    The analysis of Janusz Korczak’s actions and beliefs makes him a contemporary Socrates. Socrates is being treated as a classical archetype of Sophomoros, who not only teaches but also plays jokes. In my essay I try to show that in his book entitled Humorous Pedagogy Janusz Korczak presents education and an educator in a way that departs from the one-sidedness of hieratic pedagogy.

    Celem artykułu jest zwrócenie uwagi na kicz jako kategorię z zakresu nauk społecznych i hu-manistycznych o odpowiednich implikacjach dla dyscypliny pedagogicznej Zagadnienie kiczu osadzam w ramach swoiście rozumianej i uprawianej refleksji kulturoznawczej. Układ pojęć niezbędnych do tego osadzenia przedstawiam w następującym porządku: kultura – sztuka – uczestnictwo w kulturze (sztuce) – wprowadzanie do uczestnictwa w kulturze (sztuce). W przyjętej perspektywie nakreślanie granic pomiędzy „sztuką”, „złą sztuką”, „antysztuką”, „kiczem” jest mało atrakcyjne. Problem ten zostaje uwolniony od niepotrzebnych napięć. Kluczem jest tutaj sposób rozumienia pojęcia kultura, który implikuje odpowiedni sposób rozumienia sztuki, a w konsekwencji uczestnictwa w kulturze (sztuce) oraz wprowadzania doń (co jest prymarną funkcją edukacji). Publikacja ma na celu zapoznanie Czytelnika z różnorodnymi sposobami myślenia na temat kiczu oraz zaproszenie go do dyskusji na jego temat.
    The aim of the article is to draw attention to kitsch as a category in the field of social sciences and humanities with appropriate implications for the pedagogical discipline I place the problem of kitsch within a specifically understood and cultivated cultural studies reflection. The system of concepts necessary for this embedding is presented in the following order: culture – art – participation in culture (art) – introduction to participation in culture (art). In the adopted perspective, delineating the boundaries between “art”, “bad art”, “anti-art”, “kitsch” is not very attractive. This problem is relieved of unnecessary tensions. The key here is the way of understanding the concept of culture, which implies an appropriate way of understanding art and, consequently, participation in and introduction to culture (art) (which is the primary function of education). The aim of the publication is to familiarize the reader with various ways of thinking about kitsch and to invite him to discuss it.

    The paper presented here describes a new practical approach to the reconstruction problem applied to 3D spiral x-ray tomography. The concept we propose is based on a continuous-to-continuous data model, and the reconstruction problem is formulated as a shift invariant system. This original reconstruction method is formulated taking into consideration the statistical properties of signals obtained by the 3D geometry of a CT scanner. It belongs to the class of nutating reconstruction methods and is based on the advanced single slice rebinning (ASSR) methodology. The concept shown here significantly improves the quality of the images obtained after reconstruction and decreases the complexity of the reconstruction problem in comparison with other approaches. Computer simulations have been performed, which prove that the reconstruction algorithm described here does indeed significantly outperforms conventional analytical methods in the quality of the images obtained.

    The studies were conducted in a forest settlement in Roztocze National Park (eastern Poland). The aim of the study was to evaluate the vegetation of two pastures depending on the type of use in the context of grassland protection, identify the trends of species composition changes, and analyse the yield and nutritional value of the biomass in the context of animal welfare. The studies were conducted on permanent grasslands varying in terms of fertility and location. Both sites were pastures where native breeds of livestock (Polish Lowland sheep of the Uhrusk and Polish Konik) were grazing. The fertile pasture was represented by the developing Lolio-Cynosuretum association, while the poor dry pasture – by a community with Common Bent (Agrostis capillaris L.) and a community with Mouse-Ear Hawkweed (Hieracium pilosella L.). The greatest changes over time were observed in the mowed site in the fertile pasture (increased share of tall grasses) and in the abandoned poor dry pasture (increased share of herbs and weeds). Livestock grazing conducted from 2010 influenced the stabilisation of the species composition. Tree and shrub seedlings were systematically eaten by livestock, which evidences a positive impact of grazing on the preservation of permanent grasslands in Roztocze National Park where forest ecosystems predominate. The assessment of the species composition and yielding indicated that the fertile pasture was characterised by good value while the poor pasture – low or sufficient value. In terms of nutrient yield and content, these pastures were poor or very poor, and their nutritive potential was largely dependent on the meteorological conditions. While the livestock density in the pastures, ranging from 1.1 to 1.5 LSU ha–1 in the years under study, was appropriate, grazing should be limited in the summer months, particularly in periods of drought, by reducing the number of animals or by additional feeding to ensure their welfare.
