the system for the case of stationary mode and a stabilizing effect for the case of oscillatory mode, whereas magnetization has a destabilizing effect.

Opis:
Flexible composites from high performance fibres were developed and targeted to replace the wall of existing rigid ceramic Particulate Filters. The composites are made from E Glass fibre webs of different density in the middle, with standard SiC Ceramic fibres webs in in the outer layers, forming a sandwich structure. Different needling densities were applied to form nonwoven composites, and they were stitched diagonally on the surface at specified intervals with continuous glass fibre filament yarn. In total, nine novel flexible composites were developed and evaluated for their structural, surface, mechanical and thermal properties. Based on the results and statistical analysis, the B2 sample is considered to be taken for further research to develop Particulate Matter (PM) filters.
W pracy opracowano giętkie kompozyty wzmocnione włóknami ceramicznymi i szklanymi do zastosowania w ścianach filtrów cząstek stałych. Kompozyty tworzące strukturę wielowarstwową zostały wykonane ze wstęg z włókna szklanego o różnej gęstości (warstwa wewnętrzna) i włókien ceramicznych (warstwa zewnętrzna).

Opis:
We have studied the dislocation generation and propagation from the seed crystals during seed cast Si growth. The grown ingot was cut into a vertical wafer, followed by the dislocation imaging using X-ray topography and Secco etching. The dislocation behavior at the seed area was compared with the dislocation generation at the top surface due to the thermal stress during cooling. The dislocations at the seed/crystal interface have propagated on the {111} plane toward top. When the seed surface was not melted sufficiently, the interface defect density became high, but no clear dislocation propagation was recognized. This suggests that the thermal shock at the seed/melt interface was not high enough to propagate dislocations to the growth direction. A certain amount of dislocations has been introduced from the top into the ingot according to the thermal stress. These observations suggest that optimizing the initial growth condition is important to dislocation control.

Opis:
A series of (4-(7-chloroquinolin-4-yl)piperazin-1-yl)(substitutedphenyl)methanones were prepared via multistep synthesis which involved acrylation without base, cyclisation, hydrolysis, decarboxylation, electrophilic chlorination reactions and subsequent chloro-amine coupling with various substituted benzoyl chloride derivatives. The structure of the synthesized compounds was established by using elemental analysis, FT-IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and Mass spectroscopy. All the novel compounds have been tested on thin layer chromatographic plate for purity and evaluated for their antimicrobial activity against gram positive and gram negative bacteria which demonstrated moderate to good antimicrobial activity.
