    The aim of this paper is to discuss the profiles of precursors of polemology. It also contains the definition of polemology as well as the description of its research tools i.e. polemology barometers. Moreover, the author shows the practical use of polemology barometers using an example of the War in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which lasted from March, 1992, until 1995.

    This paper describes the theoretical aspects of internal security, i.e. its concept and the components comprising internal security such as public security, common security, and political security. The author briefly discusses the internal security system, including the role of prison officers. Moreover, the paper also describes the prison service system in Poland, the individual elements creating its structure, and the tasks of prison officers. There is also included a brief discussion of the reform of the prison service system in Poland, which started in 2017. Finally, the paper presents the up-to-date research findings from the Master’s thesis completed by the author in June 2016 entitled “Influence of Prison Service System on the Internal Security.

    This paper describes the structure of prison service, referring to the Act on Prison Service of 9 Apr 2010, where it was specified that one of the many tasks of the Prison Service is to carry out rehabilitation activities in relation to prisoners. It also presents penalty systems and outlines the concept of penitentiary resocialization. Moreover, means of correction of convicted persons are also discussed. The author also presents an exemplary resocialization program that is being implemented in penitentiary units. Finally, the paper presents the up-to-date research findings from the Master’s thesis completed by the author in June 2016 entitled Influence of Prison Service System on the Internal Security.

    Opis:
    This paper presents juvenile delinquency as a threat to public security. The author explains the concepts of public security and public order, and discusses threats to public security in specific categories, i.e. social threats, technical threats, natural threats. The paper also contains an explanation of the concept of juvenile, which is based on the Polish Act of 1982 on Proceedings in Juvenile Cases and Juvenile Delinquency. Having analysed the source literature, the author has listed the basic determinants of juvenile delinquency. Making use of the statistical data made available on the website of the Warsaw Police Office, the paper shows the scale and structure of juvenile delinquency in the Capital City of Warsaw. Furthermore, the data from the website of the Warsaw Police Office has enabled the author to describe examples of abnormal juvenile behaviour observed in Warsaw. The paper also contains practical examples of actions taken by police in connection with juvenile delinquency.

    The paper discusses the main tasks of Prison Personnel as well as the concepts of motivating, motivation and a motive, which is done by the author with the help of source literature. The following types of motivation have been described: internal, external, positive and negative. The process of motivation has been presented as a model. The author refers to the following motivation models: traditional, cooperation relations, and human resources, which have been compared in a table. The comparison is based on the three following factors: assumptions, code of con- duct, and expectations. Furthermore, Herzberg’s Two-Factor Motivation Theory, E. A. Locke’s Goal-Setting Theory, and J. S. Adams’ Equity The- ory have also been discussed in more detail. The last part of the paper contains a discussion of selected tangible and intangible factors used by superioris in order to motivate Prison Service Officers.
